General :: Postfix Error: Address Not Found In Virtual Alias Table

Sep 8, 2010

I setup a virtual server with these configurations:

1. Mail server: POSTFIX / DOVECOT
2. Webmin / Virtualmin

I am getting email to desired folders locally but I am not getting email from outside to desired users. Emails are bounced back with message "Address not found in virtual alias table".

Recent log errors are:

Sep 8 04:25:49 server1 postfix/smtpd[28002]: cannot load Certificate Authority data

Software :: Cannot Send Email / PostFix / Virtual Alias Table

Apr 1, 2011

I have a website sitting on my private server (CentOS 5x) running plesk 9.2.2. There is a form for customers to fill out and when they press send it sends the data to a specified email address and a BCC if desired (email address present in BCC Field) and and response to the person submitting the form. The problem I am having is everyone gets their email after the submit button is pressed except the person listed in the TO field. Below is the output from postconf -n and below that is the maillog

[root@usloft1105 ~]# postconf -n
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases, hash:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/aliases

Server :: Recipient Address Rejected: User Unknown In Virtual Alias Table

Oct 28, 2009

I have a Fedora box running a domain and a sub domain. It also is the mail server running Postfix and Dovecot. I have created a new user account in the Virtual Alias.conf file and run postfix reload.

"e.g [URL] admin_company"

This new account can send mail internally and externally but cannot receive mail internally and externally.
The error message internally is: 5.1.1 <admin@threadneedle.com.pg>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

Software :: Postfix Virtual Alias For Second Domain Not Mapping Correctly?

I moved the catch-all mapping to the bottom of the virtual_alias_maps hash, and I realized my problem description wasn't accurate. All mail is going to user1. The header tells me it's going to user2 or user3, but everything is delivered to user1. postfix 2.5.5 fc8 /etc/postfix/virtual:

Code:

me@domain2.com user2
another@domain2.com user3

my catch-all for [URL]t is working ok. however, everything sent to [URL] is delivered to user2 (local). i am expecting [URL] mail to be delivered to user3 (also local)

Fedora Servers :: Configure Email Address Alias Using Regular Expression In Postfix?

Mar 8, 2010

I am trying to configure virtual alias using regular expression.

For example :

Email send to user.1@example.com and user.2@example.com will deliver to user mailbox.

Email send to user2.1@example.com and user2.2@example.com will deliver to user2 mailbox.

And the numbers or alphabet in between user name and the domain will be vary , I can't just do a normal alias.

I been try to play around with main.cf and the virtual alias table but still not able to get work. So I am not sure is the main.cf didnt configure correctly or the regular expression is not working.

Server :: POSTFIX - Virtual Domain And Alias Maps Results In 'unknown User'

Aug 16, 2009

I've setup postfix using mysql tables and all works except for sending to an alias. The mysql logs show that postfix is only looking at the mailbox table for where to deliver the mail for the alias. However it is not looking in the virtual alias maps table. There are no complaints from postfix on startup to indicate that there is anything wrong, and if I send to a virtual domain listed as a relay on the server it does look up the virtual alias table... even though the domain is not hosted on the server....

So the question I have is where to look next? The mysql log shows the expected lookups from postfix EXCEPT for the virtual alias map queries.... why would it not be checking the table? Since it is not looking up the virtual alias it bounces the addresses back to sender complaining that the user doesn't exist... It does deliver to a virtal mailbox, however again it never checks the vitual alias table.... so it only delivers since there's a mailbox for it rather than needing an alias...

Ubuntu Security :: Postfix - Not Critical - SMTP Server: Errors From Unknown [ip Address] In Local Recipient Table

Jan 2, 2010

This is a transcript I get emailed at least once every day, usually about 3 to 10 a day recently.

Transcript of session follows.
SMTP server: errors from unknown[ip address]
<boring stuff snipped>
In: RCPT TO: <server@my domain>
Out: 550 5.1.1 <server@my domain>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table

Session aborted, reason: lost connection Now I cannot seem to find anything via Google, as when I put "server@" anywhere in the string, I just get web hosting or other kroomst. The emails usually come from legit places, usually hotels. Does this mean they are sending bad emails, i.e. they have a Trojan/worm, or is this a live hack attempt?. I believe the later, as I might get upto 3 domains from the one ip address, which is always, NOT associated with the listed domain. Not causing me any issues, except I have been getting a lot recently.

Software :: Domain Alias Email And Actual Forwards In Postfix?

Jul 6, 2010

I want two alias functionality:

1. when a mail is sent to an account; if it has a forwarder set; it should forward a copy of email to the mentioned email address.

2. all the emails sent to a domain alias should be automatically forwarded to the respective email account in the main domain.

eg for 1. xyz@abc.com => hfg@gmail.com
eg for 2. xyz@alias.com => xyz@maindomain.com

We have a database that stores the mailboxes as we have our own control panel. I can get only one working at a time. I have the mysql query in the .cf file and mentioned it in the main.cf as 'virtual_alias_maps' but i need both to work not just one at a time.

Server :: Virtual Postfix - Mysql And Virtual Aliases ?

Oct 14, 2010

I've got a working Virtual Postfix server running with mysql doing user authentication. I have a support email address set as support@hostname.com, which has 5 aliases associated; user1, user2, user3, user4, and user5. When an email is sent to support@hostname.com, all 5 users receive the email, just as planned. What I'm looking to do is when an email is sent to support@hostname.com to have it rotate through the members of the alias group. That way all members of the group get support emails evenly and not everybody all at once. Is this possible?

Debian Configuration :: Apache Directory Alias Leaking Into Virtual Hosts

Sep 14, 2015

I don't know if this should be a followup to my prior topic [URL] ....

Each of the pieces I've installed all have an "Alias" directive in the conf file to link the directory where they live to be present on my server. For instance, DotClear lives in /usr/share/dotclear/web/ and there is a directive

Code: Select allAlias /dotclear /usr/share/dotclear/web
that directs http://myserver/dotclear to that site.

Now, I've set up VirtualHost entries for my DotClear and Owncloud with their own hostnames.

Code: Select all<VirtualHost *:443>
   ServerName          myowndotclear.com
   ServerAlias         www.myowndotclear.com
   DocumentRoot        /usr/share/dotclear/web

[Code] ....

Something similar for Owncloud.

The problem is when I go to [URL] ...., I get to my mythweb site.

This is not so good. So, for the sites that have their own hostnames, I removed the "Alias ..." directive. Of course, now I can't get to the hosts by going to the primary site which is probably fine, but I also still get my mythweb since that doesn't have it's own virtualhost entry.

This doesn't seem like correct behavior. Is there a better place to put the "Alias ..." directive so that it only works from one site and not all of them?

I am also thinking I should just link the directories into /var/www/html, but I'm not sure that's a better solution.

Networking :: Outgoing Local Trafic Over Virtual Interface Has Not Virtual Ip Address

Aug 25, 2009

When I create virtual ethernet interface and do a ping -I <v_int> <host> the outgoing address is the one of the physical interface and NOT the virtual interface. Is there no chance that trafic will go out with virtual interface address??Incoming trafic is done well i.e. responds to the virtual interface have the virtual address.

My problem is that I have 2 modems and want to check both default gw behind the modems.
If I do a "normal" ping both are reachable over default route even the modem which is not the default route will not work because ping goes over the working modem. So I have 2 routing tables and want to route the virtual interface to one modem the other to the other modem

Programming :: Physical Versus Virtual Mac Address And Mac Address From NIC's Firmware?

Apr 6, 2011

I need a small shell based program that prints the mac address of physical ethernet adapter from it's firmware. I need this utility for license generation and appliance activation. I have tried several example but none of them is flawless, The easiest method I have found is to parse the output of "ifconfig" command but it has also some drawbacks.

1. Firstly program should differentiate between physical and virtual adapters. Physical means installed on board(wired or wireless) or installed additionally. Virtual adapters are those created by VPN or created by virtualization apps such as VirtualBox/VMWare etc. I am not interested in virtual ones.

2. In case of more them one physical adapters(wired and wireless), it should print the mac address and description(name & vendor) of both/all adapters.

3. If media is disconnected then also it should be able to read the mac address and description(name, vendor) of card.

4. This one is bit complex. I know that 'ethtool' can show you the universal mac address but it's limited to use only 2 types of drivers and won't work in all cases.

General :: Virtual Address To Physical Memory Access ?

Feb 21, 2010

A process is trying one access to memory, for example through an array (ex.: vect[0]=123. What happens?

Here below what I guess but I'm not sure and accept any comment (please, distinguish between "the system" and "the CPU" in case).

Let's suppose swapping to disk disbled.

We have two scenarios: without and with cache.

If no cache is present in the system:
1. The CPU must discover the phys addr of vect[0] virtual addr. To do that, has to read from 3 (or 2 depending on the system?) pages tables, stored in memory as well.
2. The CPU writes to the final address.

These mean 4 memory accesses.

If cache is present:
1. Like above but, if the pages tables are in cache, we have 3 accesses to that.
2. If the req. page is not in cache, it's reads from ram and transferred to it. Afterwards, cache is written.
In the best case we have 4 cache accesses.

General :: Can't Statically Decide Virtual Address Of The Function At Compile Time?

Feb 8, 2010

I have read a couple of articles on how dynamic linking works (those stuff about got, plt and lazy binding), and I am still not sure why you need to do dynamic linking in such a complicated way.Suppose your program uses a function in a shared library that needs to be linked dynamically at run time (like a printf). Why can't you statically decide the virtual address of the function at compile time? After all, all you need to do is to enter the page table entry corresponding to the address of the function if the library has been already loaded to a physical page frame.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Proxy - Error "can't Initialize Iptables Table `nat': Table Does Not Exist"

We purchased a virtual server from GoDaddy (1 month trial) to set up as a proxy for our networks (24 of them). I am having 2 separate issues. The first is I can't configure/install NAT and support is telling me the only way I can is to purchase a dedicated server. Here's the error:

Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. Here's the fix: [URL] So, what I am hoping to do is configure this by just opening port 3128 directly, and only allowing access from our networks. As a test I did this and allowed only from our office and it did not work. However I can't connect, so I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Here's my squid configuration:

General :: Mapping Kernel Virtual Address Space To Physical Memory Zones?

Nov 4, 2010

As i undertsand - out of 1GB of the virtual Address space for Kernel from 3GB to 4GB of the process address space, Kernel image (code, data, bss, stack, heap) resides staring @0x0 address. Vmalloc area starts either at the end of Physical ram size or at 896M. This 896M cap is mandated to ensure that minimum of 128MB is reserved as vmalloc_reserve for vmalloc, kmap etc.

Is the understanding correct? Now trying to map Physical Zones into this 1GB address space

Initial 16MB is mapped to ZONE_DMA
16MB - 896MB is mapped to ZONE_NORMAL
896MB - 1024MB is mapped to ZONE_HIGHMEM

Does this mean that Kernel image is residing in ZONE_DMA area? Any call to vmalloc() in kernel code will return address beyond 896M? insmod of any LKM will internally invoke vmalloc() to obtain contiguous area - where will this code physically located along with rest of kernel code in ZONE_DMA or in ZONE_HIGHMEM?
