Feb 11, 2011I use sendmail as the MTA for our company. Lately employees have started working from home. These home users send their email through our company MTA using SASL-AUTH. This works fine for the most part but lately we've seen problems with this. The SORBS blacklist looks not only at the IP address of our company's MTA but also at the IP address of our employees home computers. (After all, the home computer IP address is revealed in the mail header.)
SORBS has been rejecting emails sent from our home users because their dynamic IP address is present in the email headers. This is true despite their email passing through our company MTA which is on a properly forward and reverse mapped static IP. The company MTA is not listed in SORBS but the mere presence of a dynamic IP somewhere in the mail header is causing outright rejection. This seems bizarre to me considering home workers sending through a company relay is a common and reasonable business practice.
Can sendmail offer a solution here? For example, to change headers to obscure the IP address of the MUA or make the email appear to have originated directly on the MTA? I don't want to mess with internet RFC but frankly I'm out of ideas for how to get the mail delivered.

Sep 30, 2010i want to set up an email server both to receive and send emails. I also am on a dynamic ip scheme with my ISP. I do have a dynamic dns account with no-ip.org the Questions are:
-will somebody be able to send emails to me at the <user>@<dyndns_name>.no-ip.org email address?
-will I be able to send emails from the <user>@<dyndns_name>.no-ip.org email address?
I know i'll be able to login to accounts like gmail and yahoo and download emails from there.. but even that i don't know - even macroscopically how its done:
-is it the sendmail deamon that accepts the mail from <me>@gmail.com, <me>@yahoo.com, <me>@<dyndns_name>.no-ip.org?
-is it the sendmail deamon that does the sending of email (as well)?
-can it push emails that I want to send as <me>@gmail.com to the gmail smtp servers (and they in turn will push my email even further)?
-can it push emails from <me>@<dyndns_name>.no-ip.org to receipients?
and finally,
-WILL receiving pop/imap servers allow incoming email from my server? or due to the dynamic ip they'll assume I'm a spam server?

I need a script that can remove a block of php code that spans multiple lines, multiple directories/files and is dynamic, meaning that part of the code changes. I think using find/sed is what I need but cannot seem to figure out how to get it to work.The following is the script that is being injected everywhere. The catch is that they have generated dynamic code at the start/end of the script. CentOS 5 Server :: Use DHCP All Our Clients Use Dynamic IP Addresses For The Ease?
Sep 1, 2010I'm new to Centos 5 (and Linux) and, after installing Centos, I configured Samba, Apche, ... w/o problems (through interactive interface). My problem is tha t I need to use DHCP (all our clients use dynamic IP addresses for the ease) but I don't find dhcpd ... nor the sample config file(s).
Note : the new server I intend to use is actually connected on a LAN with an 'old' DHCP server (still under W2K server), is this the reason why I can't find/activate dhcp on my new machine ???

Nov 17, 2010I've recently installed a RedHat Enterprise Linux server and am attempting to get PHP/MySQL installed on it. It cannot load the dynamic php mysql module, giving me an error (in /var/log/error_log) that reads as follows:
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/mysql.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/mysql.so: undefined symbol: executor_globals in Unknown on line 0
(In fact, it fails to load ALL of the dynamic php modules, either with the "undefined symbol: executor_global" or "undefined symbol: core_globals" I DO NOT WANT to compile anything -- I want to stay with stock RedHat released software.

Feb 13, 2010I want to configure a VPN over the Internet.I installed the 'openvpn' package, generated the key file, transfered it by a secure way to the client, and setted up the configuration file.
So, in that configuration file I input the IP addresses of the tunneled interfaces. Both IPs are static in the tunnel.
Then, I've heard somewhere that I can assign a dynamic configuration IP for the client. I do this registering a range.
Well, when I tried to change static IP to dynamic IP (changing '192.168.0.2' to '192.168.0.0/24') in the configuration file, the OpenVPN didn't work.
Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, and I really, don't believe that simply changing the IP will make it work, but I tried.
I hope I explained my problem as well.
My configuration file:

Mar 27, 2010Is there any way to change Dynamic IP on Linux ? as smeagol271006 mentioned in his thread , we have to disable avahi daemon to get this above code to work properly. dhcpcd trick worked like a charm for me but i have 2 major problem.
problem 1. I always get the same dynamic ip. I need to change dhcpcd -r IP by hand to get a new dyn IP.
problem 2. since i disabled avahi and network manager , i can no longer use DHCP feature . I have no choice but to enter dhcpcd code snippet manually to assign a dynamic IP for every system restart. Is there any clean way to get a new dynamic IP without using dhcpcd ?

I need your advice on how to do it. All the manuals I've read deal with two ethernet cards that have static IPs. It seems that YAST lacks the GUI for it, too. Also, I need the configuration to work even with no user logged in so I'm using ifup instead of NetworkManager.

Nov 30, 2010I'm having two problems with remote syslogging with this configuration in syslog.conf:
*.info;authpriv.*;cron.* @myhost.dnsalias.com
As you can see the logging is made to an host with dynamic ip, and as soon as the ip changes the logging seems to stop.
Another thing is that it only seems to log the first part (*.info), the other ones don't appear.

I was wondering if it is possible to do the following: suppose there is a www and it contains 3 pages: aboutus.php, index.php and contactus.php within each side there are 3 other pages you could say 1*.php,2*.php,3*.php, where * stands for any of {aboutus,index,contactus}. I was wondering how, if it is possible, to implement the following mechanism.
If users requires 2a.php go to aboutus/2aboutus.php or if it is 1i.php then go to index/1index.php. What this does it translates addresses that user requires into the original links that are stored at the server. Then, if I want to change the translation I just change the naming convention say 22a.php or 11i.php and updates my mapping mechanism. Is it possible to implement it with mod_proxy_http ? so that you could dynamically (at once, without restarting apache and without any delays) change this mapping to whatever you want ? maybe there is another module I should look at ? Or shall I implement it myself?

Jul 25, 2011I have comcast xfinity high speed dsl, with a dual boot win2000/opensuse 10.3 system. I'm connected in win2000, but I can't quite figure out how to configure comcast's dynamic ip address' in opensuse 10.3, either on command line, or in KDE with YAST (scream on the latter attempt).
I've looked up all man pages on ip cpnfig, but the problem is that my last internet connection was through a router with a static ip address, and I can't quite figure out the shell command from man pages ( I've tried dozens of combos like ip addr [change] {dynamic|on} etc. from what I could gather from man page instructions, but I can't seem to get the dev object and options worded just right), and I'm about ready to throw my monitor at the wall during every YAST attempt (and of course YAST doesn't pick up my dsl automatically and why it's asking for a comcast userid upon manual entry I haven't the slightest).
