openSUSE 10.3 is firewall with multiple public IPs, on one external interface..In protected zone is server with multiple LAN IPs, binded to different instances of Lotus Domino servers (irrelevant), and incoming connections are routed according to destination IP of incoming package to different LAN IPs(FW_FORWARD_MASQ set with "destination ip" parameter).I would get something like SNAT instead MASQUERADING for packages that are traveling from internal servers to Internet.
i have a big problem y have to make an alias for the eth0 interface, i made it with yast and my alias was eth0:1, first, if i try to shutdown the interface i cant it give an error and tell me that the interface dont exist and the second threat is if i can put a default gateway for this alias something like this in other distributions:
route add 128.26.6.11 gw 192.168.28.201 dev eth0:1
There is a cable plugged in to the second network card, but that interface is not configured. I'm getting a lotof "martian source" alerts because of this.If the interface eth1 isn't started because it isn't configured, why am I getting these messages?
I think I put my question on a wrong sub-forum. My problem is I can't get apache to produce right output to XMLHttpRequest responseText but instead it displays php source code. On another server the same code works as it should.
When I open the php script on a browser window it works as it should.
this is the thread in programming sub-forum Apache sends php source code to Ajax - openSUSE Forums
How do you change the hostname in SLES11? I have normally used the /etc/hostname file and rebooted the server in other distros. I only notice the way to change it is in yast2 -> network devices -> network settings -> Hostnames. I am looking for where it is stored because I want to write a script to update it (apart of a server deployment process).
I have installed openSuse and set up a as web server have apache2 running but need to change the MPM to worker. How is this done, I am new to OpeneSuse and Unix/Linux I know where to change the worker settings I just need to enable it over the prefork default. I know how they work I just need how to change to worker.
I have configured Network Manager with another eth0 entry for openDNS. This works ok if I switch to that configuration, but if I reboot, it reverts back to the normal settings.
How can a permanently set it to stay with the new DNS servers?
I've a little trouble: I reinstalled on my notebook OpenSUSE 11.3 yesterday and I'm unable to change the hostname. I modified it, but when I type on terminal
Code: uname -a
it doesn't give the right answer but returns
Code: host
I don't know where I wrong because I did this action many times with Opensuse 11.1 and 11.3 without any problem.
I want to load the package madwifi under opensuse from Index of /suse/11.1, but RealPlayer did not function correctly. The reason why I want to use madwifi is that I cannot start my internet with opensuse 11.1 using motherboard from asus with the ethernet adapter from Atheros AR 8121/AR8113 PCI-E Version 1.0.0.5. When I compile the delivered Linux drivers I got the failure message "Makefile:61: Linux kernel source not found". So I decided to take rpm from opensuse within madwifi. How/Where can I get the corrosponding madwifi elsewhere?
I'm having a wireless issue (go figure) where I can't get to the internet, can get to my LAN just fine, but trying to ping anywhere on the net just gives me "network unavailable" message. One thing I've seen noted here time and again is people saying "Use Yast vs Network manager" when I go through the Yast Network Devices GUI it tells me it's using network manager, and I need to use ifup (if I want to use Yast), however I have no clue how to go about changing it from one to the other?
Currently I'm using hard-link to get all the updates and see if that will resolve my problems, but figured I'd learn how I'm supposed to switch it for the future.
I'm trying to setup a cups printing server, but I want the default admin to not be root. Google has given me a couple hints and the cups administration page a little further but I'm now stuck at the end. What I want is a user called admin who belongs to the group printadmin as cups server administrator. What I have done1) I have created a local user called admin user yast user interface , and a group called printadmin. Added admin to the group printadmin2) I changed the line in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.SystemGroup sys roottoSystemGroup printadmin 3) Changed all instances of of Authtype from Basic to Digest (Allows me to have a file called passwd.md5 in /etc/cups/ with the name of the allowed cups admins inside)4) Ran the following command to create and add admin.Code:lppasswd -a -g printadmin dmin This is what I receive after running the commandlppasswd -a -g printadmin administratorEnter password:Enter password again:lppasswd: Die Kennwortdatei wird verwendet!
OpenSuSE 11.3 (but this is not likely a distro specific issue)Kernel 2.6.34.7, but likely applies to a number of previousAm close to launching a more extensive webpage describing in detail why and how this configuration is important, but I'm missing up to date information on how to persist the config. By default, changing the TCP Congestion Control algorithm only modifies the current system session. Docs I've read recommend that the command resetting the algorithm be written to Code:/etc/rc.d/rc.dAm confused with all the different config files, but I suspect either an existing file should be modified or an additional file should be modified in
I installed openSUSE on my notebook with an usb drive using openSUSE 11.4 KDE LIVE iso. The installation process set the name to "linux-ygrl" which I don't really like. (I probably just missed the setting during the installation.). I tried to change it through YaST -> Network -> Hostnames and I set everything where needed to the new name and restarted but the changed weren't applied. I searched the web and found out about the /etc/HOSTNAME file which still contains "linux-ygrl". Now I could change it manually but I was wondering if there is a GUI for it? (I mean, openSUSE has for alsmost everything a GUI.
I installed SLES 10.2 with SAMBA 3.5.5.43 to retire our old Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and save some money. All was fine until last week when our chief asked to me to set password expiration for all clients. This morning, all users cannot logon because, when they logon, windows asks to change password and then it gives error error "Access Denied".
my last Fedora installation, the pulseaudio source is wrong. The default sink is:
[code]...
How can I permanently change the Default source to be:
[code]...
When I change it on desktop login as regular user to the right thing, then log out or reboot, I have to change it again when I log back in again. This is with an Audigy2 card, and onboard audio chip. I switch between the two for various reasons.
I'm trying to create packets with modified source and destination IP and ports. Well, I'm using a raw socket from <sys/socket.h> to do this. I create, everything is fine, but when I send the packet, I see with the wireshark that the source IP is not the spoofed one, but the real one.. It means that, before to send the packet, something in the kernel is doing this change. which part of the kernel is doing this and how can I deactivate this? Also, my distro: Debian Sid.
when i tried install any package using add/remove software it's go download in the web what i need package.i need change the installation source via cd or dvd drive,.So i want to change the installation source path. Please guide to me how to change the installation source path.
I want to modify the source of cd (the 'change directory' command) to do a little extra for me, but I can't seem to find the source code anywhere.. maybe I didn't look for it well enough, and googling "source code cd" and variants of that doesn't exactly help... I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the src?
which, according to this guide, should give me max powersaving on battery and adaptive clocking on AC. However, now if I unplug the AC, plug it in again, and then unplug for the second time, system freezes.
I haven't used Linux very much, so I'm not sure how to do this. I'm presently running the 2.6.24-26 version of the Linux kernel on Ubuntu. However, I need to upgrade to 2.6.32. I have the source files (arch, block, firmware, drivers, kernel, include, etc), but I have no idea how to change the source of the kernel, or if there's an easier/automatic way to do this, and I specifically need the 2.6.32 version.
Originally my ubuntu uses official source list as apt-get update target, obviously it is very slow, these days I find a source mirror in my own region, I want to replace original one with current mirror.
Although everything works OK but when I try to update a new software, it still downloads from original official websites, still slow, in fact it can be much faster if get from local regional.
I'm just curious if anybody knows how to change the default settings in gnome-mplayer from it using video0 as the video input (which is my built-in webcam), to say video1 (which is my external usb tv tuner). There is no gui option for this.
My issue is not being able to use it for analog video, though it's not a huge deal because I figured out the same very thing for tvtime (video0 to video1). It'd just be another option.
Now I have installed Lucid on a VM of Sun VBox. It is now running. But I found the source.list still refers to karmic. What can I do? Change all karmic to lucid?
