OpenSUSE :: Switched To SUSE - Applications For Legal Work?
Mar 24, 2011As the title of this post indicates, I recently switched over to SuSE from Fedora 14. I find that the default software repositories in YaST lack a lot of the amusements and applications I use for my legal work.
What I'm really looking for are apps that work well with the US tax code or plugins for law citations in LibreOffice. I could totally rely on SuSE if I could find that stuff!
I'm also looking for a few awesome games that I can download from an official repository. Can anyone recommend apps that fulfill my needs, any cool non-rogue RPG games or any software repositories where I can find them? I've got an X86_64 machine, openSuSE 11.4 KDE installed and I've got 4GB of DDR3 RAM.

Jan 6, 2009Recently my computer was infected by several viruses and my brother cleaned it up and installed SuSe for me. He also put windows xp back on my system for our children. I am having a terrible time installing our Dell 924 printer. I have it installed for windows, but cannot get it to print for my Linux system. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone give me some direction?

Aug 19, 2010I know openSUSE (and SUSE Enterprise) work great with windows Active Directory.Now, I understand that Linux systems are far more stable and secure (if configured properly). What about features though? What does openSUSE/Linux have instead of AD for file/folder sharing across the network? Are there roaming profiles? If so, how do I use that?I love openSUSE because of yast (and a few other things). And It's my main LinuxOS on my tower. I am still in college getting my certs and a degree (in networking). I really want to understand why Linux (openSUSE/ SUSE enterprise) is a better networking solution as opposed to Windows Sever 2003/2008.Also, why SUSE over RHEL/CentOS? Yast is awesome, but are there other reasons?

Nov 16, 2010I have opened dolphin and some other application (avidemux, dolphin, firefox,etc). in the first window (dolphin) i have a file. i drag it to another window/application and if i release the left-button of mouse, the window/application of the drag destination become active (raise). is it any way to make it to come in front/top (active) once mouse is over window while still dragging, before releasing the mouse? there is "focus" stings (focus under mouse/raise with the delay) in "windows Behavior". the focus under mouse is working fine, but is not working while dragging. it would be very handy to see where i drop the file, especially if i only see a small partition of the destination window, which is behind other windows.

But on CentOs , users couldn't login using nis username.I have mounted home directory using nfs in fstab . I can switch to nis users homedirectory only when i am root. But nis users could'nt login on reboot.' ypcat passwd username ' is showing the output . No selinux is enabled in the client .Is there is any problem with Suse server to Centos Client in nis ??

But after the next boot I understood that some applications won't launch. Skype, last.fm player, VirtualBox - all the qt ones. I've reinstalled those apps, and reinstalled qt. It's listening on the default nessus port 9390. I am trying to connect to the nessus server instance using Open-VAS Client. I have generated the client and server certificates, I have pointed the client at the User Certificate File, the User Key File and I have a CA cert. I have created a user account on the nessus server. The problem is that when I try and log in from the Open-VAS client it keeps saying it can't connect. Is there anywhere I can check to see if it's being caught in a firewall, or where I can see if the connection is even making it to the server..

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04, I'm the only user, I disabled all login password requirements because they were annoying me and I'm cool with anybody using any of my applications as long as they aren't capable of changing my system in any way. Some of the applications I would like to be on the list include the terminal, the network connections preferences, the keyboard preferences.
