Slackware :: Mongodb - Managed To Install Under Slack13
Apr 28, 2010
I'm trying to install mongodb (so called schema-less database). It requires libraries like libjs, libmozjs, spider-monkey and the like. I had an idea that installing xulrunner would provide most of that, but it doesn't do so in any nice way. I'm a bit scared to muck up my firefox/thunderbird/seamonkey system, which I suspect might easily happen if I tread wrong.
For the heck of it (and because I wanted to see if it was possible) I booted to the Slack13 DVD to see if I would be able to install from an online source. I was actually surprised that I could. Why can I only select the A series to install from an online source? Does it have to do with bandwidth considerations? I'm curious for if I wanted to install -current to begin with instead of just upgrading to it.I don't want to have to download all the packages. Just let it install from the net.
I am on a slackware13.0 machine, that I just finished upgrading to 13.1 with slackpkg.(did slackpkg update;slackpkg upgrade-all; slackpkg install-new. I did not restart the machine). Now im attempting to run the mrtg slackbuild but I get the following during the configure stage:Quote:
Up until a couple days ago, samba server worked perfectly. I don't remember doing anything with it except adding another share or two. I can still run SWAT, even from remote computers, but I still have the problem of starting the samba server itself.
#./rc.samba start Starting Samba: /usr/sbin/smbd -D /usr/sbin/nmbd -D #./rc.samba restart smbd: no process killed
[Code]...
After issuing the "start" option, I go into SWAT and the status page says samba's not running.
I'm running KDE on slack13.1 However i've wrecked my system tray. When i "add widgets" and add "system tray" the widget aligns to the left of screen which means when i minimze windows they just disappear.
I have a new install of Slack 13 and upgrading to current will break a lot of things for my 4 year old son (he's a gnome guy, what can I say). I will be using this machine too, and I NEED KDE, but of course the stock KDE packages are unstable to say the least. I know I've seen people talking of downloading upgraded kde packages for slackware 13, but when I google, I find a lot of things complaining about the stock KDE and of course Eric's packages for current.
I am installing slackware 13 on a machine that already has slackware 64- current. I'm doing this to try LFS which needs a 32 bit host (I know about CFLS, but I'm trying to keep it simple). My current installation is on sda with / being on sda1. My new 32 bit installation is on sdb with / being on sdb2.
I didn't install LILO as I figured it would be easy enough to just edit the current lilo.conf and run lilo after rebooting from the installation and then rebooting again into the new 32 bit install. What keeps happening is that the system boots seemingly fine, but after some wierdness I realized that it is booting a kernel from the 64 bit install on sda1. I'm assuming this is a simple screw up in my lilo.conf but I'm not sure exactly how to fix it.
lilo.conf: Code: # LILO configuration file # generated by 'liloconfig' # # Start LILO global section # Append any additional kernel parameters: append=" vt.default_utf8=0 quiet"
I use my T61 both wireless and in the dock, where I switch to the wired connection. After the latest round of updates, I seem to have lost the ability to switch to the wired network. When I turn the laptop on, I see it connect to the wireless network, but when I left click on the tray icon under Wired Network is says Device not managed. I have not made any changes to anything in the last couple weeks, besides some updates. How do I go about getting the wired network back in there?I tried to add eth0 back into System - Preferences - Network Connections, but whenever I try and add eth0, but it still says Device not managed.
I've been trying to get Xmonad installed and keep running into dependency installation issues. So far, I've used slackbuilds to get everything I need for Xmonad. (I'm pretty new to linux still, but as far as I know, having 64bit slack shouldn't be an issue in running 32bit applications?)
I have- ghc-6.12.1 haskell-mtl
The main issue I've had thus far is with the Haskell-X11 (1.5.0.0) dependency, I downloaded the slackbuild:
how stable I can pretend slackware 13.1 is.... Im getting my share of problems with an "out-of-the-box" supposely "stable" release of the OS... I'm trying to start the NFS daemon on the server and I get:
[Code]...
Now I understand I'm not the only one to have that problem... apparently something to do with a kernel problem or something like that. I've found a website where the site maintainer reported the same exact problem, but his solution worked for him, not for me (of course!)... [URL] Basically, he says that its a problem with modprobe or init and reverting to the older version 3.6 would do it. Here's what he did: He downloaded & "upgraded" module-init-tools-3.6-i486-2.txz
managed to screw up the ownership of many directories on a remote server whilst installing a piece of new software. Basically I have set all ownership from / downwards to apache:apache.
Spotted the error quite quickly and managed to abort it, but am now unable to change to root to put anything right. Is there any way to restore ownerships of the underlying Slackware to 'factory default' as it were? Had a quick google and found some links for a script that is supposed to work, but it appears broken,
did anyone manage to install Ubuntu 1 in Kubuntu? I tried a few ways but still can't make it run. I managed to install it on Win XP and an Android phone, really weird that there's no explicit support for Kubuntu
Code: Select all dpkg: error processing package mongodb-org-server (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 102 Errors were encountered while processing: mongodb-org-server E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Anyone managed to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a box with Intel Core i7 920@2.67Ghz processor. I downloaded ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso & ubuntu-10.04-alternate-amd64.iso ran md5sum's, burnt them to DVDs & CDs but couldn't manage to install the 64-bit version. For some reason the installations abort. I've got Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit version running on the box right now.
I'm using Ubuntu x64 Desktop 10.10, when I installed XAMPP xampp-linux-1.7.3a.tar.gz and xampp-linux-devel-1.7.3a.tar.gz on my laptop. It's run perfect. But when i installed MongoDB extension on XAMPP and restart XAMPP it's show:
HTML Code: Failed loading /opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/mongo.so: /opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/mongo.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
I tried to install with /opt/lampp/bin/pecl install mongo but it's same error.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64bit, and I'm a newbie when it comes to networking.
My issue is that there seems to be a socket bound to a port blocking MongoDB from accessing it's usual port 27017. The strange thing that it was working just fine until recently and I can't figure out what I did to screw things up... I can make it use a different port but the reason why it can't bind to the default port and why I can't fix it is really bothering me. I've tried rebooting the machine even with nothing else running when I try to run Mongo is still blocked giving the following message:
Code: ropes@ropes:~/mongodb-linux-x86_64-1.8.0/bin$ ./mongod ./mongod --help for help and startup options Sun Mar 27 14:08:14 [initandlisten] MongoDB starting : pid=2718 port=27017 dbpath=/data/db/ 64-bit
I am trying out a Debian system on my at home desktop. The way that the desktop connects to the internet is via a wireless card. The installation went fine to my knowledge, I used a CD and the installation even used the wireless internet (albeit slowly) to download the needed packages to complete installation. Now when I try to connect to the wireless network Network Manager says that Wireless Networks are "not managed." I feel like I'm probably missing something either really simple and silly or something really big requiring a re-installation. Either way I can't even find an instance of this happening to someone else's system.
Finally got skype working on my Fedora 11 x64 version. Well, of course, the first thing is to download the 32 bit "skype-2.0.0.72-fc5.i586.rpm" from Skype official website..At first, I found a guide on [URL].. and followed the instruction.Installed skype using
Then searched through and found out another "Howto" for F10.. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/archiv.../t-217122.html I tried to yum, but none of the following packages are found.
There are also some thread talking about this problem but I forgot to bookmark them. It seems that skype needs 32 bit lisa.. So I then installed the lisa-lib-1.0.20-1.fc(i586). Meanwhile, I configured sound in, out and ring to hw... Also disabled "Allow skype to adjust .. mixer level" . When I run skype from xtern, it still reports erors related to lisa.. But it works now...
On standard Linux setups you have two general paste buffers, the main copy(^C)/paste(^V) one and the select-text/middle-click one. For both of these buffers:
At what level in the environment are these buffers stored/managed; the kernel, the X server, KDE/Gnome, or some other service somewhere? Can they be programmatically accessed somehow using some standard library?

when I first installed it on my IBM thinkpad, the eth0 was working correctly. I had someone try to install the network card for me, and something was changed to where now the wired connection is displaying "device not managed".
My past few weeks trying to cache the use frox, but never managed to run frox correctly. I need a guide for installation frox (ftp proxy or otherwise) that I can understand, because I'm still just learning. I use a superbly managed using squid for web proxy using port 3128
Bind on Fedora 14 is driving me crazy.I am getting messages when I restart BIND stating it cannot find the managed-keys.bind file but it's right where it's suppose to be, and the directory is writable.
I have a problem with my internet connection this is the picture the device is Realtek RTL8187. i didn't know how can i manage this device to work so could you help me i don't have an internet connection in ubuntu right know and i really wanna move to ubntu my verison is 9.10
I'm getting rather fed up with this Network Manager applet on Ubuntu and its seemingly erratic behavior.I often use my laptop for things like dhcp server to do pxe boot on other machines for netboot installs and other stuff. Often I have to set static address on eth0 etc.I know how to set a static address for eth0 by editing /etc/network/interfaces and all that good stuff, but when I click on the Network Manager applet, it says 'Wired Network - not managed'.I may have deleted it for some reason, but why does it no longer appear, even though eth0 is working?I've also found in the past that changes to interfaces in the Network Manager, such as giving eth0 a static address, do not seem to stick?
