OpenSUSE Network :: Configure My Server For Routing Between Vlans ?

Jul 29, 2011

I'm trying configure my server for routing between vlans, but I'm having troubles with my server after that vlans are set. I can create vlans and routing is OK, but when I trying remove a vlan, restart the network script or restart the server, the CLI freeze and then I can't do anything. Even Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Z isn't work. I can use other terminal or do other SSH connection (if the network interface used by ssh isn't crashed), but if I try use a ifconfig per example, crash again. The unique solution is restart the server. Nothing about this is found in the log.

Mar 8, 2010

I am trying to configure virtual alias using regular expression.

For example :

Email send to user.1@example.com and user.2@example.com will deliver to user mailbox.

Email send to user2.1@example.com and user2.2@example.com will deliver to user2 mailbox.

And the numbers or alphabet in between user name and the domain will be vary , I can't just do a normal alias.

I been try to play around with main.cf and the virtual alias table but still not able to get work. So I am not sure is the main.cf didnt configure correctly or the regular expression is not working.

I can also able to browse cups web interface via http://cups:631, but when I am going to manage the printers (start - stop - delete etc), none of the buttons are working in firefox5 not even in IE also. Older version of firefox is giving error as "This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection." All other buttons are working properly.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Network Manager Stuck On 'setting Network Address' Then Continuously Prompts For Hex Or ASCII Key

May 28, 2011

When I attempt to connect to a wireless network, the network manager asks me for the network's password, then says 'setting network address' for 20 or so seconds, then asks me for some random Hex or ASCII key in the same type of window I put the password in (Secrets for Noel -- KDE Daemon). Since a key is already typed into the window, I press OK, which then causes the network manager to go back to 'setting network address', then the window pops up again and keeps repeating itself.

I'm running Opensuse 11.4 with KDE, and my driver is ath9k. I don't know much about linux so please don't tell me to 'recompile this' or 'change this setting' without explaining how to do it. Please help, I've been unable to connect to wireless in OpenSUSE for 2 weeks now.

Networking :: Routing To Internet Through One Network And To Local Ips In Another Network?

Mar 31, 2009

I have two networks. One of them is wired, the other is wireless. The wired has an internet connection and a few other computers connected to it. The wireless network has a few hosts connected to it too, but it has no internet connection. What I've been trying, fruitlessly, to do, is make all connections that are bound to the internet, or my wired network, be routed that way, and all the connections to the hosts of the wireless network go that way.

Here's the setup..

Wired:

192.168.1.0/24 Gateway = 192.168.1.1

Route internet through here

Wireless

192.168.2.0/24 Gateway = 192.168.2.1

If my computer sends a packet to the internet, it should be routed through 192.168.1.1 If I send a packet to one of the local hosts of the wireless network, it should be routed through 192.168.2.1. Here's the routing table I've set up(This is one of many configurations I've tried)

Code:

$ ip route show
192.168.2.1 dev wlan0 scope link
192.168.2.0/24 via 192.168.2.1 dev wlan0 src 192.168.2.4

[code]....

With this, and everything else, I get destination host unreachable when pinging. The strange thing is that, if I unplug my eth cable, reboot and connect to the wireless network, everything is fine and I can access the router and the others. I'm trying to improve my networking skills, as I've had this of setting up a small linux box as a router for quite some time, for the fun of it, but I need to get routing under control before I go ruin my network.

OpenSUSE Network :: Having IP Address Via DHCP But No Connection?

I've just installed opensuse 11.2 with the network installation iso. But when the installation finish.I have no network connection It's strange, because I have IP address, I get the IP from the DHCP server, and I can see the IP addreess if I do "ifconfig", the default route and even the DNS servers in the resolv.conf file; but I cannot ping my gateway (that is the DHCP server as well!!), I cannot ping anything in my network and either anything in internet. I see a network error at the start, but it finally gets the ip address. In the dmesg, the last message repeats over and over. The machine is a Hyper-V virtual machine, but as I said... I worked very well during the installation, I don't know what is going on. I've tried to reinstall, but it doesn't make any difference

Ubuntu :: Alias - SCP File From Folder To Network

Dec 17, 2010

I know this is a relatively simple problem but no matter what combination I try for my alias, I don't seem to be able to get it right! All I want to do is scp a file from my current folder to a location on the network:
Code:
scp filename username@computername:/folder1/folder2

This is the usual layout of the command that I use, so I thought that to save time, I would create an alias or even a function which did this for me, so all I had to type was
Code:
scp101 filename
and it would copy it to the set folder on the remote computer...

My attempt at an alias looks like:
Code:
alias scp101='scp !* username@computername:/folder1/folder2'
and I have also attempted a function:
Code:
scp101()
{
scp "$1" username@computername:/folder1/folder2
}

The alias tells me that filename is not a directory, which I assume means that I have some of the syntax wrong in the alias but I did a google search and I can't seem to find a decent example of what I'm trying to do. When I load up a terminal, I get an error message about the "(" of the scp101 function - so I've obviously can't get the syntax of that right either...
