Slackware :: Errors - Warning: Unsupported SASL Client Implementation: Cyrus
Mar 17, 2010
My problem is to get postfix working with a smarthost, to send mails from home with dynamic IP, and which needs authentication. I did exactly the same with Slackware 12.2 (postfix 2.6.2) and it worked. Now I tried to do with 2.6.2 (actual running version is 2.7.0 with the same problem) on Slackware 13 64bit. Following error message occurs around every minute in the maillog:
Slackware 13 64 - full installation Postfix from slackbuilds dot org Dovecot from same
has anyone recompiled Postfix using the Slackbuild script, modifying the script to include support for Cyrus-SASL, OpenLDAP, and MySQL in the build, while retaining Dovecot SASL and TLS? If so I would appreciate it if they could post the CCARGS and AUXLIBS commands. I am having some difficulty getting this working.
I am attempting to enable secure authentication on my homebrew AWS based mail server, by following the very excellent flurdy how-to.However I think the repositories I am attempting to use do not include this software.Oddly enough, an aptitude search finds the packages I want, however even if I copy-paste the name of the software into the install version of the command it turns up nothing.
Code: root@cloud1:~# aptitude search sasl2-bin i sasl2-bin - Cyrus SASL - administration programs for SASL users
I for some reason can't get Cyrus-sasl to work completely. I have to manually start it via saslauthd -a show if I let it start up itself or do a service saslauthd start or restart testsaslauthd will fail. I need help getting this fixed. I tried setting /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd to shadow instead of Pam but still no luck. Also when I try to login my postfix server I get an error stating that my username or password is incorrect even though it is right and I can receive mail from dovecot.
I am new to this forum and to Networking as well. I have chosen to implement:
1) SIP Client using C' language 2) Platform: Windows 3)Its going to be on command line
my problem is that I need some reference like books, material or website where I can learn how to write the code from scratch or port the code according to my requirements. My implementation should serve the purpose like two SIP clients should communicate with each other for exchange of Audio data.
1. I can connect to my slack 13 laptop via PuTTY on my GF's windows laptop. Can I actually copy things from my laptop to her machine using 'scp', or is PuTTY just used for browsing my linux filesystem on a windows machine? Google has been telling me about some software called 'WinSCP', which can copy files over, but I was just wandering if i can do this anyway using PuTTY?
2. The first time i did connect to my laptop from my GF's laptop (and also my ubuntu desktop) I get the warning about the host key is not cached in client machine("the server's rsa2 key fingerprint is: ssh-rsa XXXX xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx: etc etc). I understand why this happens, but I have no idea where to find this value on my host laptop. I can find the actual key, but not the fingerprint (i.e. the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" etc). i blindly typed "yes" to get SSH working?
3. When i connect from the internet (rather than over my home network) will i need some kind of 'shell login account' to do this cuz i dont have a static IP. ie i'd like to do 'ssh tom@myAccount.com' rather than 'tom@123.432.32.23'? Where or how can i make this happen?
I am experiencing a Cyrus-SASL v2.1.23 and PAM authentication issue. I installed linux PAM 1.1.3 on slackware linux 13.1 x86 64bit. On installing cyrus, i am unable to find the PAM authentiaction mechanism.
I'm attempting to install a small application called Asymptopia Flashcard System on Xubuntu x64. It's unsupported and virtually unknown, so I don't know many details about it aside from what I can gather from the source files. The first step in the installation directions is to type "make lib_install" as root at the command line. I get this output:
Making libasymptopia.so ... compiling Path.C ... Path.C: In member function void Path::listdir(char*, std::deque<char*, std::allocator<char*> >*): followed by a bunch of errors like this: Path.C:38: error: strcmp was not declared in this scope
all for the file Path.C, all of them complaining about various header files not being declared. I have the latest version of gcc installed, so I'm very confused about what the problem is. This application is at least a few years old...maybe there's something out-of-date about the way it includes the header files?
I have recently moved over to opensuse 11.4 (never used any Linux before), I have installed all updates and am using the latest KDE. (I am using a laptop, not sure if this is relevant) I have found using the system fairly easy and found all the help I need either here, or out on the net. However, I cannot find much information about the above error message that I sometimes get. I have only noticed this error occasionally when I resume from sleep mode, or when I turn the computer off. I haven't seen the message anywhere else (pop up window, konsole etc) Sometimes the skipped probes is as high as 70, other times as low as 10. I don't know what it is scanning(?)
I'm having some issues on a server running redhat for specific application and lately it has been for some reason kicking out some services. I just checked the Logwatch mail on the root user and here is one of the main error:
EXT2-fs: sda4 couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (240) EXT3-fs: sda4 couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (240)
When I boot Slackware13.1 it shows this 2 messages but it boots, my fstab says:
[Code]....
My file system is ext4 and the root partition is sda4. Why it is happening?
if this is log spam or significant stuff, and what I should do about it? I grabbed the latest build of [URL] the new fork of OO (git download) and ran ./autogen.sh
bash-3.1$ ./autogen.sh /usr/share/aclocal/nspr.m4:8: warning: underquoted definition of AM_PATH_NSPR /usr/share/aclocal/nspr.m4:8: run info '(automake)Extending aclocal' /usr/share/aclocal/nspr.m4:8: or see http://sources.redhat.com/automake/a...ending-aclocal configure.in:13: installing `./install-sh' configure.in:13: installing `./missing'
I then get a string of poor guesses, of which I enclose a few
bin/piece/Makefile.am:1: wildcard inst-*: non-POSIX variable name bin/piece/Makefile.am:1: (probably a GNU make extension) bin/piece/Makefile.am:1: wildcard post-inst-*: non-POSIX variable name bin/piece/Makefile.am:1: (probably a GNU make extension) desktop/16x16/Makefile.am:1: wildcard ooo-*.png: non-POSIX variable name desktop/16x16/Makefile.am:1: (probably a GNU make extension)
It leaves little confidence that I am getting a good setup. My distro is slamd64-12.2 (An excellent first attempt) I did check the redhat page, but it may have as well been in Fortran or Perl.
So this has happened to me several times with fedora 12, and granted I havn't rebooted in a while but it seems that after I update and reboot, I cannot log into GDM any longer.I can login to the CLI, so and I checked all my logs to make sure it wasn't an authentication error. What does happen though, is when I try and login to KDE the screen flickers likes loading the desktop and then spits me back out to the login prompt.var/log/messages reports successful login. Here is what i did find
** (process:2220): DEBUG: Greeter session pid=2220 display=:0.0 xauthority=/var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm-H2QyqS/database Failed to play sound: File or data not found
I installed the VSFTPD from YUM and installed the webmin module.i can connect to the server with Telnet but cant list files. When i try to connect with a FTP client i get the following errors: An error occured openig that folder on the ftp server. Make sure you have access to that folder.
200 Switching to ASCII mode. 227 Entering passive mode (172,20,1,5,69,210)
I have a problem with getting my fedora 14 laptop to connect to my fedora 12 server that is hosting my smb HP Deskjet 5650 printer. The error that I get is the following: CUPS server error. There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'.
I have been able to get my daughters Ubuntu laptop and my wife's Windows XP laptop to connect and print without a problem.
I'm fairly new to Linux so I'm going to need a step-by-step guide to get me out of this rut. The install of Linux was fine but when I booted up I got this error. VFS: Cannot open root device "302" or unknown-block (3,2) append a correct "root=" boot option;here are the available partitions;
0800 78150744 sda driver:sd 0801 47428608 sda1 <-- this is my Windows partition 0802 30719552 sda2 <-- this is my Linux partition 0b00 1048575 sr0 driver:sr 0b01 1048575 sr1 driver:sr
Kernel panic - not syncing:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (3,2) I guessed from reading this error Lilo isn't pointing to the right partition to boot from? How will I fix this? I read another thread about boot problems on these forums and a guy said to do this:
#mkdir /slacktemp #mount /dev/device /slacktemp #chroot /slacktemp #cd /slacktemp/etc <-- for me it told me that doesn't exist #vi lilo.conf <-- couldn't do nothing and was frozen #lilo -v -t -b /dev/device #lilo -v -b /dev/device
The above solution did not work for me. Can anyone shed a light on a Linux rookie?
I've got a problem occurring with my openSUSE 11.3 // GNOME Empathy Chat Client. When I try to connect to my Facebook account, my client tells me that I have a Network Error. Last time I used the client at home, it worked perfectly fine, but when I'm at work it doesn't.
Now, you guys may say that my work's network may have ports blocked, or the firewall is blocking its use in some way, but I find that hard to believe. My reasoning? I am able to connect to my Facebook account thru Empathy at work on my previous Ubuntu 10.04 system with no problems. I have also been connected to the same chat accounts this whole week on my openSUSE 11.3 // KDE 4.4 Kopete chat client. My Empathy connects to my Skype with no problem also. So, do any of you have any ideas that could possibly solve my issue? I love being connected to my Facebook chat at work because I don't see anyone nearly as often, and it's a great way for me to keep in touch with them.
I apologize in advance if the following problems I am facing seem 'basic'.I am a newbie to Unix systems and trying to learn and adapt. I am trying to install fred-client-2.2.3 on Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron.
So I first downloaded the .tar.gz file from http://fred.nic.cz/sources/fred-client-2.2.3.tar.gz Then using the terminal I entered: tar -xf Fred-Client-2.2.3.tar.gz cd Fred-Client-2.2.3 sudo ./install.sh
I mount two ntfs partitions under my Slackware/win/C/win/Dwhen i process a search via "find" it give me the following when reach /win directoryfind: warning: not following the symbolic link '/win/C/Document and settings'i wantto know what is going on and the solution
The sudo upgrade of 2010-09-15 modified permissions on /var in my systems, both on 32 and 64 bit. (from 755 to 700) My subversion server stops working after the upgrade, you have to restore the old permissions by hand. I don't inspect how, but I've checked it few times...
I recently did a fresh install of current and once I had it up and running I compiled a fresh 2.6.33 kernel using my old config file, but now I get this warning durning boot, specifically during module loading WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/sound, it will be ignored in a future release. This doesn't seem to be causing any problems but I am curious to know what the message meams? I checked /etc/modprobe but everything looks normal.
I'm using a slack 13.37 version and this message is occuring during wine apps running:
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 00010000-00110000
Instead of being only a warning, I think it's breaking down and don't know exactly it's a wine or OS problem.
Googling point me a wine problem,
url
and another Ubuntu and Wine topics .

But I'm in a 32bits option ( no multilibs ), my wine, dependencies packages and procedures are the same installed before in 13.1 . Just system was changed! Anyone have any info on that sytem or wine problem?
i installed slackware current straight(make iso from it and installed on clean disk) and i installed Multilib current from alien and now when i wanna compile wine source its write
"configure: OpenCL 32-bit development files not found, OpenCL won't be supported. configure: libsane 32-bit development files not found, scanners won't be supported. configure: gstreamer-0.10 base plugins 32-bit development files not found, gstreamer support disabled
[code].....
I checked i got that libaries in /lib and /lib64 why it doesent work it was working on slackware 13.1 with multilib
I used mkinitrd to build an initrd from the slackware 2.6.37.6 sources. Lilo throws the following: "Warning: The initial RAM disk is too big to fit between the kernel a the 15M-16M memory hole. It will be loaded in the highest memory as though the configuration file specified "large-memory" and it will be assumed that the BIOS supports memory moves above 16M."
Also, I am running swap, / and home on an encrypted volume group. When the initrd boots (but prior to mounting the encrypted vg) I get a message saying that no modules are found-sounds like a daft question but is this expected? I expect that this is because initrd is looking for modules, but can't find them because the relevant partition isn't mounted.
when i typed command /usr/sbin/amcheck intra on client side i got following error.(expecting a new tape)
NOTE: info dir /var/log/amanda/intra/curinfo: does not exist NOTE: it will be created on the next run. NOTE: index dir /var/log/amanda/intra/index: does not exist NOTE: it will be created on the next run.
I'm having some troubles with nfsd in slackware-current. When I start the service, I get the following error messages: Quote:

The mount fails from the clients with the error message: Quote: mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting jupiter:/media/Backup A look at syslog from the server side gives: Quote: exportfs: exports duplicate symbol exportfs_decode_fh (owned by kernel) mountd[28198]: getfh failed: No such device kernel: exportfs: exports duplicate symbol exportfs_decode_fh (owned by kernel)
On installing the Nvidia driver using Nvidia's 173 legacy installer I noticed a load of errors which are recorded in the log below. The driver appears to be working. Is this something that I should be concerned about?Quote:
