I don't know how on OpenSuse 11.2, but I found out that on my 11.1 kernel 2.6.27.42-0.1 command "ip" and everything else belongs to it, can be executed by everyone.

Im trying to install OpenSUSE 11.3 on a Windows 7 64bit laptop (HP G61). After I select English as the language I want to install I get this error and ends the install. Note: Ive burned several ISOs, some at different speeds even, they always have the same error.

I have SuSE 11.2. There is a security patch for Mozilla NSS Library. However, I get told by YaST that the libfreebl3-3241.noarch conflicts with mozilla-nspr.i586. (There's also a patch for glibc but apparently, it is not "willing" to install this without installing the other patch first). Anyway, I did the following: zypper lp and then rpm -qi libfreebl3 and then zypper lr -d.

I see that the PHP5 version in the official repository (OSS) is outdated and dangerous to use. I can't find a newer version in the official update repo either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCurrently the Apparmor program has the notification logs saved to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg, however, when I try to save the notification after putting my email address in, I get an error saying "Configuration failed for the following operations: Unable to write config changes to /etc/apparmor/notify.cfg"looking inside the folder, I do not see any file named "notify.cfg" BUT I do see so files called reports.conf, logprof.conf, and reports.crontab. I am guessing that the program is asking to save the notification changes to a file that does not exist and in fact one of those three files are the proper ones to use. Well if that is the case then how would I go about fixing this error?

It's listening on the default nessus port 9390. I am trying to connect to the nessus server instance using Open-VAS Client. I have generated the client and server certificates, I have pointed the client at the User Certificate File, the User Key File and I have a CA cert. I have created a user account on the nessus server. The problem is that when I try and log in from the Open-VAS client it keeps saying it can't connect. Is there anywhere I can check to see if it's being caught in a firewall, or where I can see if the connection is even making it to the server..
The wifi is not working for me. The scan detects the wifi signal but fails to connect. The wifi I have requires WEP authentication, even if I give the right passphrase it fails to connect. The problem is happening in SUSE 11.2 installed in HP dv7-3065dx laptop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe libxml2 update specified by CVE-2010-4494 causes a notification that it will break Adobe AIR and TweetDeck on my machine.How can I blacklist this update so it won't keep showing up in the Updater applet?The applet says I should go into Yast and manually apply the update. When I do that and tell it not to apply the update, Yast exits and the Updater applet just tells me the update is still pending. I want to get rid of the update at least temporarily until Adobe fixes the dependency (assuming they ever do).
This is a major problem for me as I clearly don't intend to uninstall TweetDeck and AIR just for some security patch. Why didn't openSUSE test this patch for AIR compatibility?
I keep getting messages that I need to update fuse gnome-screensaver and gnutils security updates. However, everytime I try to update either by YAST Online Update or the toolbar icon, it fails to update. The message is that can't remove fuse, gnutls, etc.

1) I had to modify FW_CUSTOMRULES="" with FW_CUSTOMRULES="/etc/sysconfig/scripts/SuSEfirewall2-custom" in /etc/sysconfig/SuSefirewall2
2) I had to add my own rules in /etc/sysconfig/scripts/SuSEfirewall2-custom in the appropriate hook
3) I don't know if rules are good.. they seem to work because for example jinchess can't access his server with the DROP rule until i add the ACCEPT rule BUT in fact the download manager still access internet and amarok too when it searches for songs lyrics ! i have discovered it's because the others apps use port 80

problem 1 : I can ssh to the required space but after the terminal prompts me for password it stops ececuting the script.
problem 2: after performing the 'exec' command for the first time. its not executing anything after that line. is there any work around for this.
