The virtual machine execution may run into an error condition as described below. We suggest that you take an appropriate action to avert the error. The host I/O cache for at least one controller is disabled and the medium '/home/MyUserName/.VirtualBox/HardDisks/Ubuntu_LAMP.vdi' for this VM is located on an ext4 partition. There is a known Linux kernel bug which can lead to the corruption of the virtual disk image under these conditions. Either enable the host I/O cache permanently in the VM settings or put the disk image and the snapshot folder onto a different file system. The host I/O cache will now be enabled for this medium.

Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)

I'm not sure if this is a Debian question or a VirtualBox question, so I'm posing here and will likely pose it on the VBox forums as well.When I install Debian into a new VirtualBox VM, it always installs Ext3 as the file system. I've tried the Advanced installer, but there does not seem to be a way to specify Ext4 as the file system.My questions are:- Is Ext3 the default for Debian 6?- Can I specify Ext4 as the file system at install? Should I even care? I know Ext4 is faster, but would that performance boost be meaningful for a laptop/cloud user?I know I can convert from an Ext3 to Ext4, but that's clearly a lot more work than just installing it during initial setup.VirtualBox does support Ext4, as I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 with Ext4 and it boots and operates fine.

I was trying to install VirtualBox through the YaST > Software Management but it is not working, someone in the forum told me that I have to download the OSE version and do it manual way. Finally I am able to start up VB but not able to use the network connection. Thus I am trying to do this:

When I type dmesg, it shows me a bunch of info which I don't know what should look for. When I type modprobe vboxnetflt, I get the error: FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-default/updates/vboxnetflt.ko): Invalid module format. what should I do in order to get my VB to be able to connect to the internet?

Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.

This is an example of the error I receive when trying to do an update via YaST, YaST2, or zypper. Basically, curl is broken. With out it functioning normally, I can't use openSUSE's update mechanism to fix my system. I managed to install Virtualbox on my opensuse 11.2 I configured it for a windows xp guest OS. When I start the guest OS, I get error mesages.

Unable to run VB, I get following error -

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing
'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'
as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary. I've dkms installed and did a reboot as well.

I can see this error occurring in multiple past versions of suse. The answer seems to involve recompiling the open source version of VBox, but this is surely overkill. Isn't there a way to either a)get the right kernel version of VBox for 11.3 or b)set whatever permissions are required.
In all the answer so far I can't see a solution I can understand for these combinations, sues 11.3 and VBox 3.2.8. The error is consistent, and if the install doesn't work properly (it took my a few attempts even to install it without error messages) then surely its an issue either for Oracle or Suse? It runs ok but hwen trying to fire up a newly created XP VM this error message occurs trying to switch from W764bit to suse11.3 64bit

i installed SLES 11 sp1 as guest on openSUSE 11.3 host, then change the adapter network from 'NAT' to 'Bridged Adapter', but when i hit start i got this error message: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine sles. Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-wlan0' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). One of the kernel modules was not successfully loaded. Make sure that no kernel modules from an older version of VirtualBox exist. When i shutdown my SuSE 11.2 box with all current updates i have started to notice an error message.Something about failed to unmount, trying remount as read only or something like that.The trouble is its almost the very last message that appears and its not on the screen long enough to read properly.Somewhere is there a logfile that i can recover this error message from so that i can make some sort of an attempt to resolve the issue, post the whole message here in more detail?

I downloaded opensuse from opensuse.org(the DVD), and when I tried to install it gave me an error message. When I saw the file on the mirror, it was 4.7 G, but when I burned it, I did notice it was only 4.2 Gs.

My son wants to install Wintendos so that he can play starcraft 2 on my new comp. But it doesn't seem to work. Every time I try to install it the install breaks down with an error message like, no boot disc/media can be found. (This is after the install has started, a couple of minutes in.) I suspect that Microsoft doesn't support usb 3.0 in their native distribution of win7, not sure though. And that my comp only has usb 3 ports. How do I check what kind of hardware my comp is packing, specially USB ports.

been a fan of openSUSE for years now and peridocially go back and forth between Suse and Windows. However, I'm still an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to this stuff. Well, I bought a netbook (Acer Aspire ONE) several months back and loved Win 7 (a first for me). However, like all Windows, they all go down the crapper. So I'm wanting to completely wipe out Windows and go all Suse on my netbook.So I downloaded KDE Live and "burned" it on my USB. BTW, the image writer that are in the directions only writes, .raw files not .iso. I had to use a third party software.I then went into my BIOS and put the USB drive first on the booting list, and then restarted. I have an old Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, and I installed Gnomad2. When I plug the usb cord in the Zen lights up.

I am using 11.3 on one machine and 11.2 on the other (a netbook). 11.4 won't install on either and 11.3 on the netbook fails to install as well.
I am using the same setup as I have always used when both systems ran 11.2 (details below) but now I can only mount a drive in one direction. In the other direction the mount command gets stuck with no error message until it eventually times out. I can ping and ssh the machines from each other without difficulty.
Even in the direction in which the mount apparently works (11.2 mounting a drive on the 11.3 machine) when I try to copy files across nothing actually happens.
exportfs -a was run successfully on the exporting machine, and nfsserver is running on both machines as does nfs client.
The exporting machine is 192.168.1.102 (eeelinux) and the other machine is 192.168.1.101 (nina).
Details:
The /etc/exports file on the exporting machine (192.168.1.102) looks like this:

I have local and remote networks that have various printers. I can add any printer (local or remote) to any PC, except for one PC that's refusing to allow remote connection (it used to, but doesn't now!). The problem PC has two printers connected and work OK as a local printer, but both display same problem when attempting to connect from any remote PC via YaST. Using 'Connection Wizard> CUPS Server' connection method requires IP address of remote PC and printer name. But if I correctly select either of the two printers I get an error message:
"PING 192.168.1.149 (192.168.1.149) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.1.149: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.12 ms
Both printers are set to 'Accept Print Jobs' and 'Share Printers> Allow remote access' permits all networks to connect. why this PC is requiring the root password?
