When I try to change the login theme using Personnel Settings Command I get an error window stating: '/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kdm --lang en_US' not found.

View 7 Replies View RelatedopenSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4 release 2.I can change the desktop theme and the splash theme, but I can not change the KDM login manager theme.First, I changed th setting /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME from suse to nothing in Yast -> /etc/sysconfig editor in order to get rid of the ugly Suse login theme.That resulted in having the traditional KDM login theme with the clock.I go to Personal Settings -> Advanced tab -> System: Login Manager (I enter the root password).In tab "General" I checked "Use themed greeter". Gui style and color scheme are set to default.In tab "Theme" I select a theme, click apply, then clikc ok.I log out and log in again. Nothing has changed. I still have the oldstyle KDM login theme.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on openSUSE 11.1 KDE 4.3 RC, and I'm using the kde-branding-openSUSE with KDM from the factory KDE repo, and factory community repo - everything is up-to-date.For some reason my KDM login settings screen is ALL grayed out, so I can't change the theme/settings. I know that you can change it by going to yast and editing the /etc/sysconfig thinghich I actually tried doing, and failing, which is odd because I changed it once a ltime ago to glassified, but can't manage to do now...) I don't want to use a theme, though, but actually use my current wallpaper and set the settings in the login manager to something of my preference.

i had also added vbox users(i ticked vboxusers) under yast-security and users-user and group management-edit-details to make virtual box work.
i want to check that installed theme so i restarted my laptop.after the restart opensuse taking too long time to boot
note:the login theme also not working.
after the boot i restored defaults in login screen themes.it is also not working.
i don't know which cause this problem(vboxusers or login theme).i am also seeing a root user has been added in my login area.i tried opensuse failsafe also.
to change the login theme. I go to 'Configure Desktop' then 'Login Screen' and change it but when i log out it is still the default screen. Even if i reset the computer it is still the Default... is there something else i need todo? I am using opensuse 11.4 with KDE as default but i have Gnome installed too.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed some kdm themes (ethais, NewEssenceFinal, oxygen, oxygen-air, MIB-Ossigeno-Kdm-Neutral-2.2) that I would like to try out and they are present in "/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/".
Changing the theme through SystemSettings>Login Screen changed nothing, logging out still defaulted to the default SUSE theme. So I tried the SysConfig editor through YAST and changed DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME to the theme I wanted, still no change after logging out. I have also changed DISPLAYMANAGER to kdm4.
Opened the "/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager" file to make sure the correct line had changed, and it was.
I deleted the SUSE theme, again made sure the theme I wanted was selected, but now it defaults to a background wallpaper and rather plain looking login screen. I don't know if this is correct but I am using the folder name of the theme I want as the string I enter into SysConfig. I have even rebooted several times just in case it was required. I have tried this through my regular account, obviously entering my root password when required, and also through the root account itself.
I remember back with 7.10, 8.04, 8.10, and I think even Ubuntu 9.xx I was able to change the login theme but now I cannot do that anymore with 10.04.
Does anyone know how I can do this?

How can I change the login theme in Fedora 10. I googled for so long but I am not able to get an answer for Fedora 10. And unlike Fedora 8 there is no option in System -> Administration -> Login Window . This option is no there in Fedora 10 . is it some missing components or do I need to install additional package.

Clearlooks. So, I tried upgrading to Maverick, thinking it would default the login screen to the new themes. No such luck.

I just installed successfully Wheezy, but I can't change my Login Window Theme.I put the three files (.desktop .xml and.jpg) in/usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/),I think that my mistake is here but I don't know where to put the .xml file and the .jpg files.And the I edited the file/etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults.The background is well-displayed but the "theme" is still the same.

In 11.2 you can change theme by right-click on wallpaper->Dekstop Settings->theme.
In 11.3 there's no more that "Desktop Settings" voice from right-click's menu, there's only a "Desktop Activity Settings" which only let me choose wallpaper.
I've saved from live cd icons, themes and wallpapers of 11.2 and now I want them all in 11.3 as I don't like its default theme.
How to install a login theme where i saw the best way to install them is by System->Administration->Login Window.....
However i ain't getting the login window option...........all i get is login screen which does not give me the option to change the login theme.
For some reason, from time to time on login, as my normal theme starts to load, it changes to some sort of silver theme (a very basic one), and I am unable to change it over to any other theme. Checking the theme being used, it still says my desired one is set, but it is not. Also, no matter what theme I change it to, that basic silver theme is the one being used. This includes a default icon theme, not the one I prefer.
The only option that seems to fix things is a restart, and the hope that on this login it won't mess up like before.I am using Natty, from a fresh install, with Ubuntu Classic as my desktop, and have reinstalled things more than once to try and fix a few of the Natty-related issues, but this one keeps coming back.
I recently downloaded a login theme, extracted the archive and in the INSTALL file it says: Use 'gdmsetup' to install.I typed gdmsetup in terminal but command not found message returned. Anyone knows how to set up this theme?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated my laptop from F12 to F14 via preupgrade. After doing so, the standard mouse theme was active. So I installed the one I like again and set it as mouse theme. For some reason it is now a mixture of the one I installed and the standard theme. If I open a place in nautilus the displayed symbol is the right one while waiting, if I open something in control center I get the standard icon. Same problem with drag and drop, I always get the hand from the standard theme. I also tried the former standard theme Bluecurve and it was the same problem.Can anyone tell me what goes wrong with the theme? What has changed in F14, that the older themes won't work?

In the VeloxBoot.sh, if I don't press any key, my application starts after a timeout. If the user presses a key I want to have a login prompt. Unfortunately, if I start /bin/login, I have a prompt with login, but once I enter my login, it does not ask for a password and it says wrong password
currently using, openSuSE v11.1 kde v4.3.1.i have, bootsplash, splashy, kdm4 installed.im trying to install the 'fingerprint' theme upon boot.I have autologin enabled for kde. I've tried to install it via splashy, 'splashy_config --set-theme fingerprint' and it works when i do 'splashy --test fingerprint' but when i reboot it doesnt implement it. same old green theme.have also tried to install it through 'login manager' it says its loaded but again, reboot and same default opensuse green logos. ive been following instruction from the theme located at kde-look.org. it looks fantastic.

There I select and click "install" for "planet exp". All goes well except the new splash screen does not appear in the list of available splash screens.
