Programming :: Frameset Target Not Working Properly

Feb 19, 2011

I have a webpage in html that uses <frameset> tag. One of the frames is a Table of Contents (toc.htm) that lists a series of images. The other frame is called 'canvas.htm'. My framset is laid out as follows:

<frameset rows="20%, 80%">
<frame src="./banner_sp.htm" ></frame>
<frameset cols="15, 85">
<frame name="toc" src="./toc.htm" ></frame>
[Code]....

The frameset is created properly and I can load the images manually (i.e. I can access the images from my browser and/or image editing tool). The problem comes when I attempt to access the images from the toc.htm frame. Instead of opening the image in the canvas.htm frame, a new window is displayed in my browser, instead of the image being displayed in the target window (canvas.htm). This happens on all of my browsers (firefox, safari, IE7/8 and Opera) on Windows, debian-linux and OS X 10.5/10.6.

If I change my src attribute (in the canvas frame) to toc.htm, I see the Table of Contents (toc.htm) displayed side-by-side until I click on the first drawing in the list. At this point, the frame 'behaves' half-arsed the way I want it to. I have searched on google till I am blue(er) in the face with no luck.

Programming :: How To Get Zenity Progress Bar Working Properly

Apr 14, 2011

I am busy writing this script to get a pixel count of a large batch of images in a directory for a research project. To do this I'm using a loop to get all the images in the directory. To make the whole procedure more user friendly for some colleagues I decided to use zenity, something I haven't yet really worked with. As not to make sure that the users don't have to watch to this blank screen during the actual processing of the images I'm trying to get the zenity progress bar working. So far the progress bar comes up but instead of changing over time it stays "empty" till all the images are processed and then becomes 100% when all images are done. What servers my needs for now, but since I am trying to learn more about zenity I was wondering how I could change the script to get the progress bar properly working? Below is the piece of script I am talking about.

Code:
cd $input #goto path of image directory
(for a in *jpg *JPG *jpeg *JPEG; do
if [ -f "$a" ]; then #was it a image file
b="$a" #set b to $a
convert -resize 1000x1000! ${b} -depth 1 -format %c histogram:info:$b.txt #get pixelcount and write to .txt file
fi
done) | zenity --progress

Server :: Some Options In System-config-samba Dialog Are Not Working Properly?

Apr 13, 2010

I am using Fedora 12. I have the following problem, when i working with system-config-samba dialog:I add the new user on the server:as following:

Unix username: vova
Windows username:test

As described in Customisation Guide for Red Hat 9: "If the user has a different username on a Windows machine and will be logging into the Samba serverfrom the Windows machine, specify that Windows username in the Windows Username field."So i logged from the Windows machine not under test(Windows username) but under vova.And i logged in without the problem. However it seems that samba should check windows username=test (as have written in samba-config) and ask an password for different users. And additionally, if samba check the currect user in Windows itself and verify it with Unix user, what for we need write the Windows username in samba config? I don't understand

Software :: Mythwelcome - Auto Shutdown And System Clock Not Working Properly

Mar 29, 2010

I installed Mythbuntu 9.04 about 9 months to a year ago and (for the most part) I haven't had any problems with mythwelcome, automatic shutdown or the system clock. The "for the most part" relates to the fact that the clock on mythbuntu has always been 4 minutes fast. Then, just last week, the system started acting up - for some reason the system clock changed to 8-10 minutes fast (6 minutes faster than it was previously). To fix this problem, I have tried manually setting the "time and date" setting, and I have also tried setting the "time and date" setting to sync with an internet server. Lastly, I tried changing the system time through the motherboard bios. In each situation, mythwelcome would initially start up with the correct time. Then, several seconds later, the time shown in mythwelcome would change to being 4 minutes fast (as I described above). The time would also be 4 minutes fast when I enter the frontend.

I was willing to live with this, but the weird part is that when I start the system now (assuming I don't have any programs scheduled to record), mythwelcome boots up fine and I see the indication that "MythTV is idel and will shutdown in XXX seconds". Then, it flashes to "MythTV is idle" - like it used to; except now, it doesn't flash back to the countdown for shutting down mythtv. One time when I started the system when I was adjusting the time as mentioned above, I noticed that mythwelcome went to the "MythTV is idle" around the same time it changed the clock to 4 minutes fast - I think there is definitely a correlation here.

I checked out all the settings and nothing else has been changed that would otherwise affect MythTV from shutting itself down. The other interesting part is that I can get the shutdown countdown back if I go to "Utilities / Setup", "Setup", and "Mythbuntu". In the popup screen I choose "MythTV Configuration" and select "Launch MythTV Setup". I get a popup box that says that the mythbackend must be closed (as expected). Then I immediately exit mythtv-setup and the system runs "mythfilldatabase". I exit the Mythbuntu Control Centre and exit the frontend. When I get back to mythwelcome, the shutdown countdown comes back.

The same issue occurs when I type the password to open kwalletmanager, I suppose the two things are connected.

Programming :: GDB (Control C) Command Not Working

May 12, 2011

I've just started using gdb at my new job, and I'm having a small issue debugging C++ with it. After I execute "continue" or "run" through gdb, I'm not able to return control to gdb. Based on the documentation I read, I should be able to use Control-C to interrupt the program, and have control return to gdb.

This does not work on my setup. Not sure if it's related, but I'm debugging on a remote machine. I tried through PuTTY and xterm using Exceed XServer. In both cases, gdb does not respond to Control-C. This is quite annoying because I have to restart my program every time I want to set a breakpoint.

Debian Programming :: Way To Create Cross-platform GUI Application

Oct 30, 2014

I'm looking for a way to create a cross-platform GUI application. The result must be able to run on linux, windows and OSX. And it must be a point-and-click GUI.For development I should be able to rely on Open-Source tools on linux only (that means no access to Windows or OSX)The target should be able to install the result relatively easily, that means any dependencies must be freely available, and the setup steps must be very minimal (probably means no installing development tools or running compilers)

My first thought was java, but the standard Swing GUI can look a bit ugly on some platforms. So I'm wondering if there's anything else. My next thought was C++/Qt, but I don't think I can cross-compile this from Debian for Windows or OSX, can I? Next I thought of python and PyQt, but it looks like PyQt isn't available for OSX. And finally I even thought of making some kind of web application running on a tiny web server of some kind, then accessing it with a native browser, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't meet the "easy to install" criteria. I'm finding this so tricky, do all the existing cross-platform applications use natively-compiled C++ for this? Or is there an obvious alternative that I'm overlooking?
