Feb 17, 2010Is there any links to Slackware 13 iso image? At official site there is a folder with subfolders, so I have to download them file by file.

Slackware :: Opera 10.60 Very Slow To Start New Links
Jul 8, 2010I've been using Opera 10.11 on two different computer systems, two different locations (work & home), and two different Slackware versions (13 & 13.1 current). Opera 10.11 runs very quickly on both. After upgrading to Opera 10.60, I now find that linking to new web pages takes 5 to 10 seconds, but returning to a previous page is almost instantaneous.
I've tried installing 10.60 using slackbuilds and Opera's installer - both give the same results. I've since reverted to Opera 10.11. why it is so slow to open web pages? Opera 10.60 for Win7 works great, so what happened to the Linux version?
Slackware :: Thunderbird Links No Longer Working
Dec 24, 2010So, approx 2 weeks ago, clicking on links in Thunderbird stopped working. There is no response in the browser whether it is open or not. I am able to paste the links to the browser just fine. Being congenitally lazy, I would rather just click them. I have upgraded to the latest version of Thunderbird and have the same issue. I have tried using Swiftfox, Firefox and Opera - all give the same non-response.
Am not getting any error messages, the links just do not open. Can't find any settings relevant to this issue.Any bright ideas out there?
Slackware :: Src2pkg Doinst.sh Auto Library Links
Apr 1, 2011auto generated doinst.sh files when using the -A switch.
The file will contain link removal and generation for libraries in the package eg.
When upgrading to a new version of the app, the library name might change eg.
So the links that doinst.sh creates is now incorrect. ie. the link is now dead because it points to a file that does not exist. Does one have to regenerate .src2pkg and resulting doinst.sh when using a new version of the package or is there another way to have doinst.sh regenerated without redoing .src2pkg?
Slackware :: Doesn't Seem To Support Ssl Connections - Links-2.3pre1-x86_64-1 And Ssl?
Mar 15, 2011I am using slackware64-current. I have installed the package links-2.3pre1-x86_64-1 and I love it. I launch it from the command line with the "links -g" switch and it can display pictures, it's great, but it doesn't seem to support ssl connections.
Am i doing something wrong or do I need another build? I know that in the past there used to be two different binaries, is it still so? Where can I find a ssl-enabled binary for 64 bit without need to recompile?
Slackware :: Image / Icon Trouble After Slackware-current Upgrade
Jan 22, 2010I recently upgraded to slackware-current from Slackware 13 via slackroll, and have only encountered one problem. My file manager no longer thumbnails images, and icons (mostly PNG) aren't appearing no matter what GTK theme is set. Running from the command line produces no errors, and when brought up in something else (say feh /path/to/icon.png) it works perfectly. This is the only hitch I have encountered so far. The same thing happens with emoticons in Pidgin. Does anyone know of a fix?

Dec 6, 2010At my Uni, we use a web-based login for our internet connections. Its based off of Cisco, and every Wednesday night every computer on campus must re-enter their credentials to use the network.
Normally on my several computers I simply pull up the Terminal, point links to google.com using

And enter my credentials when Cisco redirects to the login page.
Literally, the process is

Then ENTER to accept the redirect, down arrow to skip over the logo image, USERNAME, ENTER, PASSWORD, ENTER, ENTER.
Naturally, this is EXTREMELY time consuming, as I have about 5 computers located around campus and must physically walk to the machines and login every single week.
My question is, How would I formulate a program that does the following;
1) checks for connectivity (i.e. is able to reach/resolve to the greater part of the internet) and
2) automatically fills in the credentials on the links login page?

but now that fckeditor is available for mediawiki (very beta), it has become much better to just stick with wikitext format. There are only a few conversions to do: tables, links, and bulleted lists. The lists are a fairly simple regex and fckeditor magically reformats the tables, so all I'm left with is the links. But I'm not a regex master. How do I reformat code...

Mar 9, 2010My recent borked upgrade to -current inspired me to try to come up with a way to sanity-check the lib and bin dirs for broken library symlinks (possibly indicating missing libs) and for binaries and libraries that belong to no installed package, as well as missing dependencies.

Do i need to burn all this files to DVD or if i burn only the ISO image file will it work.Can i burn them in data format to a DVD.

Apr 27, 2011i have a dell laptop with an nvidia card (proprietary drivers from sbo) running 13.1. all of a sudden a random image from firefox would 'stick' on the display and it would be visible on other applications. for example, a yellow rectangle would appear wherever you go with firefox (on top of every page), on top of word documents (ms word is running under crossover), but it would not be visible on the kde desktop of dolphin.

May 13, 2011To make a very low level backup of my laptop prior to upgrading it, I decided to create an iso of the harddisk; while it is doing this, but a bit too far to just cancel and start anew, so I cannot test it out right now I decided to post here.
of course, there are partitions on /dev/sda (there's a swap for example)I may (am pretty damn sure I will) want to access the files within the iso, and that's where I wonder how to tackle that; I'm thinking along the lines of setting up a loopback device (losetup) but I don't think that that will be enough to recognize the partitions. Any thoughts? (or just re-create an image of /dev/sda1 ?)

May 19, 2010I do not know if all knew, but the BusyBox version used by Slackware 13.X for initrd, has an "application" called /sbin/fbsplash, which displays an image and a progress bar, of course, in the console framebuffer.

Jan 4, 2011I installed in my Slackware 13.1 with generic kernel 2.6.33.4-smp VirtualBox packages taken from SlackBuilds.org (acpica, virtualbox-ose and virtualbox-kernel). Then for testing purposes I installed in VirtualBox Windows XP using CD-ROM drive connected to USB port. It's a lot of fun to see Windows as an application in Linux!
Now I'm trying to install in VirtualBox Linux Mint using either USB flash drive prepared with unetbootin or mere ISO image. Without success. It seems VirtualBox 3.2.10 OSE doesn't recognize either USB flash drives or ISO images though it recognizes CD-ROM drive connected to USB port. I found some advices searching Internet but all of them are useless.

Nov 1, 2009Im using FF 3.5.2 and Slackware 12.2. On certain web pages, for instance www.slackware.com, Firefox doesnt display the background image, but instead displays multiple images of the tool bar of Firefox. It doesnt matter if I change the settings to allow third part cookies or if I tell Firefox to get images automatically. When using Konqueror, the web-site(s) appear normal.

Jan 6, 2010In light of my previous achievement in wireless networking, I've decided to create a larger issue for myself to solve. Which hopefully I can get some help with. Because my system is totally kisspoped up, for those of you who get what that means. I was trying to install GRUB via the .txz package and it created a mirrored image of the /boot folder. Which for some reason contained the / folder. Which in turn held /boot and all the other folders / is expected to contain.
Now, trying to remove the extra /boot folder proved difficult, but once I finally was able to figure it out, I remembered I could removepkg and that would probably mend the situation. However, I was already 20-something percent through moving the files to trash. Now when I checked /, /boot was gone from there. Along with various other folders. SO! Apparently the /tmp/boot folder created was in reality the /boot folder, albeit in the wrong place and having the wrong contents. Somehow, one folder existed as two different versions of itself at the same point in time. Much as a Time Lord might. Deleting one made the other vanish with it.
Good news:I removed it via Thunar and it should be in the root user's trash /home and some other folders had yet to be trashed when I hit cancel, so I can still use some things Bad news:I never ran X as root, so I don't know if it HAS a trash folder I can only use things already started up because the binaries are gone, but the configuration files in /home are still there (although /usr/bin remains)
Ideally, there would be a big UNDO button somewhere in this long row of function keys. Reasonably, there should be some kind of restoration tool. Realistically, I think I'm going to have to reinstall the system, which wasn't easy in the first place due to my faulty disc bay which detects discs at will.

Slackware :: Can't Print - "Unable To Open Image File For Printing!"
Jan 18, 2011Since slackware 13.0 (upgraded to 13.1), I haven't been able to print anything. I can add printers no problem using the cups gui (or whatever). However any print I send to any printer fails because of:
"Unable to open image file for printing!"
I can post the whole error log if that helps, but I can't see much in it. I haven't been able to print for about 6 months, which is getting a bit annoying.
p.s, as a I lazy option I upgraded to the cups in -current, but that didn't help (although I don't think it was a very different version).

Ubuntu Security :: Mount The Image Or Extract The Image To Another Drive?
Feb 16, 2011I was given a forensic Image which I now know is a DD image of the drive (Vista) and am trying to mount the image or extract the image to another drive. I'm not sure of the extention type or if the image is a partition or the entire drive. I think it is the entire drive.
Is it possible to mount a DD image to a device. If I can't do that I just want to extract the files to run some programs against the drive. Can I view the files under Ubuntu or do I have to remove the drive and stick it into a Vista computer.
I purchased a second drive today and was hoping the command line would be something simple.
Or am I on the wrong track, should I be doing this all in a windows environment. The reason I picked ubuntu was because of the reporting tools.
