problem is that I have no idea where it is getting the 63.123.155.104 address from. Its not mine and its not the IP of the server..

We recently had an issue with our sendmail where the mail that was being sent to certain corporate users was being bounced as the domain name couldn't be qualified. After much sole searching we provided the server with the fully qualified domain name and all was well. When a user sends a mail to an internal user in our organisation it bounces with a user unknown. It would appear that it is looking for the user on this server now rather than on the exchange server where they reside. We have a smart relay address in the config file to ensure the external mail went out correctly.
As an example we have the entry in the host file as:
1.1.5.72 serverx2 foofighters.com serverx2.ad.foofighters.com
The Smart Relay as:
# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DSxchange1.ad.foofighters.com
On exchange we have aliases as userx@foo.com where the users email address is ser.x@foofighters.com. Now when the mail is sent to userx@foo.com the server sends ok. If you send to user.x@foofighters.com we get a user unknown.
I've got a home server running Ubuntu Server 9.04 and several machines running Ubuntu Desktop (9.04 and 8.04) and Windows (XP, Vista and 7). Now what I want to do is to create a domain and directory server similar in function to Windows Server w/ AD and join my other machines to the domain, but am not sure where to start. iam using centos5.2.configured qmail,vpopmail. while adding domain form vadddomain<domain.co.in> At first time domain folder get created in domains directory.and also postmaster user also get created by default.And also in mysql. Now the problem is after some times or rebooting system domain get erased automatic.also in /var/qmail/users/assign file domain name get erased.

What confuses me is when I create a new domain on my server it gives the new domain it's own nameservers (ns1.thenewdomain.co.uk etc) do I need to change these records so they use the nameservers I created earlier? I have a Linux machine which is on my network but not on my domain. I have configured SAMBA FILESERVER for file sharing purpose. I have a Windows XP PC which is on the domain(windows server) that I am trying to connect to a share on the Linux box. I supply my credentials but regardless of which login I use I always get Logon Failure. I have created an account on the Linux machine with the same user name and password as my domain account but so far no luck. Can I connect from a domain PC to a non-domain Linux box? Is there something else I should be checking?
I'm working for a smallish non-profit that has gone through some recent growing pains. We have two sites that are currently without a domain controller, and no money for MS licenses, so I was thinking of trying to add a couple of additional Linux machines (we already run Linux for web services internally, and I've set up a test case previously to see if I could get a server to join the domain, which was a success) and was trying to find out if I can get them to act as Domain Controllers without replacing the domain. The main issue that I'm having at those locations is drive mappings are not happening correctly against our DFS file servers. The one other location that had this issue had it go away when we added a local DC. The domain is a Server 2008 domain.

But when i try send E-mail via sendmail to mail@mydomainonsameserver.com it not deliver mail to Google Apps totally, if i try to send to another E-mail everything fine it deliver it. so finally i done research this problem in Internet. And find that need to disable deliver mail to localhost(localdelivery)as i think postfix understand that the domain point to the same server where postfix have itself. and try to deliver mail local. but zonefile MX record even the domain on same server can point to another server outside. So i disabled localdelivery in postfix. and problem not fixed

I am newbie to postfix. I added a new domain to my postfix server in the main.cf under mydestinations variable and the relay_domains file. Also, added this domain to my backend exchange server. When I send a test message from the new domain, my messages from that domain appear to be stuck in the "queue active". What does it mean when you are stuck in this queue? Does this mean that my backend email server (exchange 2003) isn't allowing messages from this new domain OR that the POSTFIX server still needs configuring.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a server that runs on a static IP address with many hosting accounts. I am using the IspCP to manage the different sites. When a mail is sent, the headers include the box's own domain name: [URL]. Now [URL] is no longer active, so if an email from another account: [URL] sends mail, there is possibility that this mail is rejected by the receiver, if the receiver system does rDNS.
The receiving server will check the headers smtp sent from [URL] and come up as a fake, because [URL] is no longer registered. I wonder if there is a way to make the smtp headers reflect only the domain name that sent the mail. Then if joe sends mail, the server should replace[URL] with [URL]. If this is possible, then users that send mail will not get bounced because the rDNS lookup will map [URL] to the ip and the mail will be accepted.
My customer has a domain hosted by me and he has another domain hosted by another isp. He would like to have this domain am hosted to be forwarded so thwt upon entering the url he should have the website which is hosted by this other ISP displayed (the url of the website be musked). View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fully automate a Minecraft server, and I decided to use Ubuntu 11.04 on this computer. The computer I'm using for it is an old computer (it's the old family PC, it's about 5 years old (and running amazingly now that I've formatted the hard drive (compared to how it used to run))) so it won't run the Unix environment (or something like that) and runs the Gnome environment instead.
Anyways; the server auto-starts when my computer turns on (my computer also automatically turns on). Now all I need to do is have my computer auto-shutdown at 12:00AM as well as enter the command "stop" into the running terminal. I plan to later add more commands (such as automatically welcoming people to the server when they connect, but that's not important right now and I'll likely be able to figure out if I can get this working).
This is the command I'm using to shutdown the computer:
sudo shutdown -P 24:00
However, it doesn't work. First of all, I need to enter my password, so I need some way to have the shell file enter my password for me whenever the terminal asks for it. Second of all, it just plan doesn't work, even if I enter my password (like, the countdown doesn't appear). As for entering commands into the terminal, the only way I can think of is:echo "stop" But the problem is that doesn't work because it wont enter into the running terminal (and I don't know how to do that).

1. Can I have a Domain Controller without DHCP server?
2. Should I run virtual server headless? so I dont install any gui?
3. This should have been my 1st question. I have two disks, is raid handled by the Bios or do I have to do something in linux(DMRAID)?
