It appears I have gotten a bug when I try to update 11.0 or download even a update foe firefox. When I tried to see if there were any updates it said it could not do it and put up a screen stating the following. File'/repodata/repomd.xml/' not found on medium [URL]. Is there a way to fix this problem? I am a 66year old quy who is trying to learn the ins and outs of Lenox so please keep it simple.

Is this as simple as using wget to mirror certain directories on the public repository?
Since applying a number of updates using the online update tool in Yast, the online update tool can no longer contact the software repositories which were configured in Yast.If i browse to the URL which is configured within the software repo config tool, I can see the updates & folders fine in Firefox.Zypper seems to do the same thing & just sits there if I do zypper update.I see a number of other people in this forum have had the same problems, any ideas as I couldn?t find a resolution?
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing 11.2 64 bit on Amd 3200 64I installed 4 Days ago After running a online update yesterday with Yast which was completely finished, starting the machine today, I wanted to add a program Yast reports "UI Syntacs Error Couldn't load plugin qt_pkg" Using 11.0 on P2800 I run an online update 3 days ago. Today I started, the updater reported updates. When I accepted I got the error message "DBus error :Unable to get transaction id from packagekit." Disabling the updater, starting Yast, I got "error initializing the repositorys.Parse error." and "UI Syntacs Error Couldn't load plugin qt_pkg" On both machines I gave the command rpm --rebuilddb On the 11.2 Yast started without error.
I wanted to instal a program when the download was completed I got again the message "UI Syntacs Error Couldn't load plugin qt_pkg"On the 11.0 Yast installed a small Program without error.When I opened Yast online update, I got the "parse error again. When I say o.k. there, Updates are shown and installed. However using the updater kit it reports still "DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit". How can I fix the DBUS error of the 11.0 (On an 9.0 I had to deinstall Rug and thereafter run only Yast) I can deal with the Parser error myself, checking all Repositories should do it)
I'm running Suse 11.1 KDE 3.5. My wireless is working absolutely slow. Pages aren't loading fast and I timeout when trying to do online updates. Here's some information:

In OpenSuSE 11.2 YaST -> Online Update Configuration I can configure how often the system should check for updates (i.e. daily, weekly). Does this operate independently from the Online Update Applet(kupdateapplet)? The reason I ask is that the Applet doesn't always seem to work correctly. However, if the system will check for online updates automatically regardless of the Applet, perhaps this isn't an issue. If I can avoid messing with the Applet, that would be great.

But since a few version it doesn't work after installation and I don't know why. I think maybe the errors could happen because I have no

I've installed opensuse 11.3 on my computer (well actually Ive done it twice, once with full DVD image and once with network install). Everything was OK until Ive made update (yast/software/online update <-- BTW kupdate applet isn't working, just update bar appear and stuck on 0%). i haven't installed any additional packages, only the defaults (KDE desktop). after update only fail safe option is working (booting normally and looks like normal desktop, no visual differences between normal and fail safe booting, if there should been any). When I've tried to find solution for this problem, very ofter answers were -> graphic drivers problem (im using ati hd 4670 AGP <-- yea, AGP . well when i start normal boot green screen with lizard logo appear, then screen goes black for a second or two, then the green screen come again, and after another few second screen goes black permanently with working hdd for 30-40 second (hdd led blinking) BTW i have windows7 pro (booting fine) on this machine too, it was installed as first system on hd0,0. opensuse was installed on stand alone PATA disk (secondary EIDE master, ODD on slave). how to gather info which u all need to get this problem more detailed. I appear to be unable to select individual updates for installation anymore from the Yast Online update screen. I use this to install updates manually on 11.1. But everytime I think I've chosen an update to install, all the updates listed get installed, and not just the one I've chosen. For example I just chose a "Fuse security update" to install and clicked the "Install" button. Nothing further happens until I click "Apply". Then all patches listed under the "All available" listing get applied. How do I just apply the patches that I want to ?

I have been through a number of attempted fixes via the thread 434687-software-repository-corruption but have not managed to resolve the issue. There is no one at the location that could repeat the "update" to hopefully fix the issue that way. I have a copy of the 11.2 DVD iso file on the remote computer. Is there some way that I can get the repository DB rebuilt or reinstalled so that I can then install other software and do Online Updates? Whatever I try has to be doable with the system running so that I can OpenVPN connect and issue commands remotely.

i changed the res to 800x600 and attempted to load eve, the splash window loads up and then nothing, the splash window dissapears and i am left with the background of the WINE UI (in which case i cannot close the wine window either) i then attempted to find out my graphics card and i cannot find it using

Once I have tipped in the router access code it sometimes logs on immediately, but most of the time it keeps searching for a long time before logging on if at all.Once I have a connection established it is very unstabile. After a few minutes it logs off and starts searching for the network again, asking for the access code every 2 or 3 minutes. Sometimes it finds the network again and sometimes not.As you can probably understand, this significantly reduces the euphoric enthusiasm over having sacked mr. Bill Gates from my life. I should mention at this point that I am a regular pc user with little indepth knowledge and experience so any advice has to be like teaching a bonobo monkey rocket science.

1) I thought linux (or Ubuntu) would tell me somehow when there are new updates I need to install, like Windows does. But I never see any indication. I used this software name "Ubuntu Tweak" to check for update and found 32 new packages. Why wasn't I told about these? Did I accidentally turn something off and I need to turn it back on? Or do I have to configure something special?
2) How can I find out what features or bug fixes these updates provide. For example, one of the files was named "linux-image-2.6.32-22-generic". I'm guessing this is part of the core system. I would really like to know what changed in this and the other 31 updates.

Whenever I try to check for updates, it will say updating cache, but then it will say Failed to download repository information Check your internet connection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter a lot of work I succeeded in making my Icon 225 Mobile Broadband working under Linux, so I immediately took advantage of this by updating my system.But unfortunately not everything went well. I have to say something:in Linux when you solved a problem another one pops up. And this is what happened to me. It seems that in the Online update system there is a error: or the address is wrong or something is not working as it should be. Anyway I got over it and the system started to download the updates and so on. At the end the system asked me to reboot and I did it. Unfortunately a cold shower was waiting me : the KDE interface did not work anymore, the only thing I could see was something like a fog all around the video. The mouse cursor was a dark square. I was still able to hear the welcome sound so I deduced that only the graphic interface was corrupted. I rebooted again and when the system show me the booting choices:
1) Desktop opensuse 11.3-2.6.34.7-0.3
2) Failsafe opensuse 11.3-2.6.34.7-0.3
3) windows 1
4) windows 2
5) Floppy
I chose this time the second one (I think it is like a safe mode)and fortunately it worked but the system looked like having lost brightness (I think this choice change the card driver). Now I do not know why the KDE inrface got corrupted, because I download everything from the opesuse website, so no strange repository has been installed. I checked in the little manual supplied with the DVD and I found the following suggestion: If the KDE interface got corrupted please try to remove the cache files of the KDE desktop using the following command rm -rf /tmp/kde-user /tmp/ksocket-user
I'm running Opensuse 3 on an EEE PC, and so far had no problems. I brought it to another house today and now Firefox seems to be unable to connect to the network.. Network is working however, as Skype is running fine. Online update won't work either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my work computer I installed Opensuse11.2 in VirtualBox. However online update or installs which are downloaded through YAST2 are not working. I get the message "Failed to download media ....." and that's it. I configured the proxy and when using the test proxy button it tells me that the proxy works OK. If I copy the link from yast into Firefox I get to the site of the repositories without problems only Yast cannot connect. Neither from the GUI nor from the console. I had no problems with Opensuse11.0 and previous versions. WHat is the problem?

Otherwise appears to boot, as I can see the drive from my laptop via samba. I cannot get a display in either normal boot nor in failsafe. I am also not able to get a terminal screen.Grub boot includes VGA=0x31aAre there any other boot options I can enter to at least get to a terminal?

I downloaded and installed the LINUX version of the veetle player from Veetle using the provided shell script. The installation went smoothly but when I tried to launch it afterwards, I got the image here: Veetle meaning that the installation was probably not successful. Has anyone out there successfully installed the player?
