Jul 4, 2010I have been using wamp on an xp box and now have set up ubuntu with the localhost server seeming to be going okay.
As this is just a desktop graphical test server with no real public hosting, I was hoping to find a control panel like in wamp where one can stop/start php, apache, mysql, phpmyadmin and see logs etc.

Jan 5, 2011My ISP Blocks port 80 so I changed the port to 8081 after I do this and restart Apache and use my IP with :8081 after I get a page saying Not Found The requested URL /index.html was not found on this server. I get this same message if I use my real IP or the IP from my router. What can be causing this?

May 23, 2010Quite often I need someone to transfer a file to my laptop, and it's often different OS to different OS, and setting file-sharing, sshd/ssh, ftpd/ftp, and whatever else not is often not worth it. A USB key is also not always handy or big enough.
But, it's easy to be on the same network, just hard to get service working on top of it in less than 3 minutes if you've never dealt with that person's computer before.
What I was thinking would be the simplest thing would be if I could run apache, and have a very simple web script that simply allows file uploads. Something that would serve a web page that has a "choose file" button which brings up the file dialog, pretty standard I guess. I wouldn't say no to a few more functions on top of that.
Given that, does anyone know of a simple apache modules, or a web server script (language doesn't matter) that would allow for this?

When I connect to my.website.com, it should hit port 80, right? It doesn't; rather, it hits port 8000. I don't have any rewrites/redirections (I checked wherever possible) and checked apache2.conf (httpd.conf is empty).

Do I want to just have GoDaddy forward traffic to my dyndns account? Or do I manually change the nameservers? To what? Also, this seems to work for http(s) traffic only. What happens if I want to use ssh/ftp/smtp? And do I need to configure anything on my end aside from installing/configuring the appropriate server binaries? Jan 30, 2011I'm trying to set up very simple UDP port forwarding, but can't seem to have good results. I read trough netcat and iptables manuals, but can't seem to figure things out. my setup is the following:
I have machine1, listening on UDP port 49000. I have machine_fw, which accepts connections on 59000, and forwards all this to machine1:49000 (and returning traffic too) I have machine2, which will connect to machine_fw:59000, and this way communicate at the end with machine1:49000, as machine_fw is taking care of forwarding is there an easy way to achieve this?
