Nov 10, 2010Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)

May 1, 2011Since upgrading to 11.04 yesterday, nauilus has been acting strangely. It takes about 30 seconds for a right click on the desktop to respond, whereas before it would've taken 1 or 2. Also, when trying to open a directory, say, the Home direcotry accessible from the launcher,it takes about a minute to open, which is odd,because all of my other applications (Chrome, Banshee etc) ares all running smoothly. And when the direcotry windowe does open, within 10 sconds it will turn grey and prompt me to force quit. When i try to open nautilus from a terminal, it comes back with the message

Mar 29, 2011I recently updated my iPod touch to the 4.2.1 firmware. So I get the usual
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) Error. Yes I've tried the old "sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
but that was to no avail. way to fix this? Now click 'back'.

Jul 5, 2011when I connect my iphone (3GS, 4.3.3) to Fedora 15 it gives me this error: Unable to mount iphone
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).

Oct 4, 2009It's been awhile since I posted anything which is a good sign my install has been working well and I have been able to handle most everything. However, I'm not able to handle this issue. I recently installed F11 and everything went well. But, when trying to see my other computers on the local network, I cannot. I receive this error message: Unable to mount location Failed to receive shared list from server. I understand the message as it is obvious, but do not know how to fix it.

So I said Yes. But then it wanted root access, which I declined to provide and canceled the thing, whatever it is. Now, of course, my updater is displaying the yellow triangle with the ! in the center. This is the creepiest thing I have encountered since starting to use openSUSE several years ago. Did this result from some kind of screwup by the folks of openSUSE?
OpenSUSE Install :: ISCSI Boot Fails With Error 15 - Already Exists
Mar 25, 2011I'm using OpenSUSE 11.4, trying to install to an iSCSI partition. I'm using gPXE to boot to my iSCSI volume. This works fine, and pulls up grub with my boot options. I think boot the openSUSE 11.4 entry, which kicks off the boot process. I see the steps for running DHCP on the interface, but when it gets to iscsiadm, there's an error logging in to the iSCSI target portal along the lines of "15 - already exists. After that things start to fall apart - I/O errors, mainly, and the system completely fails to boot. What's going on and what this already exists message means?

Similarly, if I click on System>Add/Remove Software>Package Collections, I get No groups could be found. A cache refresh should fix this. I don't see how to do a cache refresh. I tried rpm --rebuilddb, which didn't do any good and um clean all which also did no good. I did manage to do the updates with yum updates But I don't want to have to use yum at the command line all the time to do updates.

Ubuntu :: Receive A Message From Login Keyring Asking For A Password ?
May 2, 2011I tried to run Ubuntu One on my Lucid Lynx, however, when I want to start the Ubuntu One Client, I just receive a message from Login Keyring asking for a password:
The password you use to log in to your computer no longer matches that of your login keyring.
I haven't change my login password for a long time. It is still the same and it works.
However, when I put my current password below the keyring's message it says it is incorrect. When I try to change the password in in Accessories > Passwords and Encryption Keys it writes that the old password (my current one) is not correct.
What happens? Which password should I type there? I do not remember I set somewhere any other password than my current login one.

It's supossed to flash or blink when I receive a message (I've already configured Pidgin and I've also tried with emesene) but it just doesn't flash. I think it's something related to gnome or ubuntu config so it won't flash under any circumstance but I am not sure.

Jul 3, 2009I'm only partially new to Linux. I'm running Fedora 11. I've just set up two machines, I thought to be identical. Evidently I missed something. I had some problems getting the network started on the second machine, and I must have forgotten a name change somewhere. Anyway, after doing lot's of comparisons between the boxes, editing and renaming and re-linking the ifcfg-GigaStorey file, they are both functioning. The problem is that whenever I start or restart the network on box 2, it reports the following error:
Bringing up interface GigaStorey: RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Error adding address 192.168.1.6 for eth0.
[ OK ]
The file ifcfg-GigaStorey is linked in the following directories
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices
code....
Like I said, it's not super critical, just annoying. The networking comes up ok, but the error is puzzling. I figure if I learn what this problem is I'll be one step closer to my Linux beanee.

The last years I ran very well with gentoo, but the time for system maintenance got to big the last few times I updated the system, so I decided to change and here am I.
