Servers :: Access MySQL In Ubuntu Guest From WinXP Host?
Jul 3, 2010
I have Virtualbox setup
WinXP Host
Ubuntu 10.04 is the guest
Mysql is installed in ubuntu and it works fine in the guest (ubuntu)
Internet works fine in the host and the guest. Bridged Network.
Now, here is the thing... i want to access mysql from my host to load some data into it.
I am running VMware workstation on a Linux host and WinXP guest using NAT. I have shared a folder on WinXP, and I am able to mount it on the linux host with: mount -t smbfs -o username=Administrator, password=mypasswd //192.168.100.129/Shared /mnt/tmp This works fine. However, I want to mount the same folder from a different linux machine (not the host).
I added port forwarding in /etc/vmware/vmnet8/nat/nat.conf: [incomingtcp] #445 = 192.168.100.129:445
If I run: mount -t smbfs -o username=Administrator,password=mypasswd //external_ip_number/Shared /mnt/tmp
I am getting: mount error 112 = Host is down Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)
It doesn't work even if I try the above command from the linux host itself. It only works if I use the internal IP number. I suspect vmware is not forwarding port 445 but I am not sure how to verify it. I am not running smbd on the linux host, in case that make any difference. I didn't think that was required because the server is really on the WinXP and the linux is just a client.
I can not access my MySQL database from any remote host on my home network, I keep getting "Access denied for user 'dbuser'@'192.168.1.10' (using password: YES)"
From what I've read this seems to be a permission problem, I tried
I used to be able to access the web server I had running on my guest OS in Virtual Box from my host OS. I also had it set to the network settings of "Host Only Adapter". Then I needed to access the internet directly on the gues OS, so I changed my settings on the guest OS to "NAT" (in virtual box), and in /etc/network/interfaces, I removed the loopback stuff and the static IP I'd put in. Now no matter what I do, I cannot get it back to being accessible from the host os! I even did a completely NEW install of Ubuntu guest OS in Virtual box Guest OS: Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop Host OS: OpenSUSE 11.3 VirtualBox: 3.2.6
I am trying to access shared folders in Virtual Box with Host OS being Windows7 and Guest OS is Fedora. Did anyone face a similar problem? I have been going through many solutions but none of them worked out. I am able to keep the required folders in Shared Folders making them Auto-Mount and Permanent. I tried to install Guest Additions from Devices, but I am not sure how to install the Guest-Additions software in Fedora. how to proceed so that I can access files in my shared folder.
I run KVM on 9.10 host and guest 9.10. Both are x64. When I halt the guest os: My host OS looses its connection with internet for 10-15 seconds and then it comes back on. Probably something goes wrong with default gateway, as it looses only external network (I still can reach it on my internal network). I've googled a lot, but cant find anything about that. I use bridged network.
Not sure if this post belongs here, but here it is.
Host: Win server 2003 Guest: Ubuntu server
Host: IS able to ping guest. Firewall is OFF. NOT able to access guest (which is a web-server) at browser. Guest: NOT able to ping host. Running a web server, you can check the website: (pegajosa.com) is running under that virtual Linux server.
Problem: guest needs to access host's sql database and/or any resources.
I couldn't find a clear answer to this, but is the linux-image-virtual package for host machines that will contain VMs, or a VM-oriented kernel for guest OS (ubuntu)? I have some guest VMs running on Microsoft's Hyper-V, and was looking for some further optimizations.
host is windows 2003 server 64-bit guest is ubuntu 9.04 server 64bit Qemu : 0.11.1 Qemu manager: 7.0
from Qemu manager, if network card is using User Networking, it's a NAT and I can see that Guest Ubuntu has an ip address 10.0.2.15 and is able to access the internet. However, as Guest ubuntu is running server so I want to do use Tap networking and I assue with Tap, the Guest ubuntu will get an ip address which is in the same subnet as host machine by dhcp. so from Qemu Manager 7.0, I changed Network card to be:
NE2000PCI Vlan Number =0 VLAN Type: Tap Networking Mac address: tap0's mac address from host TAP Network Adpator: Tap0
Note that tap0 was created by openvpn. and then fired Ubuntu guest, ifconfig shows no ip address on eth0 (which has the same mac address as Tap0) so the guest Ubuntu has no ip address and can't access public.
What will be the easiest way to ssh connect a VM on VirtualBox, exporting its desktop to host, while it is already running ? I found; Howto Access via ssh a Virtualbox Guest machine.
i'm new to MySQL and i designed a database using MySQL and PHP recently but dont know how to port it to my host company. How do i save the database on my flash drive then transfer to my host on my website's control panel.
I have on my computer 9.1 and I want to try some virtualization. I want to install WinXP or 7 as guest on my U9.1 box. what is your opinion? Which VMware or VirtualBox should I try?
I've tried using the "devices->Shared Folders" to create a shared folder but it didn't work. I still couldn't see it from the guest OS (winXP). I also, tried sharing a folder in winXP and then tried adding a network folder in dolphin - also didn't work.
I've just installed LAMP. http://localhost/ page works fine. I need to create some virtual hosts. Localhost page is situated in /var/www/. It's normal for me, and I wanted to created virtualhost (in /var/www/vhost1) But it doesn't open in browser. Where is my mistake?
/etc/apache2/ports.conf Code: NameVirtualHost *:80 Listen 80 <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl
I'm trying to install the Guest Additions for a VM running a guest Lucid Lynx Server. The problem I'm encountering is this: The vboxadd-install.log for vbox says it "couldn't find the sources of your current Linux kernel" and to "Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run Make again."
I set up mod_proxy in order to get rid of :8080 now I cant access phpmyadmin through the browser. what is the quickest way to turn off mod_proxy and access phpmyadmin? I would like to optimize the tables and back up the sql file. I just need to turn it on for a bit, and then enable mod_proxy again.Right now, if I got to localhost/phpmyadmin, it redirects to the main application.
I have used a2enmod, and added sudo a2enmod proxy sudo a2enmod proxy_http sudo a2enmod proxy_ajp
I'm running an Ubuntu 9.04 Minimal server and trying to get MySQL to work correctly. But when I try to access MySQL with the root user it doesn't want to.
I erased Windows a week ago and is loving Ubuntu 10.04 (which changed to xubuntu after installing Qimo for Kids??) ever since. Now I want to get coding again and PHP is working fine, but I can't access mysql!?I followed a ton of guides, completely removed, reinstalled etc. Nothing works. Here some stuff that might be interresting. I can't remember the "ls" and "awk" and "grep" commands to use, so please guide me if you need more info.
sudo mysql status ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) sudo update-rc.d mysql defaults update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/mysql missing LSB information
We started our project (it's a website "employee performance appraisal system") in windows by starting with some html forms and then slowlyadded php ,javascript and other stuff in windows we had no issues of insertion and retrieval of data from thedatabase. Now,we decided to shift the entire stuff to drupal the html forms along with those php files but we had 2 issues with this1. the first one was ..we created "page" for each html form and copied the html code into "page" but we didn't find where our pages are getting stored (do they get stored in mysql database that we create for drupal siter do they remain as html pages somwhere?)2.second problem was ...for admin in drupal I gave the username "root" and a password ..similarly for mysql also I gave a password.
now I used phpmyadmin and created another database called "appraisal" which is supposed to hold the data of our website.when I try to insert data into one of the tables of this database (attendance table) ,the following error occured "Attempt to connect failed access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'(using password:NO) cannot run querry insert intoattendance values('x','y')" Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (usingpassword:NO)Also I'm unable to access mysql as a normal user only super user can access and can we unset the password that's required to reach mysqlprompt?
One server is a dedicated MySQL server. After upgrading that one to Ubuntu 10.04 (from an ancient Suse 9.2), both servers are running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.I have another server that I use to administer the database server via phpMyAdmin. However since the upgrade it is not able to connect. I get an error #1130 Cannot log in to the MySQL server. The same happens if I try to connect remotely from the command line with: mysql -u root -h 129.79.137.121 -pI'm not sure if this is an iptables/ports problem or a configuration problem on the MySQL end or something else entirely.I've searched and tried the suggestions I've found in various places but none seems to have fixed it.
I configured the server freeradius with mysql and I think I configured well freeradius and mysql but when I m testing my configuration with: radtest nezar azerty 127.0.0.1 0 azerty1234 I have always: rad_recv: Access-Reject packet from host 127.0.0.1 port 1812, id=108, length=20
I'm not sure is this is possible or not, but what I would like to do is take my public address mydomain.com and configure a virtual host something.mydomain.com only instead of having the content on the same server I would like it to point to the IP of my virtual machine that is in my private network and display that page publicly. Does anyone know if this is possible, or how to do it? I have done this with port forwards, but would like them both to be on the same port.
Using httpd - everything usually works but I have written a cgi script and placed in cgi-bin but i cannot access this dir and keep getting forbidden messages. I have tried adding my root and usual user to the /etc/group file against the user stipulated in the httpd.conf file but i still can't access the cgi script i wrote (in browser - localhost/cgibin/myscrippt.cgi) when i place it in the cgi-bin under htdocs. i have also chmod 755 directory and files.
I am up and running. Symptom: webapp/servlet deployed to Tomcat, utilizes JDBC driver for MySQL connectivity. Upon launching application in browser and performing action requiring database interaction, exception thrown, server log:
My Linux server which is running my company website have been hacked. Today I saw a number of clients (customers) with some fun characters entries on my database. Access denial on really clients.
I was trying to install MySQLbd (a module for python to connect and access MySQL) I followed these steps for installation[URL].. but while I am getting some installation errors. When I try to run $ python set.py build I am getting the following errors (I removed few errors as I can post more than 10000 characters here)
I set up a servber on my local machine, & also PHp - Both working fine.I'm trying to load up MYSQL i have installed it, & *can* start/stop the server. however if I do anything else with it, I get this error :-
Quote:
root@gordon-desktop:~# sudo mysqladmin -u root -h localhost password MYPASSWORD mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'
Query :-
1) How do I know MYSQL is actually active ? (apart from the message it says that its statrted (or stopped).
2) Is there a way to
a) Find out the usernames that are recorded on the MYSQL server ? b) set / RESET the 'root' username (I know MYSQL root user is different to PC root user) c) anything else I can do on the PHP / website code to see if MYSQL is working
(as yet, no tables / databases etc have been set up - as I can't get past this error message - I get the same error when setting up a database.)
Ps I did allow my usermname (when logged in to ubuntu) to edit / create files in the /usr/www/ directory (but it is still OWNED by 'root' - that directory)
