Apr 26, 2010I felt the urge to build my own "Incredible PBX" system, and in the process downloaded pbxinaflash-i386-5.4.iso which is based on CentOS 5.4. The PC that I'm using is an old desktop, and the onboard ethernet adapter is not working, so I installed Trendnet PCI Adapter (te100-pciwn h/w : 2.2 R), which used to work greatly under Windows XP. Since my on-board ethernet adapater doesn't work, I disabled "eth0" device, and I modified eth1 device to load during boot. But, for whatever reasons, eth1 fails to get the IP address. I thought the driver that is part of CentOS 5.4 may not be working, so I thought of building the driver from the files provided in the CD (that came with TrendNet adapter box).. and unfortunately my attempts to build the driver have also failed.
Following files are attached in the zip file
- basedata.R3721 (info collected by ./getinfo.sh all )
- Directory 2.2.X has "te100.c, makefile, kern_compat.h copying.txt" (These files came with the Trendnet CD)
- errors (makefile errors when tried to build te100 driver)
From what I understand, TrendNet TE100-PCIWN is based on "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139" chipset. How to get my ethernet adapater (eth1) connected to internet.

Feb 14, 2011Above adapter can be installed on v10.2 and 11.3 using ndiswrapper:-
1. Copy the 3 driver files from Windows:- like netwpn111.inf, WPN111.sys & ar5523.bin.
(Be carfeul about the exact names, because they have changed over time).
2. sudo ndiswrapper -i netwpn111.inf
3. sudo ndiswrapper -m
4. sudo modprobe ndiswrapper (the adapter should light up at this point and networks will be detected shortly after - see network manager). (Be careful of paths here - e.g. I had to use /sbin/modprobe - so 'whereis' may be necessary to find these commands).
2nd When I reboot, I need to run the modprobe command again. How do I make the module load automatically on boot? Also (and this is minor), can I bypass the KWallet, keyring thing? it seems silly to enter a password for the keyring and then click another password dialog, when I can just as easily enter the password for the network itself.

Sep 8, 2010I know that most people are using F12 and F13 but I just installed F10 on one of my machines. The Kernel is 2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i686 and the GUI is Gnome 2.24.1.I have a Trendnet wireless card already installed in the machine from when it ran XP which is in the tew-421pc/tew-423pi family. Is there a device manager/hardware installer that I can use to set up the wireless card or does anyone know of a driver install program for this card?

Feb 20, 2010I have been trying to get my Trendnet TEW-649UB wireless card to work on Karmic. I have ndiswrapper "installed", but it doesn't seem to be working. I have reinstalled ndiswrapper-utils 1.9 and ndiswrapper-common from synaptic, but not ndisgtk (the GUI for ndiswrapper). When I try to see if any drivers are installed using terminal (ndiswrapper -i) the terminal freezes on me.
Previously I tried using the help doc for installing Trendnet wireless drivers, but I was met with no success. After my first try using the help doc it seemed that ndiswrapper was working correctly and the driver was installed, but when I tried to connect to my network my wireless was listed as "device not managed". If this helps at all the current state of my /etc/network/interfaces is: auto lo iface lo inet loopback
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
When I run iwconfig I get:
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
but when I try to install the driver using ndiswrapper -i I get the message: driver net8192su is already installed Right now my computer is not even reading that the wireless card is avaliable. When I left click on the network icon I can only see that I am on a wired network {ifupdown (wlan0)}. My computer is dual booted with Vista and the card works there, but for some reason I am having trouble with Ubuntu.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: 11.2 Recognizing My Broadcom Adapter ?
Dec 14, 2009I'm having some issues with openSUSE 11.2 recognizing my Broadcom adapter. Following the instructions in the two stickied topics, I can find the adapter both under YaST's Hardware Summary and using the console command /sbin/lspci. I cannot, however, find it with /sbin/lspci -n, and the boot log (viewed with dmesg | less) makes no mention of it either.
Do I need to turn it on or something? This is a dual boot machine, and it works fine under Windows, so I don't think there's a hardware failure at play here.
Ubuntu :: Can't Get Drivers For Wireless Adapter To Install
Feb 24, 2010I'm booting from disc on a compaq presario F700. Somehow, I messed everything up and now it's not reading that I have an OS. Which was previously vista. Now, when I boot from disc and try to install no partitions come up. I did open the blasted thing to clean it not too long but as far as I know, nothing dislodged. It is a laptop, btw. So, my kneejerk reaction is that the hard-drive got damaged or knocked loose. I also tried using kill-drive to erase it so I could start fresh, also no Hard drive detected. So, I'm going to try that. In the meantime I have another issue. When booting from disc I can't seem to get the drivers for my wireless adapter to install. I have them. Madwifi for AR5001X but I don't know where to put them via terminal.

May 3, 2010I have been struggled with wireless connection. Here is the things... My room doesn't have moduler jack. So basically my landlord is sharing with his wifi. Also, my desktop is using Netgear wireless adapter for internet. My laptop and desktop are windows 7 which can conncet with internet very well. But my Linux Os in my desktop couldn't conncet. Recently I installed ubuntu because my co-worker told me ubuntu can be applied to connect with internet through wireless.
However, how can my ubuntu os get wireless connection without ethernet cable. Actually, my harddisk drive is multiple boot containing windows 7, Ubuntu, and Centos. Windows 7 can connect internet smoothly. But you know, Ubuntu and Centos can't do nothing. So I am stacking this situation not to connect internet through Linux OS right now.
My Netgear USB adapter is WG111US.
