Red Hat / Fedora :: Fiber Channel 4 Terrabyte Mount?

Nov 10, 2010

I need to mount a drive over fiber channel. It's a 4 terabyte drive. We're using a paragon driver to access other volumes on the SAN in a similar way. Works fine. I mount the other volumes as mount -t ufsd /dev/sdd1 /mnt/VolumeName Works fine. This is also an ntfs drive. The error I get when I mount: mount -t ufsd /dev/sdg1 /mnt/VolumeName01 is NTFS-fs error (device sdg1): ntfs_fill_super(): Device has unsupported hardsect_size

CentOS 5 :: Can't Get Fiber Channel Disks Working

Feb 23, 2011

Setting up a new Centos 5.5 server with an LSI Logic 7402XP fiber channel HBA card connected by fiber to an enclosure with 28 SATA drives. This is just a bunch of disks.I want to mount them /disk1, /disk2,disk28. No RAID or LVM. After connecting the dsisks and rebooting there are 28 new devices /dev/sdc, /dev/sdd, ...

/dev/sdad. Going to /sys/class/scsi_disk will list all of them. Pick any one and go into device and you can cat the vendor and model and state is "Running." But try parted /dev/sdc and it just quitts. fdisk and mkfs produce errors. Attepting to read or write the device directly with dd fails. The mpt fusion kernel mods are present. I'm pretty sure this hardware is on the suuported list. And I've tried swapping out the card and cables in case of bad hardware. What am I missing to be able to partition and mkfs these disks?

Server :: Mount Fiber Attached Volume Read/write On Windows And Readonly?

Sep 2, 2010

I have a Windows 2003 server with fiber attached volumes (NTFS) that I would like to mount readonly on a linux system to back it up to tape. The fiber device will allow me to present the volume R/W to one host and R/O to another, however, the R/O system doesn't see any of the changes made by the R/W server. In other words, how can I make a readonly volume refresh, scan for changes, or update without un/re-mounting it?

Is the "mount -o --bind" option what I want? From the MAN is doesn't seem right... the option "sync" seems slightly more promising but I think I'm just grasping at straws here. The best I have come up with is a cron job to unmount then mount the volume periodically.

Ubuntu :: Unreadable WD MyBook Terrabyte Drive On 10.04 LTS?

May 8, 2010

I've been using a WD MyBook terrabyte USB drive for several months with no problem. Several days ago, I used the "safely remove drive" option but then unplugged the cable before the removal process had finished.

Now when I plug the drive in, the WD SmartWave section of the drive will mount. This is additional software for Windows computers that came with the drive and that I don't use. The main drive itself, though, will not mount. The drive doesn't show up on the left side of a navigation window, either.

I can see the drive using Disk Utility. It is located at /dev/sbd. (a) mount this drive or (b) recover its data so I can format it? I'd much prefer (a), of course. Regarding my level of tech savvy: I've been using Ubuntu for a couple years, but I chose Ubuntu because it allows me to use Linux while still remaining relatively ignorant about things, which is my comfort zone.

Ubuntu :: Dual Channel Failure & Single Channel Errors

Jun 25, 2011

PC seems to run fine in single channel mode but monitor reports no input in dual channel mode and memtest86+ lists from 1-3 errors per pass in single channel mode. Motherboard (Gigabyte P43T-ES3G) can't be set for the 1.65 volts required by the RAM (2x2 of OCZ3P1333LV4GK PC3 10666). The mobo voltage choices are 1.6 or 1.7 volts. I have tried both and increased the MCH voltage from 1.1 v to 1.2 v, but so far can't get it to run in dual channel mode at all and single channel mode seems to run fine but I still get errors in memtest86+. Also tried optimized Bios settings and loosened memory timings (from 7-7-7-16 to 8-8-8-27 and tRFC 60 to 70) and reset Command Rate from 0 to 2. CPU is Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz, PSU is rated at 400 watts, Video card is Gigabyte GT220.

Ubuntu Networking :: 'wlan0 Is On Channel -1 But The AP Uses Channel 6' With Airplay-ng?

Jun 29, 2011

I'm trying to crack my wep password just for kicks, but I keep running into the same error. When I try to use airplay-ng for the packet injection, it always gives me the error " wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6". I've tried setting wlan0 to channel 6 manually, but that doesn't help. I spent a while searching for a solution, but it seemed like each page had a different, usually highly complex solution, that still doesn't work. I have the most recent drivers for my wireless card, and it meets all the requirements. So, is there any solution to this that will actually work?

Server :: SCSI/Fiber Devices Naming?

May 12, 2010

Need help on how the scsi and multipathing works in Linux. From the docs i have read, i understand that by the use of multipathing we can assign multiple paths to a SAN partition. If there is a problem then one path will failover to other path. However, i am not clear on how linux recognizes the SAN partitions using the multipath drivers. For e.g. I have a HP Proliant server on which we have the following mounts:

Fedora Networking :: Missing Channel 12, 13 On Wifi?

May 14, 2010

I'm using wifi "usb card" from airlive with zd1211 driver in Fedora 12 OS. And I cannot access channel 12 and 13. Perhaps for US restrictions. But in EU are allowed. Any idea how to enable them?

iw phy told me the card has 14 channels width but last 3 are disabled.

I tried "iw reg set EU" but "iw reg get" still return me "Country:98"

Also set env. variable COUNTRY=SK and execute crda returns me: Failed to set regulatory domain: -22

in dmesg I can see the regulatory domain is first set to EU but when zd1211 is loaded it is set to US

Fedora Hardware :: Second Channel Causes The Boot To Hang?

Mar 10, 2011

I had to replace the motherboard, processor, memory on a machine because the old motherboard died. It worked fine under the old board but the new board (Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H) is causing Fedora 11 (and the Fedora 14 Live CD) to fail when initializing an Adaptec AHA-3940UW SCSI adapter.

I was able to display the boot messages and found that the first channel on the adapter is fine, but the second channel causes the boot to hang. The messages are:

Fedora :: Yum Repo To Smart PM Channel Convertor Script

Jan 28, 2009

Now the file upload feature is working, I have added the correctly indented php file as an attachment on post no: 3. The attached php script will create any missing smart channel files from the equivalent yum repo files. Any new smart channel files will be placed in a /new-smart-channels subdir of the yum repos directory.

Installation
Copy the attached php CLI script below to a new file, called create-smart-channels.php.
Change the permissions to something like:
# chown root:root create-smart-channels.php
# chmod 755 create-smart-channels.php

Then place the script in the directory that contains your yum repo files, usually /etc/yum.repos.d/

If you have set any open_basedir restrictions in /etc/php.ini, you will also need to add '/etc/smart/channels/:' to the search paths to allow create-smart-channels.php to read the contents of the /etc/smart/channels/ directory.

Warning:
Do not allow php access to the whole of the /etc directory. This could be a security issue. Whatever access restrictions are set with open_basedir (if any), you should override these in your httpd.conf file, to restrict apache's php module to only allow access to php files under your apache's document root. To do this, use something like this in your httpd.conf file:

<Directory />
Options None
AllowOverride None
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all

# these are the only directories which the apache PHP module can
# have access to. This setting overrides the settings in the
# global php.ini file, which applies to the CLI version of PHP .....

Networking :: Channel Bonding Or Aggregation On Latest Fedora Release 14?

Nov 11, 2010

On my previous release *cough* if inenslave was needed, bonding instructions didn't work through aggregation did.

cat /etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto bond0
iface bond0 inet static
address 192.168.1.149
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-nameservers 127.0.0.1
broadcast 192.128.1.255
post-up ifenslave bond0 eth0 eth1
pre-down ifenslave -d bond0 eth0 eth1

#auto wlan0
#iface wlan0 inet dhcp
#netmask 255.255.255.0
#wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

For some reason the unmentioned former disto, I could not get wireless networking under this configuration and a simple wlan0 interface, in case either cable were to sever it would retain a wireless. The bonding was done for speed, and I believe I can't get faster than mode=4.

General :: One Way Channel From Ubuntu To Vista?

Feb 26, 2011

When I'm on Vista (I dual boot by the way) I see that my hard drive is about 13Gb smaller than it used to be, but I have no access to Ubuntu's files. However, when I am on Ubuntu I have access to a drive (is it a drive?) I believe is called OS and when mounted it lets me access all of Vista's documents.

Also I do not understand the difference between /home, OS, and System Files (It might be named something else, but the icon looks like a hard drive I believe).

I realize all this is pretty vague, but do you know a way to block this connection? I feel like Harry Potter looking into Voldemort's mind (lol).

Debian :: Quassel - Add A Channel To An Existing List?

Sep 3, 2011

Recently I have been trying out quassel, while its a good IRC client security-wise it does fail in one crucial aspect which is the GUI which needs a lot of polish. A

Anyways, this is my setup. I am usually on two networks irc.freenode.org and irc.oftc.net and have number of channels which I want to autojoin and also later be able to add channels to the list.

Let's say the chat list name is DebianIRC (which is the default chat list). Does anybody know how can I do both/either of the things. So things to be done are :-

a. As far as I understand quassel ONLY lets one chat list be from the first network. I haven't been able to figure out how to add the second networks channels to the list while doing the initial setup.

b. How to later add channels from either or even a new networks (quassel calls IRC domain servers such as irc.freenode.org/irc.oftc.net as networks) to an existing list . For an example if the list is named as DebianIRC.

c. Also does somebody know where the logs are kept and any tricks/tips people do with the logs. By default I want logging on and on some channels more intensive logging than others.
