OpenSUSE Hardware :: Printer Configuration - Error "Can't Locate Strict.pm In @INC"

Mar 1, 2011

I have noticed i was getting no response from my printer so i went into Yast to check if it had dis-configured itself. I keep getting this message. not sure what is going on but i get the same response for any hardware.

Programming :: Applying Configuration To Serial Port - Strict Termios

Dec 28, 2010

I'm using the serial port of a device to communicate with a hardware. (that can assume some different configurations of baud rate, data bits, etc.) Well, I can obtain that configuration, but I'm not certain in how to apply them to the serial. I'm using the struct termios to do that. I did some search, and found how to configure the baud rate and data bits. I'm doing this:

[Code]....

how I set the stop bits (1, 1.5 or 2 bits), the parity (even, odd, none, mark or space) and the flow control (hardware, software, none or xon/xoff)?

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Locate Printer Drivers In Network Printer Setup?

Oct 19, 2010

I am trying to set uamsung clx2160N as a standalone network printer on my home network. It is a printer with standalone network capability and is connected directly to my router and has a static IP number. We have a few Windows computers at home and they had no problem detecting the printer, installing the drivers and working. Unfortunately my Ubuntu computer recognises the printer and I can even access it's setup and diagnositcs through its IP number. However when I try to add it as a printer, drivers for it cannot be located. #ve tried setting it up three ways:1. Using Samsung's own setup package - finds printer and all the details it needs to work but offers no drivers2. Using Ubuntu's printer setup - recognises printer but stalls at Searching for Drivers dialog3. Trying to *** printer using CUPS - no problem finding and recognising printer, but when I come to search for the driver I get Internal Server Error.

I have of course been trying to do all of these as root. That's the limit of my knowledge reached and searches on the net aren't helping me either. The printer works fine directly connected via USB, so the drivers are on the computer somewhere. How do I get them set up to use the printer on the network?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Unable To Add USB Printer Via The YaST2 Printer Configuration Setup Tool In 11.3

Aug 26, 2010

I am unable to add my USB printer via the YaST2 Printer Configuration setup tool in openSUSE 11.3. The printer, a Dell Color Laser 1320c, was last used with openSUSE 11.2, and setup was entirely uneventful. No driver is provided by Dell, so I used the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A Linux driver. The problem: To add a print queue in 11.3, a Connection must be specified (parallel, USB, network, etc). However, the configuration wizard fails to show the presence of the USB print device.

[Code]...

This printer was working just eight weeks ago under 11.2, and 11.3 is obviously able to detect its presence and identify it correctly. I feel certain the solution is simple, but I haven't found documentation that provides the answer.

I am unable to connect to my printer wirelessly. I get this: Idle - "Connecting to printer..." The computer never connects. I can print a configuration report and get the ip address. If I type that in a webrowser, I get an error: unable to connect. Even if I plug the printer into the computer by a usb, I am unable to access the printer's ip address in the webrowser. I'm not sure how to proceed on getting the printer working wirelessly. It is a hp 6940 I use the HP Deskjet 6940 Series hpijs, 3.10.2rc1.9 driver. I have only recently been having printer problems. The printer configuration dialogue under Fedora 13 KDE will give the error message "The password may be incorrect" when I click on the new network printer button, however there was never anywhere that I entered a password. The configuration will continue after this but it will throw an error that it doesn't have permission to do what it needs later on. I have been searching for a bug but have not been able to find one. This is reproduceable on both Fedora 13 machines I am running.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: SCX-4824FN Samsung Printer Error

Dec 8, 2010

Have been successfully using a SCX-4824FN MFP for the past 2 years on Opensuse, trouble-free. Now, it no longer prints and am guessing it may have something to do with a recent Opensuse update? Error message states 'cannot create image', which I understand suggests Ghostscript problem, but Ghostscript is loaded and works fine with other HP printers attached to same PC (other forums also suggest Ghostscript may need installing).

Have downgraded to earlier version of Ghostscript but no joy.

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Locate Package Pop3d ?

May 17, 2011

I have some problems to start my dovecot server on Debian 6.0.1 I tried to install it from webmin using "un-used modules" but it was allways the same error: "E: Unable to locate package dovecot-pop3d".

When I tried to install it from console using the commands: apt-get install dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d dovecot-common - and there are no problems with dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common, but still the same error with dovecot-pop3d: "E: Unable to locate package dovecot-pop3d".

I did apt-get update ant apt-get upgrade but I'm receiving still the same error when I want to install pop3d.

It's interesting because there were no problems to install and run dovecot server on earlier versions of debian.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Canon MF4350d - Data Error On Printer

Mar 27, 2011

Have updated my system to 11.4 (Fresh install) and installed the driver from canon, and when you print the test page, it prints fine. But it now when I want to print a pdf or web page where it will say printer data error on the printer. Another thing is that it seems to print fine when the document is plain text like if I print a document from libre, it will print or when i send a print test page. Also when the document does not go through, the cnpkmoduleufr2 sits in memory and then chows 50% of cpu. In 11.3 worked beautifully so am thinking that this is a software issue.

Debian Configuration :: "Windows Printer Via Samba" Option - Add One By Selecting Add->Printer

Aug 11, 2011

I'm using an up-to-date installation of Squeeze with the default Gnome desktop and am trying to print. My knowledge of configuring printers is very limited if it even exists. Since a friend of mine is able to print from her Ubuntu computer, my plan is to copy her. Here's how she does it. She goes under System->Administration->Printing on the desktop. Then a window pops up titled "Printing" that lists various printers that are supposed to exist. It's possible to add one by selecting Add->Printer. It asks for the root password and then a new window pops up titled "New Printer" which has a subwindow called "Select Device" In my case, the "Select Device" window has the following options to choose from:

- AppSocket/HP JetDirect
- Internet Printing Protocol (ipp)
- LPD/LPR Host or Printer

In her case, she has an extra option called "Windows Printer via Samba". This is the option that she uses. The other options don't seem to work for her. I'm assuming that I just need to install some package in order to make this option magically pop up for me. Does anyone know what package this may be? I currently have the packages smbclient, samba-common and samba-common-bin installed..........

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Parallel Port Printer Configuration On 11.2 64 - "There Is No Print Queue"

Dec 13, 2009

I installed SuSE 11.2 64-bit on a new computer without any printer attached. When I read the manual for the mainboard, I discovered to my delight that it actually has a parallel port, it's just not connected. I moved the cable from an old desktop and put it into my new desktop. After enabling the port in the BIOS setup, the Hardware Information dialog in yast correctly shows that I have a HP LaserJet 1100 (/dev/lp2).

How do I configure the printer? "Printer" in yast tells me "There is no print queue". When I click "Add" yast tries to detect a printer and gives up with the message "No connection selected". I can't add a selection, however. "More connections" gives me the exact same error message. The "Connection Wizard" allows me to select "Parallel Port", but then complains about missing connections again. The cups demon is running. I don't have /dev/lp2, is that the problem?

Make it so that any regular user could make "hello" their password without complaint? Like I said, I won't necessarily do it, but I have to know if it can be done.I did some searching and found the su -c "passwd username" trick, which is working for right now (I have root access but a user account I made for a friend doesn't)... it's just irritating when it won't even let him use something like "snuh123" because it seems to think it's based on a (reversed) dictionary word. Any use of a dictionary word, even with other chars, fails

Ubuntu :: Error - Cannot Locate Drive By-dev-id HD_BLAH

Feb 4, 2010

I logged on today to find my computer with a blank black screen when I walked back into the room. It appears that Ubuntu suddenly cannot find my HD anymore. I get through the grub screen and even past the little white Ubuntu 9.10 logo, but then no login box appears and when I press a key I get the terminal, where is says something to the effect of:

Error can not locate drive by-dev-id HD_BLAH ,

my Ubuntu partitioned drive of course. Is there any way to check that that drive is even still functioning. I pretty much have permanently switched over to Ubuntu, so it would suck to lose that drive.I really need some advice on what to do...should I just attempt to boot the live CD? (by attempt I mean my computer is so damn old that the CD and DVD drives are pretty much dead, and I'd be lucky to read a CD correctly because of this).
