I am running OpenSuse 11.2 i586 on a HP Laptop
I am trying to update, but It keeps giving me these error messages, How can I fix these?
It also gives me an error message saying Installation Aborted By User when i haven't...

Today I installed suse 11.1 on my computer. After some time i was able to connect to the internet and the auto update program prompted for updates. after the updates were installed more updates were prompted. but now i get an error when i try to install them. edit: the error is "PackageKit Error internal-error: Installation aborted by user " if i try it manually i get an message "access denied to ......" how can i make my system update normal?

Having trouble with updating my system 11.3 when loged in as user or as root.When freshly installed update worked, for about twoo or tree weks i cant get it to work annymore.

Ive just installed Debian Lenny and then fglrx and kde, but if i try to login to kde, i get an error message because of invalid user. Do I have to enable my user first to login to kde or something?

Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.

Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)

Heare i come with Nagios Problem, When ever i stop nagios it say's
[root@x292 ~]# service nagios stop

When ever i restart nagios it say's

before 2 days i was trying to update my opensuse 11.1 with 1 kernel update. Due to slow connection it was automatically aorted. i tried twice for updation but it failed each time in between. When i restarted computer i have been getting following message on booting:-
Could not find /dev/disk/.....� part9
Want me to fall back to /dev/disk/.....- part9 ? (Y/n)
Y and n resulst in:
Waiting for device /dev/disk/.....� part9 to appear.......
Not found-exiting to /bin/sh

I'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

This is an example of the error I receive when trying to do an update via YaST, YaST2, or zypper. Basically, curl is broken. With out it functioning normally, I can't use openSUSE's update mechanism to fix my system. I dont really know what screwed up, but I build a tower pc and installed ubuntu on it and it was working fine. I thought I would try out arch linux, and so started to install it however, the power accidently got turned off half way through. After this the pc would not start - no lights, nothing. I held the start button in for a while with no power and then turned the power back on.It came on, so just to play safe, I re-installed ubuntu and it was working ok. I only get to use the pc occasionally as I dont have elecricity, I live in a truck and normally use a laptop. The other day I went to use the pc and nothing. It wont turn on, and is as dead as a do do. If I hold the start button in for 30 seconds the fan on the cpu starts to spin for about a second and then nothing, no lights or anything. Does anyone have any ideas pls? Have I screwed my motherboard up, by the installation being aborted?

When installing ubuntu.After i choose a drive where i want to install ubuntu. and choose its size. and start to install error comes.. "An error occured while writing the changes to the storae device. The resize operation has been abored". and running chkdsk dosent help and the drive is already defragmentated.

Ubuntu Studio (no idea what version, no idea how to find out) Update Manager has been saying 10.04 is ready for quite some time, but I cannot install the upgrade. The first time, more than a month ago, it had problems with Java and aborted. This time it couldn't find a repository in NZ so it threw up its (virtual) hands and gave up. Should I even try to upgrade? I keep installing maintenance and security updates (except Adobe Flash Player which Adobe cannot identify). It does most of what I want it to do. Does 10.04 (or 10.10) really matter? Assuming I try for US 10.04 LTS again, how do I get it past its problems?

The host I/O cache for at least one controller is disabled and the medium '/home/MyUserName/.VirtualBox/HardDisks/Ubuntu_LAMP.vdi' for this VM is located on an ext4 partition. There is a known Linux kernel bug which can lead to the corruption of the virtual disk image under these conditions. Either enable the host I/O cache permanently in the VM settings or put the disk image and the snapshot folder onto a different file system. The host I/O cache will now be enabled for this medium.

When i shutdown my SuSE 11.2 box with all current updates i have started to notice an error message.Something about failed to unmount, trying remount as read only or something like that.The trouble is its almost the very last message that appears and its not on the screen long enough to read properly.Somewhere is there a logfile that i can recover this error message from so that i can make some sort of an attempt to resolve the issue, post the whole message here in more detail?

(I'm probably going to have my forum account revoked due to excessive usage ) I'm setting a VPN connection on openSUSE 11.2. Using the networking icon on the tray I add a PPTP connection, set it up but I receive a message 'VPN connection failed'. I downloaded opensuse from opensuse.org(the DVD), and when I tried to install it gave me an error message. When I saw the file on the mirror, it was 4.7 G, but when I burned it, I did notice it was only 4.2 Gs.
I tried another download and again it was only 4.2 Gs, how or where can I obtain a working installable DVD of OpenSuse?

Hi I am running a fedora 10 desktop. when i send an email using evolution the message was not sent but returns a error message:"Error while performing operation.DATA command failedError: 550 Viagra SPAM - Hi in Subject" and the message did not have an attachment just plain words. what might have gone wrong for i have been using this for sometime without a problem. or what security measures should be in place to remove this viagra spamAm I infected by virus on this fedora, all my updates are up to date.

i got a dual-boot. both are debian. yesterday i upgraded one of them to debian-squeeze and to grub2.that installations boots just fine.but for the second i get the error message from the thread title:"render error detected"after the grub-menu.if i choose single user mode it boots and hangs waiting for the root file system.i found this results at google (which i am not allowed to post yet) but i don't understand them.

My son wants to install Wintendos so that he can play starcraft 2 on my new comp. But it doesn't seem to work. Every time I try to install it the install breaks down with an error message like, no boot disc/media can be found. (This is after the install has started, a couple of minutes in.) I suspect that Microsoft doesn't support usb 3.0 in their native distribution of win7, not sure though. And that my comp only has usb 3 ports. How do I check what kind of hardware my comp is packing, specially USB ports.

been a fan of openSUSE for years now and peridocially go back and forth between Suse and Windows. However, I'm still an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to this stuff. Well, I bought a netbook (Acer Aspire ONE) several months back and loved Win 7 (a first for me). However, like all Windows, they all go down the crapper. So I'm wanting to completely wipe out Windows and go all Suse on my netbook.So I downloaded KDE Live and "burned" it on my USB. BTW, the image writer that are in the directions only writes, .raw files not .iso. I had to use a third party software.I then went into my BIOS and put the USB drive first on the booting list, and then restarted. I have an old Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, and I installed Gnomad2. When I plug the usb cord in the Zen lights up.
Using the Gnomad2 rescan menu, I get the error message Usb_open: Permission denied.
