All I do is connect my Palm to the usb port, and it starts a reset loop. It resets, gets booted, and crashes to reset again. What's up with this? BTW, this same palm worked with gnome pilot on Debian and Vector installs, and works currently with an XP install. But on my 11.2 suse, it goes crazy.

I've been trying to get my palm TX to sync with kubuntu 8.10. Quickly after I place the palm on the cradle I get a warning msg that I've attached below. I did follow some directions at one point where it required me to install visor. It had sync'd a few times, but then it started giving me these errors. Eventually I tried to delete the device, etc.
The msg:
Failed to connect using device 'Cradle', on port 'usb:'.
Check your confirguration, as you requested new-style libusb
'usb:' syncing, but have the old-style 'visor' kernel module loaded.

When I connect my Treo 650 with a USB cable it works sometimes and not others. A little investigation showed
that it always works when I see the Palm device listed in the output of lsusb. While trying to diagnose why it appears sometimes and not others, I discovered that it sometimes appears in /proc/bus/usb/devices and not

I've tried running kudzu (the Red Hat hardware discovery tool) and killing and restarting udevd.
My old Creative Zen MP3 player has just gone titsup - it's gone into recovery mode and attempts to reload the firmware come up with device not connected errors (even under Windoze XP) So I'm looking around for a replacement and the Cowon D2 looks good as it takes SD cards like the zen (and I'd just bought 2 new 8Gb cards). The Zen used mtpfs which worked under linux but not well an I believe the D2 just connects as USB memory. Anyone out there using a Cowon D2 under Linux?

I get to this point, setting up everything (I can only do paravirtualization) Then the DVD spins for a little while and after that I am returned this error message "device 0 vif could not be connected opensuse....."
I tried a bunch of different settings in the previous screen and I always end up with this error I googled around and it seem to be a problem in different distros but I could not spot a solution at all
I have a Palm TX. I used to sync it with kontact through kpilot. Now I have to use jpilot, but I prefer kontact because I have all the rest of information (mail, etc) there.

If by any mean I send to de device anything else than the predefined strings, stated by the manufacturer, the device ceases to respond. The only way I found its to turn off and then turn on the thing again. Which its very impractical. Its there any way to "reset de UART chip on the device" or send some string based on the RS232 standard that clean the device buffer?

The server is a Dell R710 with CentOS 5.4 X86_64 installed. I suspect it's the virtual CD device of the iDrac6 but not sure. How Can I identify which USB device triggering these warning? On karmic the audio input device would constantly reset to muted. On lucid, it keeps resetting it to the microphone jack at the back of the computer (While I have a webcam up and running that it knows is what I use. How can I get it to remember my audio input? One more functionality issue till bingo. How can I give a window "Widget" status: I want it not to minimize when I hit ctrl alt D (Like conky and other widgets).

I have created a "10-pilot.rules " file in /etc/udev/rules.d containing:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded from 10.3 to 11.2 (32 bit). On my 10.3 system I was able to sync my Palm Treo, plug in cameras and they'd pop us as filesystems etc. Now, although my printer, and ipod are recognised, anything else I plug in isn't.
* When I plug my camera in and turn it on, nothing happens
* When I try to sync my Palm Treo, it seems that the /dev/pilot device isn't created by kpilot.
I am trying to write a script to turn my HTPC off automatically and turn it back on again at a specified interval.
I've got the turn on off bit sorted using /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm but I want the script to not turn the machine off if say something is downloading, I am currently watching something etc and i dont think I will have any trouble with that.
But what I would really like to be able to do is tell if my TV is currently on. I dont think anything x11 related would work here and this may not even be possible. Does Ubuntu "know" if it's display device is powered on or not? if so can I interrogate this somehow?
I have a device (not a pc) connected to my pc via ethernet, it dose not show up in networks, I was hoping there was a way of scanning to detect for it, is there a way of seeing content of it is basically what I'm asking?

I got a sort of usb connected device(not an external enclosure) so i can connect a sata hard drive into a machine that only has ide connections but the drive is not mounting. I am not very good at mounting slave hard drives anyway ,,,,never been able to get one happening without help. I am wanting to read this drive as i killed another desktop machine(i think the mb) and i need the data off the hard drive. The drive is shown in a directory and in the media directory. Can't think of what else sorry as i am so tired from testing everything out of the machine that i killed.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running 9.10 latest updates (as far as I know) My problem is with my usb connections.I cant connect different usb devices to the same usb ports if a device had been previously connected to it. IE: I have to keep my camera connected to one particular port. If I disconnect it and connect anything to it, it cant be seen. It doesnt matter if I reboot. Is there a way to clear out any memory that stores the usb port assignments?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 4 Dell R200's with Seagate 2x250Gb drives running software raid on CentOS 5.2 kernal 2.6.18-92.1.13.el5. They all get these errors 5-10 times a day and when the errors occure the servers apear to freeze and drop all network connections, very frustrating. I've updated to smartmontools 1:5.38-2.el5 and confirmed with Seagate that I have the latest drive firmware, and am now at a loss as to how to fix this. All of the systems report the problem only on sda not sdb.

However when the app tries to connect it always gets connection refused at gatt_connect.
gatttool behaves the same way, and hcidump does not show any connection attempts, implying no connection between gatttool and the device, although it is specified on the command line.
Finally although the bluetoothd is running bluetoothctl also shows no default controller found. I had edited /etc/bluetooth/uart.conf, adding an hciattach entry for the device but that changed nothing when restarting the bluetoothd. Entering a garbage entry into that file does not produce any errors, so I am not sure it is even being read.
Also systemctl|grep bluetooth shows :-

Is the uart.conf file still used([URL] .... would suggest yes) and if so is the format a full hciattach command or merely the hciattach parameters?
I need a bash script to run ARPON for the connected network device, eth1 or eth2. (ethernet or wireless)
Arpon has an option (-o) to select the network automatically, but it only works for ethernet, hence i need this script. I've also tried running arpon for ethernet and wireless at the same time, but the arpon process running the inactive device will consume all of my CPU.
So, basically i need a script to find which device is connected, eth1 or eth2 and then to run arpon -d -i <device connected> (or something like that).
Is there an easy way to do this? code...

Windows computer continually generates images (AutoGrabnnn). All downstream analysis on linux computer. I need analog of rsync bringing files over as they arise. rdesktop seems to be the approach. Is this already described somewhere to bypass much trial-and-error?

Everything is working fine now. However, something that confused me is that whenever I tried to ping the printer _before_ I got it working, it would fail with a _different_ IP address. That is, the command 'ping x.y.z.3' would fail with a message saying it was unable to contact 'x.y.z.2'
Now I am looking at my router - for something unrelated - and I've noticed that rogue IP address shows up in the list of connected devices. It has a MAC address but for the device name it lists "<unknown>". Should I be concerned about this? how to figure out what this device is?
I connected Terratec H7 DVB-T/DVB-C into ubuntu kernal version 2.6.38.2. How to make this device up and running. I tried installing v4l-dvb but it gave lot of compilation errors. Also i would like to know linux has this device support.
