View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded tarballs of gpg2 (gnupg-2.0.16), compiled it, compiled dependencies etc. and have it installed on my Suse 10 box. Now I want to install it on another suse 10 box. Instead of doing the compiling/installing steps once again, is there a good way I can package gpg2, or tar it on my server, so it can be easily installed on the other server? Also, when I installed gpg, it was installed everywhere, /usr/local/lib, /usr/local/bin, my download dir etc. How do I pick the needed libraries and executable to make the package? maybe I Should specify a path for the gpg to be installed, then tar the whole directory. how to do the first part?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to get a knoppix poor mans install to boot using grub and opensuse 11.3. I have tried the same method on another box, same opensuse 11.3 and it boots fine. However, no matter what partition I put the knoppix files in on the problem box, it is the same error. I also have several opensuse kernels listed in the grub menu that were added when the kernel was updated, so the knoppix grub entry is off the screen. I have to down arrow to list the knoppix entry. I read that with this kind of error using ubunto as the host system, that running update-grub will force grub to look for bootable kernels and add it to the menu of boot choices. Does the same fix apply to opensuse 11.3? I have two versions of puppy linux working on this box as a poor mans install, so I am at a loss why it will not see the knoppix kernel. Can it be a problem of too many kernels listed in the menu.lst file? This box is a live update from opensuse 11.0.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI made an image of a server(A). It did not work because It did not see /dev/sda. So I used another cd from indentical sever(B), cd which had work. Then mounted the nfs copy the image over. Server(B) had slightly older version of sles. And its not using lvm. But point is it had appropriate driver in the image cd.
Now situation is, This new image copied ever thing over.(I can mount it using LIVE CD). But When I boot up server it wont see vg volume group. I believe scsi driver is missing.After booting from LIVE CD I chroot in root used yast to add initrd modules, qla2xxx, mptbase, mptscsih(other server(B) had those). Still when I reboot it, it get stuck saying

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to use mplayer, using the gmplayer executable, in order to see some HD videos in MTS file format from my digital camera, and though they play reasonably in mplayer it is impossible to control the video as the control window is blank and black, as is the video window until the video starts to play. See screenshot. I have an ATI 9200SE video card, sempron 2400+ cpu, 2GB ram, if that makes any difference. I have never had this problem in previous Ubuntu versions, only now in Lucid, fully updated. I have the packages mplayer, mplayer-gui and mplayer-skins installed. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing.
EDIT: OK, problem over. To get the best from my ATI card I was using 16 bit colour. Discussions last night on another forum questioned many things which made me look again at that, and a change of colour depth has solved that difficulty. I now need to make sure that the24 bit colour does not introduce other problems which are more difficult to live with, but my xorg.conf is customised and edited from the one I needed to get any display from karmic, so it is possible that I may be able to live with 24 bit colour now in Lucid.
I am using openSUSE 10.3 and the pc is DELL Optiplex 780. The network devices is not supported by openSUSE 10.3 but I may have found it's module. But I can't "MAKE INSTALL" it as my installation does not have MAKE command.
I have selected "Install All" during my installation. Linux version is 2.6.22.5-31-default.
What is the package name for the MAKE command? So that I can find it so that I can install it into my openSUSE 10.3?

We previously had the server booting from the LUNs on the filer, but after some tinkering around with the fibre channel BIOS, we have the situation where the LUNS seem to be mounted, the OS boots, starts to initialise everything but then stalls, saying:
We have tried loads of combinations of settings in the BIOS and fibre channel BIOS without any success or any idea what may have caused the error.

What I need to do is, I want to check if file exists, if file exists call other script (mail.pl) and then delete the file (assuming mail.pl script executed). If file not exists just exit out of the script. I'm not sure how I can see that other script execution completed or not before I delete the file even though I put sleep command. And also it seems like its not that good, even though it is working. I wanted to see if we can write in more efficient way.
Is anyone here using KDE4 and KPPP?
If so, how'd you get it to work?
I am using SLES10 and i checked with command crontab -l and when i compared it with the cron.d/daily/monthly/hourly , all they are different. is there any single command that list out all the cronjobs that exist under the system.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi tried to install java jdk, and vlc, but to my surprise everytime i wanted to install a single application, a massive 500MB update appeared along with the 2 applications i wanted to install, then i tried the command line to just install one program, and got rep. errors, and several .lock errors at the command line. after hours of googling i gave up , this distro was recommended because of great laptop support, but it's a hell of trying to install a single program, with fedora i just did su -c 'yum install vim' , or ubuntu sudo apt-get install vim or slackware: installpkg vim.tgz , but opensuse was so bloated whenever i wanted to install a program or two. it is a royal pain to install anything in opensuse how do you guys deal with dependency hell in opensuse?

I didn't have any luck finding the solution for not getting opengl working on a SLES11 server with a remote X-Win32 client. As a reference I've used the tool "glxgears" for testing.We have two servers. One (server A) with SLES10 and the other (server B) with SLES11. We use X-Win32 (ver. 9.x) as an X-server on a Microsoft Windows client machine. Both servers are connected to with ssh with X11 forwarding enabled (Xclock works fine on both).Starting glxgears from server A works fine; Three nice gears are displayed.

OpenSUSE is starting to drive me a bit nuts. Actually what I'm trying to do is simply install VMWare server on a recent as possible SUSE and run 2 virtual machines, both the same SUSE. Of course 11.2 32 bit doesn't run VMWare server 2 so it's back to 11.1. The trouble is, 11.1 won't install properly on my PC.
The install process, booted and installed from the 11.1 network install iso image on CD, runs fine. The PC reboots from hard disk and stops at the grub prompt. I've tried the auto-repair option and reinstalled it from scratch a second time always with the same results. It seems the root partition is hosed, and that's where my understanding hits its limits. Can anyone help?
Incidentally should anyone be able to advise on the VMWare conundrum I'd also be interested. Maybe in another thread...
I have a box already has openSuse 11 32bits installed. I want to replace it with openSuse 11 64 bits. When I insert the openSuse 11 64 bits CD, I got error message "this is a 32 bit computer. Can not use 64 bit software". so How do I wipe out the old OS (32 bits), and install new OS (64 bits)?

Now my problem is - when i am trying install a rmp file through YAST, it ask root password by a dailog window. when i entered the root password it is giving error
