Im having a frustrating issue with my two machine cluster I setup using Conga. Everything was working great except now when lucci starts mysql the port (3306) is never opened to outside machines. I can do a "ps -ef | grep mysql" and see it running as well as login to mysql on the node it is running on - but an nmap of the machine does not show the 3306 port and I cannot login to mysql remotely and yes I turned off all iptables(iptables,ip6tables) and SElinux is disabled. What am I missing here? If I start mysql on my own (and it is using the same my.cnf as lucci is) it does show the port open and works perfect,t for some reason when lucci starts it, no dice
I'm trying to change the default mysql port with no success. I looked at my.cnf file and there's no reference to port. I also looked at the iptables and mysql is running on 3306 (default).I've changed the iptable file but mysql fails to restart. If I add port = [my port number] to the my.cnf file, mysql fails to start.
Everything default.Everything works nicely with one exception. I can't connect to MySQL from the network.nmapping localhost tells me 3306 is open but nmap from the outside shows only ports 22 and 111 open. To my knowledge I have no firewall, iptables -L gives an empty set.I have several similar installations on the same network without any problems of this nature.
How do I get mysql 3306 port to be seen on my network?
Here is my setup: ---Desttop - WIndows Vista Ultimate (192.168.0.101) --------VBox ------------Guest - Ubuntu 9.10 (Joomla CMS Development) (192.168.56.106) ---Server - Ubuntu 9.10 (192.168.0.100) --------VBox ------------Guest - Ubuntu 9.10 (Joomla Production) (192.168.56.104) ------------Guest - Ubuntu 9.10 (MySql Database) (192.168.56.105)
I can ping all OS from any OS, I can connect to a shares, I can connect to the web server. I can do a netscan and display the open ports and the services for those ports except for MySql. How do get MySql to showup, so I can connect to it from my Joomla CMS? I came from openSuse and I like how they have modules to do this automatically. What do I use with Ubuntu to get the same results?
I've been working and researching this for about a week now and I still haven't had any luck. Basically, I have been trying to open port 3306 to allow connections to my MySql server.
i've added the rule into iptables, saved and restarted that i've added the rule into my router. and I have removed "skip-networking" from the my.cnf file and added the blind address in, I'm trying to get this all to work on my LAN, but it doesn't seem to work, I've also restarted the entire server and then port scanned it from outside and inside the networking and it still tells me that 3306 is closed.
I did however i had some luck when I entered the Ip of the machine that would be sending data to the server but then PROFTPD stopped working and the port was open :/ im not really sure what ip should be in there but another thread from another forum said to enter the ip of the machine that mysql is installed on. so currently its 192.168.0.2 which is the static internal address of the server.
every machine on the network has a static ip and all the rules have been added to each firewall, i.e. server and router firewalls.
ill pop my "my.cnf" under this to see if anyone can find a mistake,
Code: # This will be passed to all mysql clients # It has been reported that passwords should be enclosed with ticks/quotes # escpecially if they contain "#" chars... # Remember to edit /etc/mysql/debian.cnf when changing the socket location.
I'm new to linux, and setting up the mysql database server.
Here are my situation:
OS: CentOS 6 mysql version: 5.5
I tried to use MySQL Administrator to connect to my database on the host 192.168.1.120 and my computer is under the same network with ip: 192.168.1.105
But it shows the error msg: Could not connect to MySQL instance at 192.168.1.120
Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.1.120'(61)(code 2003)
On the server side I've tried:
Code:
skip_networking is off and I've set the port for it.
When I check the process in OS:
Code:
When I try netstat:
Code:
I thought it's the problem of firewall, so I have check it also:
Now that I've set up an FTP server here at home I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to change from the default Port 21 to something else. Can I use any port I desire or are there only certain ports that support this protocol?
I'd love a hint or two on the following problem. I've set up iptables rules to forward all connections to port 3306 to a non-standard mysql port on a remote server. This works, except that I need to deal with the loopback interface in a special way and I'm stuck.
Code: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 3306 -j DNAT --to 128.XXX.XXX.XXX:3197 iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -d 128.XXX.XXX.XXX --dport 3197 -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE Since locally-generated packets will never hit the PREROUTING rule, you'll need to setup a near identical rule using OUTPUT to make it work. Here is what I've tried:
I want to change my ssh port from the default 22 to something else. I did the following: vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config; uncommented Port 22 and changed it to the desired port number. After that I run service sshd restart for the change to take an effect. Now, when I want to login into the new port I receive this message - Network error:Unable to route to host. When I change the port back to 22, I will be able to login again.
I have a CentOS server running at [a link which has been moderator deleted] (a text-based game I'm building) which is displaying the default welcome page. I'll quote some of the things that page says:
Quote: "Apache 2 Test Page powered by CentOS This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache HTTP server after it has been installed. If you can read this page it means that the Apache HTTP server installed at this site is working properly."
"If you are the website administrator: You may now add content to the directory /var/www/html/. Note that until you do so, people visiting your website will see this page and not your content. To prevent this page from ever being used, follow the instructions in the file /etc/httpd/conf.d/welcome.conf. You are free to use the images below on Apache and CentOS Linux powered HTTP servers.
How do I check port 3306 to see if it is being used? I am unable to get MySQL to run with a LAMPP 1.7.3a installedon Ubuntu 9.10. The Apache server and ProFTPD start fine.

I have MySQL 5.1.34 and PHP 5.1.6 installed on my system, how do I install php-mysql? Each time I try, it says

I just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -
[mysqld] datadir=/var/lib/mysql socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock user=mysql # Default to using old password format for compatibility with mysql 3.x # clients (those using the mysqlclient10 compatibility package).
Mysql starting problem after changing mysqladmin password.I tried all the solutions available on forums, but not solve the problem. At last I restored the mysql db backup, this make mysql service start, but till other databases not showing all tables.
I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.
I have the first part of this script working, but I need help on how to specify a different port other than the default 22 for one particular server in my hostlist. First, here's my working script:
[code]....
Now, the hostlist contains a few servers that all share the same password in this test so as not to complicate that portion of expect's password section. However, one of the servers within hostlist_test will need to have the ssh port defined as, for example, 5522 as I've defined the port forward in DD-WRT's NAT section and changed in the appropriate /etc/ssh/sshd_config for listening. Might anyone be able to help me include that part in my script?
tring to run an ftp server on default ports with port 10100-10199 as passive. Using vsftp. But the ports refuse to open what the heck am I doing wrong? see screen shot. oh using karmac, now.
This is my first post, I hope I'm the the right place. I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts
I have two Centos 5 servers one running Asterisk with PHP installed and another sever running as a MySql Database server, at the moment when I try run simple script to see if I can connect to the remote server I get the following error.Quote:Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
i am not able to port 8080 on my CentOS VPS server.I have followed all the instuctions as mentioned on iptables wiki page. Also I am able to telnet my ip address and port number, But can not access from browser.
I was using ubuntu 10.04 till yesterday.. and due to hdd crash i have changed my hdd.
while looking for my installation disc, my wall-mate gives me this Ubuntu Studio dvd and instead of downloading a new one, i have installed the studio. at the first sight ... i am being a fond of studio version .. its really cool.
now, i am quite habituated with default appearance of ubuntu, i found studio appearance is quite unusual (for me, menu layouts, panel everything).
I would like to know how do i change this default appearance like ubuntu default 10.04 appearance. I am attaching a screen-shoot of my friends desktop, he upgraded his ubuntu thru apptitude update.
I tried to install php from source file on centos server and i got the error as # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/packages/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql --prefix=/usr/local/packages/apache/php --enable-force-cgi-redirect --disable-cgi --with-zlib --with-gettext --with-gdbm

I have just installed CentOS 5. I have set mysql database to access from remote machines. But now the problem is it is not connecting from the local machine now.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code: the-matrix:~ # mysql start ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or Code: the-matrix:~ # rcmysql start Starting service MySQL warning: /var/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mysql/mysqld.pid': No such file or directory
