Server :: Iptables To Forward According To The Domain?

Jul 22, 2011

my company is a small company!and it only have one public ip,but my company have a lot of websites to access!now i use Reverse Proxy Server -- apahce to solve temporary!it is not convenience for me !So i think out whether iptables can not be used to forward according to the domain!!it is the test as follows:

public ip :10.0.0.1
privite ip1 :192.168.1.1
matching website domain:www1.test.com
privite ip2:192.168.1.2
matching website domain:www2.test.com

and if someone access [URL] the iptables will know they want to access 192.168.1.1 and it will forward to the server 192.168.1.1!!

Ubuntu Servers :: Forward Traffic From A Domain To Another Server Behind A Firewall

Jan 29, 2010

I have a server on my router on the DMZ. All outside traffic goes to it. This server has Apache running and the domain mysite.com resolves to the the DMZ web server. I have a second server on the LAN that also has apache running. I want to set up another domain, myothersite.com to resolve to the second server on the LAN. Since the main server is on DMZ I have the DNS A records for myothersite.com pointing to the public IP that the DMZ is on.

How do I get myothersite.com to resolve to the second webserver on the LAN? What configuration do I need to do on my DMZ server so it routes traffic for myothersite.com to the other server on teh LAN? Do I use BIND DNS? If so please advise on how to set that up. BIND DNS seems confusing and I having trouble knowing how to configuring it. Is there another option besides BIND?

General :: When Create A New Domain On My Server It Gives The New Domain It's Own Nameservers

Jun 4, 2011

I want to host 5 websites on my new virtual server so I have created 2 nameservers that point to my virtual server's IP addresses as a glue record. What confuses me is when I create a new domain on my server it gives the new domain it's own nameservers (ns1.thenewdomain.co.uk etc) do I need to change these records so they use the nameservers I created earlier? If I do? Which particular records should I change? I'm running a Unix virtual server with a Plesk control panel.

Server :: Connecting To A Samba (not On Domain) From Windows Domain Pc?

Jun 27, 2011

i need to allow window domain controller user to use file share of linux.windows DC user can see the share file and directories of linux file server but not able to access.

below is brief--

I have a Linux machine which is on my network but not on my domain. I have configured SAMBA FILESERVER for file sharing purpose. I have a Windows XP PC which is on the domain(windows server) that I am trying to connect to a share on the Linux box. I supply my credentials but regardless of which login I use I always get Logon Failure. I have created an account on the Linux machine with the same user name and password as my domain account but so far no luck. Can I connect from a domain PC to a non-domain Linux box? Is there something else I should be checking?

Server :: Domain Controller On A Current Windows Domain?

Dec 30, 2010

I'm working for a smallish non-profit that has gone through some recent growing pains. We have two sites that are currently without a domain controller, and no money for MS licenses, so I was thinking of trying to add a couple of additional Linux machines (we already run Linux for web services internally, and I've set up a test case previously to see if I could get a server to join the domain, which was a success) and was trying to find out if I can get them to act as Domain Controllers without replacing the domain. The main issue that I'm having at those locations is drive mappings are not happening correctly against our DFS file servers. The one other location that had this issue had it go away when we added a local DC. The domain is a Server 2008 domain.

Ubuntu Servers :: Buying Domain / Hosting Web Server / All Domain Registers Come With Email Or Just Email Forwarding?

Mar 29, 2010

I am thinking about buying a domain name and hosting my web server.

I have seen pricing from $8 to $30 a year. Any favorites from fellow ubunters? Also this whole "whois" thing scares me, if I am correct my information I enter when buying the domain is enter into some big pool of information. People can find this information out and dig up important information. url Can I prevent this with private Whois or how do I set it up? This website examples some of my fears with this whole WhoIs thing, url whois/Private-Whois.html Does most/all domain registers come with email or just email forwarding or both? How does that work? At this moment, my only question about Web Hosting is how do I get Website Statistics as in: Stats, web analytics, web traffic stats and more? I will be web hosting through Ubuntu 9.10 gnome.

Ubuntu Servers :: Access Web Site When Site's Domain Name / User's Local Server's Domain Name Are Same

Feb 18, 2010

In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

Quote:

ISC joined other key participants of the internet technical community in celebrating the achievement of a significant milestone for the Domain Name System today as the root zone was digitally signed for the first time. This marked the deployment of the DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) at the top level of the DNS hierarchy and ushers the way forward for further roll-out of DNSSEC in the top level domains and DNS Service Providers.

OpenSUSE Network :: Domain- Incapable MS Windows Version To Join Suse Domain?

Jun 9, 2010

I was wondering if there is any way to enable an MS Windows client that is otherwise unable of joining a domain to join a domain controlled by (open)SUSE? Is that inability only for joining a Windows based domain but a client that runs XP Home Edition or similar domain- incapable version of Windows could join a domain if it was controlled by Linux?Pardon my newbie style, but answer doesn't have to be detailed step-by-step, just yes/no answer with some pointers would do. I am not new to linux but new to network services... search engines weren't friendly when asked this question at the search bar...

Ubuntu :: How Interacts With Domain Users When On The Windows Domain

Feb 3, 2010

At work, we run Windows... Windows domain, windows workstations, etc. Today my boss asked me my thoughts on running an Ubuntu lab within the mixture of our existing Windows setup.

Well, that brought several questions to mind. So I understand you can bind an Ubuntu computer to a Windows domain, seems easy enough, whether you do it through Samba or the other guide I read that I kind of forget at the moment, but anyway...

I was just curious how Ubuntu interacts with domain users when on the windows domain. For example, if we have an Ubuntu machine on the Windows domain with a local user "administrator" and that's it, would any domain users be able to log into the Ubuntu work station, similar to how it is on Windows?

Fedora Networking :: Windows Sever 2k3 Domain Controller / Use Machine With Samba As Secondary Domain Controller?

Apr 28, 2009

At the school i work in i have a server2k3 server that provides a domain to all the windows clients, aswell as a fedora server that acts as an imaging machine and webserver.

Im rather concious of the fact that if for any reason the Server2k3 server was to die there is no backup of active directory, or anything that can take its place whilst a replacement is found.

So is it possible to use a fedora machine with samba as a secondary domain controller? so it can be used as a login server, and has a copy of AD.

Networking :: DNS Server For New Domain?

Aug 7, 2009

I realize this is not a Linux specific question, but I figure Linux admins have a better understanding of networking in general. I assume this is a very basic/beginner question, but it has been puzzling me for a little while. Here goes: If I register a new domain (let's mydomain123.com) and I want to use my own DNS server. After registering the domain name, at the registrar, I want to set my DNS servers to be:

[URL]

My question is, how does the registrar (or root name servers) know what the ip address of ns1.mydomain123.com is? I will obviously set the IP address on my dns servers. At first glance, I would think this is impossible, since ns1 is just a record inside the specific domain that it is authoritative for. However, I have seen several examples companies who have a setup exactly like this.
