Server :: Unable To Run Nmon Under SLES11

I'm having trouble running nnom under SLES 11 SP 1. The only version of nmon I can find is for SLES 10, but from what I can tell it should work. However, it isn't. When I try to run nmon_x86_sles10 I get the following error:-

During SLES11 installation I had to provide additional driver for ServeRAID-M1015 hardware RAID controller because linux didn't see any disks. Now I have to upgrade SLES11 to SLES11SP1 which may include installation of new kernel.
Questions :
1. What happens with this RAID driver after installing new kernel ?
2. Will Linux box start up after installing new kernel ?

How do you change the hostname in SLES11? I have normally used the /etc/hostname file and rebooted the server in other distros. I only notice the way to change it is in yast2 -> network devices -> network settings -> Hostnames. I am looking for where it is stored because I want to write a script to update it (apart of a server deployment process).

I 'm using vmware server to virtualized suse linux enterprise server11 as the guest operating system under my main OS of window 7 professional version, but when i plug on the pen drive, SLES11 (guest OS) that hosted under vmware with window 7 prefessional as main OS can't detect of my pendrive but i can do this before at window XP version...

I want to know which 2 are from which machine. I would like to find out the WWID number of HBA�s on SLES 11 machine.

So I've got a Dell Poweredge R410 with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 installed and my boss wants me to configure it like this:
Eth0 - No IP address (on general tab, activation set to "never")
Eth1 - No IP address (on general tab, activation set to "never")
Eth2 - No IP address (on general tab, activation set to "never")
Eth3 - No IP address (on general tab, activation set to "never")
bond0 - eth0, eth1, eth2, eth3 selected (Activation set to "On boot") No IP Address
bridge0 - bond0 selected (Activation set to "On boot"). IP, subnet and hostname defined.
The DNS and routing has all been set correctly. The problem is when I set the network configuration as above I cannot connect to the network I'm unable to ping the gateway. I only have 1 cable connected and it's plugged into eth0 but apparently this doesn't matter. If I delete the bond and bridge and instead apply the settings to eth0 it connects no problem but my boss wants to use load balancing and states that that setup should work.

at our SLES11 server there is an iscsi tape roboter from OVERLAND attached. From this great forum we learnt to use udev rules in order to fix the device name for the media changer /dev/sgN where N is altering after each reboot. Here is the udevinfo output of our tape changer:

I didn't have any luck finding the solution for not getting opengl working on a SLES11 server with a remote X-Win32 client. As a reference I've used the tool "glxgears" for testing.We have two servers. One (server A) with SLES10 and the other (server B) with SLES11. We use X-Win32 (ver. 9.x) as an X-server on a Microsoft Windows client machine. Both servers are connected to with ssh with X11 forwarding enabled (Xclock works fine on both).Starting glxgears from server A works fine; Three nice gears are displayed.

Currently I run into a rather confusing case. I met bellow mount errors when I was about to enter the rescue mode on SLES11:

Reading Driver Update...

Then I tried to extract the rescue image and to see what's wrong in the scrip, but it turn out that there is no boot script under /etc/init.d directory, either a similar one that may as it.
where is the script or which is the script does the mount things in rescue image?
PLUS, I can see /etc/init.d/boot script in SLES10 rescue image.

I am trying to install either Ubuntu or CentOS server in text mode only. The problem I am having is that the hardware that I am trying to install it on has no vga output, I can only connect to it via console cable. I am able to boot from USB CDROm or flash drive but unfortunately since the hardware does not have a gpu (atleast none that I'm aware of) I am unable to get past the boot screen. If someone can point me in the right direction or know where I would be able to download the text install of either OS, that would be awesome.

I have tftp-server running on Centos 5. Clients which are on the same subnet as the server are able to get and put without problems. I have a client that is across the internet that is having trouble getting files from my tftp server. A tcpdump reveals that the client is requesting the same file over and over again. In /var/log/messages, I am see the following error repeated over and over until the client finally gives up.

I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

We're running a sendmail server on a fedora core 9 which we've configured recently. The problem is, the server is working fine but there are some e-mails that enter our server but doesn't get forwarded to the user.

I have two situations here :
1) I have my Nagios running on the linux box and BMC Remedy Server on the Solaris box. I have simulated a mail from Nagios to be delivered to the Remedy server. But the Remedy Server does not receive it. I even tried snooping on port 25 but nothing has reached the box.

In oreder to run an application software on RHEL 3 ES server, I created a link forcefully using following command from root id:
# cd /lib64/tls/
# ln -sf libc-2.3.4.so libc.so.6
before that I copied file libc-2.3.4.so from a workstation with OS RHEL 4 WS so that a link can be created.
Now I am unable to run any command except cd & pwd and it gives error messaage as given below:
ls:relocation error:/lib64/tls/libc.so.6:symbol _rtld_global_ro,version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux-x86-64.so.2with link time reference.
Before running this command libc.so.6 was pointing to libc-2.3.so file in path /lib64/libc-2.3.2.so.
I am now unable even to open a new window on the server.Please send me some solution as early as possible because this server is running production data and many users are runnig application on this server.

I run my own mail server. There's only one part that isn't working and I can't seem to figure out why: sending mail from a client - in this case, Thunderbird.
I can send mail off-server just fine if I log in via telnet. I can receive email just fine with Thunderbird.

I am trying to make a bootable DVD in RHEL5 but it wont let me write to DVD. I have tried following command to write to DVD:
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -v -eject /root/inst/images/boot.iso
dvdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -v -eject /root/inst/images/boot.iso
I am getting the following error message when I run the above commands:
Error trying to open /dev/hdc exclusively... retrying in 1 second.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'
cdrecord: Device or resource busy. Cannot open '/dev/hdc'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
I have also checked /dev/ directory and cdrom is linked to hdc and cdrom-hdc.

I would like to ask the expertise here about this issue which I am having at the moment. I am unable to VNC to my server. I have configured all the necessary steps to enable the vncserver. But there will be an error stating "main: unable to connect to host: No route to host (113". I have checked on my network side which I did not block any what so ever port on the firewalls and the switches. I am able to ping the server but the main problem is that I am unable to remote VNC to that server. I have several servers which I have configured with the same configuration and only that particular 1 server that could not VNC. This is getting frustrating.

We are trying to set up a NIS server on a CentOS system. We need to have a NIS server which can provide NIS authentication to a couple of clients. We are practically new to all this stuff.
Just googled to find some ideas about installing ypserv and ypbind and portmapper. We did all that and also started them successfully. But now the clients are not able to join to the NIS domain . The error log states "YP_DOMAIN NOT BOUND".
I guess we have not entered the /etc/yp.conf, /etc/hosts files properly. Please let us know the detailed steps to setup a NIS server .
Also, please let us know what entries should go into the different /etc/<file_names>? What is meant by HOSTNAME in the /etc/hosts file?
Is there any other files which need to be changed? Are we missing any steps?
Also to add-on, while executing the ypinit command we faced the following error:
