View 4 RepliesI downloaded the latest ClamAV (clamav-0.96-27.1.x86_64.rpm) from the opensuse ftp site and when i double-click on the RPM and choose 'install' it says this:[PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.h1Oz1u] Repository already exists.I looked in the software manager in opensuse to see if it has the latest ClamAV package but it doesn't have the latest package or any package of ClamAV.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install the latest version of Clamav (0.95.3), but I'm getting the following error messages in Synaptic after adding the recommended repository to my sources:

Im currently trying to update my Suse 11.1 copy of Linux.
I got some messages that Clamav was not up to date.
I tried to use YUM which I installed on the machine but that did nothing.
It seems that I can only update Clamav by using Klamav.
Whats happening is that the system is telling me that its going to recompile Clamav, starts doing various tasks but doesnt really work.
When I use YUM on my CentOS 5.3 server it simply updates Clamav to the current version and then I use Freshclam to update the virus definitionsdone.
My questions is this; is there anyway to get the latest version of Clamav without going through the that Klamav thing. Klamav seems O.K. for updating the virus definitions but thats all.
Whats wrong with all the Linux software people?
Cant they just get their act together and make their software work. Im also trying to set up a mail server on my Suse 11.1 box but between figuring out how to install Postfix, Dovecot, Cirus-IMAP Im not getting anywhere.
As much as I hate to say this, these things only seem to be rocket science on Linux. I have much less problems installing software on Windoz.
Linux software people need to come up with workable install programs for their software products so more people who arent software experts can make Linux really workable.
I am running Ubuntu 9.04 at work and have a sudden need to install a newer version of python-support (> 0.9.0) than is currently available in the repo (0.8.7) for my Ubuntu version. Upgrading to 9.10 is not an option as we are planning to jump to 10.04 LTS in the next few months and I am unable (unwilling) to mess with a complete upgrade prior. Is it possible for me to upgrade to the newest version of python-support - or is this package OS version specific? Assuming it's possible, how might I go about the process of upgrading?

You may wish to ``make deinstall'' and install this port again
by ``make reinstall'' to upgrade it properly.

The following information may resolve the situation:

I'm having some trouble installing SLES using "live installer" during the install process I get an error installing grub:
Error 15: File not found.
I also tried dd to the drive (as I have done many times with opensuse) but I could not boot to the drive. I wanted to use SLES so that I could purchase support in the future if needed. The supportability report showed that all the packages were supported.
I have modified /etc/sudoers using visudo command to give the user "runner" to give all access without password.capture of sudoers file
# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
runner ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
But still the "runner" is getting permission denied error when trying to open files with "(-rw-------)" permission in/shutdown
We found a link to binutils-32bit-2.18.90.20080912-1.5.ppc64.rpm in software.opensuse.org: Search Results but the page states that the object is not found. We had the same problem with these packages: compat-32bit-2008.8.13-1.10.ppc64.rpm and linux32-1.0-414.13.ppc.rpm.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed SLES 11 SP1 as a VM on my Hyper-V/Win2008R2, HP DL380G6 QuadCore, total 18GB RAM, 4GB assigned to the VM. The installation does not include a gui and everything works as expected. The hv-modules are visible but the systems freezes while I
- backup the system with Symantec BackupExec 2010/RALUS
- run an rsync from my physical P DL360G5
I have to powercyle the VM to reestablish a connection i.e. to CUPS by browser or to open a new session by ssh. Why SLES crashes on hyper-V or what I can do here?
I am looking a creating a custom live CD so that I can use the apps that I need an take it around with me. However I can extract everything but I don't know how to put it back together.

I installed SLES 10.2 with SAMBA 3.5.5.43 to retire our old Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and save some money. All was fine until last week when our chief asked to me to set password expiration for all clients. This morning, all users cannot logon because, when they logon, windows asks to change password and then it gives error error "Access Denied".

This started happening sometime yesterday afternoon on a server that's been trouble free for years.
My Ubuntu update is scheduled to run every month on the 5th, so this was roughly 10 days after that. So it seems to me it's not update related. The only thing I've done on the server lately is update a spamassassin rule which required an amavis restart. That was done earlier in the week.
I've already reviewed issues at [url] and all the conditions are correct for the more recent How to.
I can also confirm that, in fact, /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl does not exist.
I have two servers complaining about ClamAV being outdated:
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!
WARNING: Local version: 0.96.1 Recommended version: 0.96.3
Doing an aptitude update says I don't have to upgrade anything. Why is this? Must ClamAV be updated manually?
MySQL used to have a command named 'perror' to show the meaning of error codes. It seems that this command no longer exists on 11.2 and 11.3. Did it change the name?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using OpenSUSE 11.4, trying to install to an iSCSI partition. I'm using gPXE to boot to my iSCSI volume. This works fine, and pulls up grub with my boot options. I think boot the openSUSE 11.4 entry, which kicks off the boot process. I see the steps for running DHCP on the interface, but when it gets to iscsiadm, there's an error logging in to the iSCSI target portal along the lines of "15 - already exists. After that things start to fall apart - I/O errors, mainly, and the system completely fails to boot. What's going on and what this already exists message means?
