When I plug-in any kind of usb storage device an error massage appears
Unable to mount (name of the devise) DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending and the window of the devise opens several times. Everything working just fine, I can store files and read them, but I don't want to close all the windows that opens-up each time I plug some thing.
My CD/DVD-drive used to work when I started using OpenSuse, but lately when I try to play a CD or DVD the icon doesn't show up and I can't open the disc using vlc.
It sounds that the system tries to mount the disc over and over and I get an error message that says "Couldn't mount audio disc (in Swedish)" (if that's what I'm trying to do) and it says something about a dbus error. Sometimes nothing happens at all when I put a CD in the drive.
I'm using OpenSuse 11.2 and Gnome 2.28.2 on an Acer Timeline 5810TG.
I first noted a few weeks ago I couldn't mount my NTFS partitions using dolphin. At the time I was having problems with windows, so I thought - naturally, they are marked as dirty, no biggie-
However, I still can't mount them and I know they are clean. I get the error: "filesystem is neither well know nor in /proc/filesystem nor in /etc/filesystems" which is strange since I can mount just fine in the console using mount -t ntfs-3g.
I installed OpenSUSE 11.3 64 bit version on my Dell Laptop Studio XPS 16. My USB mouse is working nicely. However, as I inserted MTS USB MODEM, I found that device is not mounted. "dmesg" shows USB modem in sdb emulating as scsi10 drive. I tried with 'fdisk -l" which does not show the device. 'lsusb' shows the device ID. Itried to mount /dev/sdb to /media/disk after creating a directory /media/disk, but of no use.
I am using Opensuse11 and i have created an lvm involving two disks /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc. I have created a lvm volume group of 5 GB with the above 2 disks. The problem is it is unable to mount at boot time. It is giving the following error messages:-
mount: special device /dev/TST_VOL/VOL1 does not exist ... ...
i jsut installed opensuse kde and xfce and i cannot mount dvd/cd 's. i am using opensuse 11.3 32 bit. i added my user to the cdrom drive group but still no luck. How to get the cd to mount by jsut clicking on the dolphin icon?
been searching google and forums for about 5 hours now, and can't figure this one out, I have a server running opensuse 11.2 sharing various NFS directories, I have one laptop that is running 11.2 and I have no problem getting my NFS shares from the server. On my other laptop that is running 11.3, I had the shares working at one point, but changed things around and added a new HD to the server, now I can NOT get this thing to work, I have tried everything I could find to read on it. Started and stopped the NFS server and exportfs -a, and checked /var/logs/messages on server and nothing about this laptop (192.168.0.102 suse 11.3) trying to connect. On this laptop, I have deleted all the shares, and tried to re-add them but still get this error everytime.on server /etc/export:
I put a cd or dvd in and i get this error message "Unable to mount ..... Authentication is required" What's going on? i used to be able to do this no problems
I have two systems, one running 11.2 x64, and the other running 11.3 x64. on both systems, I've lost the ability to mount internal partitions "on-the-fly" from the Dolphin panel.Trying to mount via Dolphin has always given me this error on the 11.3 system, but only recently started happening in the 11.2 system after a recent "zypper dup" (using the "Stable" KDE 4.4 repo). If others are experiencing this same issue, please let me know so I can file a bug report. Please note that the error only occurs for internal partitions, and external drives work fine.
I double click "My Computer" and Konqueror goes to sysinfo:/I then try to click on one of my partitions (ones that are already mounted or ones that are not)eeted with the error; There is no application installed that can open files of the type block device inode/blockdevice).Do you want to try to install one?It goes through the repo and finds nothing.I love openSUSE and this one error is the only thing keeping me from being able to use this release.
Previously, everytime I insert a USB drive it automatically mounts. But now I am getting this error:
"Unable to mount 8.0 GB Media DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
Also, previously my CD/DVD works properly. But now everytime I insert a disk, this is what I get:
"Unable to mount TOSHIBA
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
I just upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3, everything seems to be working fine except that my other hard disk partitions are un mountable as my normal user. I used to be able to click on the drive in Dolphin and it would ask for the root password to mount it, but now it gives the error that the action is denied by org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-fixed auth_admin_keep_always <-- (action, result) What do I do to fixed this? I have checked as many settings as I can and can't find it. I would like to avoid editing the Policykit.conf file manually if possible (if that even is the right file).
I have a Thecus NAS with nfs support running. Now I switched from OpenSUSE 10 to 11.2 on the client side and aren't able to mount my nfs shares. With SuSe 10.0 I didn't have any problems.
The /etc/exports: /raid/home_nas1 192.168.0.24/31(rw,no_root_squash,sync,anonuid=99,anongid=99,no_subtree_check) /raid/soundandmore 192.168.0.24/31(rw,no_root_squash,sync,anonuid=99,anongid=99,no_subtree_check)
On the client side I'm able to see the shares: showmount -e nas1 Export list for nas1: /raid/home_nas1 192.168.0.24/31 /raid/soundandmore 192.168.0.24/31
The client address: inet addr:192.168.0.27
I'm using nfs-3: mount -t nfs nas1:/raid/soundandmore/mnt mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting nas1:/raid/soundandmore
I had to change the mounting properties of my disk partitions so i tinkered with the fstab file.. Now I am unable to mount the cdrom as a normal user..To mount the cdrom I had to login as root in terminal and use the following command:
Code: mount /mnt/cdrom The cdrom entry in my fstab file reads:
I did the latest update on the opensuse 11.4 other day and since then my USB drive is not mounting. initially I thought its gone because my son dropped on the floor. But then when I plugged it to Windows 7 machine it mounted then I plugged it into another Ubuntu 10.10 machine it mounted so I figured out the there is some issue in the latest update. I have all the VMs in this drive and my main laptop is with OpenSuse 11.4
I'm trying to get an external HD to mount on my Dell Laptop running OpenSuse 11.1. When I connect I get the following:
Quote:
dmesg:
usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4 usb 1-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=0bc2, idProduct=0503 usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=54, Product=69, SerialNumber=95
[code].....
But am left scratching my head. I don't think its showing up in the etc/mtab - which i think it is supposed to?
- The icons in my desktop is always changing randomly upon startup - Evince can't remember the last page i read before quitting - Unable to mount usb automatically (have to do 'mount /dev/sdc1/ /media/usb' and 'df -h' every startup)
All of these problems happened just recently. I thought they were coming from unresolved packaging but after upgrading and distro-upgrading from packman only, and gnome, the problems still persist. If it helps, here's my zypper lr -d
Just installed opensuse 11.3 Kdeversion on my laptop. Before installing it on live mode i had a problem of accessing my other drives (NTFS, FAT32 and EXT4) which said HAL system policy...etc mounting error. I could access all drives with root privilege. I thought problem will be solver once i install opensuse on my system. How ever i was really disappointed after seeing the same problem post install. Googled around for the solution and got this link
[Code]...
After this the problem got worse now i am not able to see any of the drives in the side panel. Gone through many forum and posts all discuss about external USB HDD.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running Ubuntu v10.04 with a wireless card.My desktop is a Dell Optiflex running WinXP.The desktop is connected via ethernet cable to a Linksys wireless router. Certain folders on the desktop are set for sharing. Up until early last week I was able to access the desktop folders from the laptop with no issues.Suddenly I am now getting this error "Unable to mount location Failed to mount Windows share" whenever I try to access the desktop folders from the laptop.I suspect an upgrade is the culprit, but not sure.
actually some my windows ntfs partiitions are unable to mount at start up. the error msg is -'some of your partitions are unable to mount press 's' to skip or 'm' to manually mount.
i'm trying to connect to the three other machines in my house but am having quite a hard time doing so. i've never had a problem in the past with ubuntu, but, with 9.1 and windows 7, things have gotten a bit harder. i'm running 9.1 and my roommates are running windows 7. i've installed, set up and configured samba and i can see the computers on my network, but any time i try to access either of the drives, it says unable to mount location: failed to mount windows share.
I just installed Linux Mint Debian Edition on my friend's laptop. The biggest problem is getting his iPhone 4 to mount. On libimobiledevice.org it shows a cool video of a guy managing his iPhone with Linux thanks to libimobiledevice. libimobiledevice.org also says libimobiledevice supports the iPhone 4. But when he plugs it in, he gets an error that says:
Quote: Unable to mount location: Unhandled Lockdown error (-5) It's a serious issue and needs to be resolved ASAP. ***EDIT*** If this is a hardware topic, any mods can feel free to move it.
I have been using truecrypt to mount a partition on my computer for a few months now. Yesterday I tried to access it and it failed, with the following error:" mount: you must specify the filesystem type "
When creating the partition, the filesystem type was set to ext2. Apart from yesterday, I have not accessed this partition for a number of days now, and have done nothing to the operating in system in the ways of changing settings and such for a good week.
I have 2 internal drives. One is for the OS and one is for the Data. I tried to get the Data drive to mount automatically at login using some crap I found on a linux blog. Safe to say it didn't work and now I can't mount it with the OS on the OS Drive.
It mounts from a live CD and all the data is perfectly safe. When I try to mount the drive I get this error message: "Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with: mount: only root can mount /dev/sdb1 on /media/data" What have I done wrong and how can I make it mount again? Preferably this time at login.
I have been trying to share folders from my main PC which is running Ubuntu 10.04. I have been able to figure out Samba enough to get my a couple of folders shared, but I have been unable to share any folders which are on my external harddrive. After entering the path in my smb.conf file they appear on the network but I am unable to navigate to them. When trying to navigate to them through the network folder on the pc they are actually connected to I get an "Unable to mount location: Failed to mount windows share" dialog box. On the windows pc I am trying to share with I get, "Windows cannot acces \Josh-Desktop ame of folder"
My smb.conf file looks like this:
That folders I cannot access are Music and Videos.
