Since updating a few days ago I cannot start dolphin, digikam and a lot of other KDE apps any more. The error message from Dolphin is

The versions are openSUSE 11.3 (64-bit) and KDE 4.6.
I updated Fedora 12 a couple of weeks ago, and Amarok stopped working. The splash screen came up, and hung there until clicked on. Looking at the process, it uses 49-50% CPU (weird since it's on an Acer One netbook with an Atom N270 single core processor) and the memory footprint steadily increases. I hung on for another update to see if that fixed it, but one came through today with an update to Amarok, but it is still broken.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that are a few applications (non part of the kde apps) that do not launch with alt + f2 (command name). Instead I have to use konsole first and write the command name, then the apps appears successfully.
The same problem I have of course with the same apps if I make a desktop shorcut. These apps never show up! Thus I would like to ask you what should I do to make these shortcuts and alt+f2 launches to work.

Was wondering if someone could suggest a reference and possible approach to troubleshooting openSUSE update. I'd always assumed that the openSUSE update (applet) would notify me and update any apps installed from any of the configured repositories.This week I found two applications were not detected and updated, one from the Pacman repository where an update was available for more than 2 weeks and another from the Contrib repository where an update was available for an unknown amount of time.I manually detected and updated both using zypper without any special repository configuration.The SUSE updater has been running regularly installing critical and recommended patches regularly without issue.Am considering
- Maybe somewhere there is a config specifying repositories and/or apps? I can't seem to find something that's applicable.
- Maybe I misunderstood that the SUSE updater isn't supposed to update anything from non-OSS repositories?
I have a problem with DBGL (DosBox Graphic Launcher), after installation through Yast I got the icons alright but when clicked they just bounce for some time and then nothing, the program DBGL doesn't start, while DosBox alone works o.k.
Running DBGL in Terminal gives me this:

Konsole (when in root) fails to start up after it is used once (i.e., opened, work performed, closed/terminated). Bouncing cursor does its thing on second and subsequent uses, but times out normally and Konsole window never appears. Stock install from DVD.

I have recently disabled nautilus from showing up on my desktop. Now I can't seem to start nautilus. Starting it from gnome-terminal doesn't display anything, and it never shows, and it never terminates. I have updated GNOME 3 and it no longer works. Having suspected extensions the problem I have manually uninstalled all extensions via command line. This got me to log in instead of the problem screen. However, the desktop is entirely unresponsive, after log in it no longer responds to anything, although the mouse still tracks.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently I updated my openSUSE 11.2 and I'm not too sure what all were the recent updates but I suspect networkmanager also got updated. After I restarted my machine, my laptop fails to connect to the wireless access point. I tried both in gnome as well as KDE but the same error. This is the log I found in my /var/log/NetworkManager which I believe should give some pointers.

I did a search of this error in google and all I got were few results which complained about bugs in some debian distro.
My wireless card works fine and so does the access point I try to connect to since my Ubuntu installation is able to connect fine as well as my windows Xp.

what is causing the failure of the X session and how to fix the problem? I would be glad if you give me any hints or pointers.
I am trying to update Flash-player and yast2-core as prompted by today's update icon.
I am now faced with a loop that goes like this:
1) click on icon
2) window pops up, "2 packages selected"
3) click on apply, subwindow pops up
4) click on continue, "waiting for authentication"
5) after minutes of waiting, click on cancel, nothing happens
6) click on icon killing subwindow
7) now back to 2)
Aborting the process, starting at 1) again, same mess
Conclusions:
a) No idea what was going on
b) Use Yast instead of clicking update icon
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit, downloaded Adobe reader '.bin', from the terminal
It extracted and asked me for a installation location, to which i put [~]
It then finished the installation.
But when i click on the icon in the start menu or on desktop it fails to start, when i also click on a .pdf document it also fails to start!
I am using: Firefox 3.6.14 from buildservice. 3.6.13 from buildservice did work flawlessly. System 11.1 KDE3.5 release 21.13.1

I installed some software upgrades this made possible but the process failed on some point (I didn't make a note of the details) and the next time I tried to log on it booted up to the CLI. I tried startx and got the message;

I am trying to update using Update Manager and I get this message: Failed to fetch "Failed to fetch [URL]..404 Not Found" My system is 64 days out of date now.

1) When i login to my DE (LXDE) i want to have several applications start automaticly.. Status: Done.
2) Now, i want them to be started on other displays/desktop, the virtual desktop ones, those you access with ctrl+alt+arrowkey. Status: requesting
I had figured that there's an option to those applications i'd like to be started, display=.However, starting up these apps with the display argument, causes graphic errors on LXPanel and causes an error, rather than to be display on current desktop.
