View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on a Virtual Machine. Would like to install drivers for Lexmark X6650. I download filelexmark-08z-series-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.shWhen I double-click, there is an option to run in terminal. I run in terminal. Then it asks for administrator password. I enter administrator passwordIt says "Wrong Password"How can this be a wrong password.A) I created the passwordB) used this password for other administrative tasksThis must be a problem with Lexmark! Please tell me how to manually install the lexmark drivers from my terminal, i.e. once I navigate to the directory, what command should I type in?

View 5 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.04 and have a problem with loading the Linux printer drivers for my new Lexmark printer. When I try to load up the printer driver downloaded from the Lexmark site I am asked to enter a root administrator password, but when I enter the password I used to setup the OS it will not accept it. I have reviewed the "sudo" terminal password info, but as I am a newbie I was concerned about wrecking the installation.

Having consulted SDB:Installing a Printer - openSUSE I ran lpinfo -l -m | grep HL-3040CN as su... evidently this model is not supported. The Brother site Brother Solutions Center : Brother Driver for Linux Distributions seems to suggest maybe there is hope. I am relatively new to Linux.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since installing 11.3, my Samsung CLX-3175 laser mfp no longer prints. It worked fine under 11.2 using the Samsung proprietary unified driver. That driver no longer seems to work under 11.3. The print job never leaves the queue and the printer must be rebooted (it is a networked printer) to be recognized by the operating system after deleting the job. Here is the relevant error printout from the cups error log from an attempt to print the test printer job:

I'm a new opensuse user, and I've got a lexmark z517 colour printer, that works correctly on my ubuntu, but it was a tough job to make it work on opensuse, because of the rarely support of this printer, but I found some howto-s, and with a little correction, I managed to install the driver, I share my solution to help people with this printer. This is it: How to install Lexmark Z517 printer on openSuse 11.1
The driver for lexmark z600 should be good for z517 also, so I searched for driver for z600. I found a little manual at The Lexmark Z605 printer and SuSE 9.3, a little HOWTO, but it didn't work with my system. So we need a little makeup. Before you enter the method, you should install libstdc++ from the package manager, because the printer driver will miss it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a low cost mono laser printer that just works under Ubuntu. I know that a general 'rule of thumb' is go with HP, but that doesn't seem to be the case with their low-end mono printers, as they use the XQX Stream Protocol instead of Postscript. The more expensive HP printers appear to work because they use Postscript.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Lucid 10.04 and don't plan to change until support is dropped. I am looking to buy a multifunction monochromatic laser printer.
I was considering Samsung SCX-4828FN or HP LaserJet M1522NF. Both have network cards and support for Linux, but I am a little leery of the Samsung's support in Lucid. Does anyone have this printer? It seems to me a better choice if it works, because the toner is quite a bit more economical and I print quite a a lot.
My only requirements are all-in-one scanner/printer, economical, network card, proven to work.
I am using slackware 13 and cups is working OK. i installed the printer HP laser jet 1018 USB printer through localhost:631. it seems installed correctly but when i send test print there is no output.2nd thing i want to share that printer to some other windows machine on network so they can also use that printer

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found several people who have had problems with Canon all-in-one laser printers. I had huge problems when I first set mine up because it wasn't in Synaptic yet. There are threads on the forum addressing specific printers, but since the driver wasn't officially supported for very long I think lots of folks have given up the fight. My thought is that anyone who successfully installed a Canon laser should be able to post to this thread, and/or a link to threads on this or other forums which they found helpful in getting it to work.
The driver as it is shown in Ubuntu 10.10 is cndrvcups-ufr2-uk, and cndrvcups-common. I have a Canon ImageClass MF8050CN color networked laser which works perfectly with this driver. It supports the networking, although it takes a couple minutes to populate the list of printers when you're setting up. I have not tried the USB port since I have no use for that type of configuration. I have not tried scanning to the computer, only to the USB stick, which works fine.
I just bought a usb logitech LS1 laser mouse, plugged it in restarted ubuntu 10.10 and its not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora 11 and am trying to install Brother HL-2170W Wireless laser printer. I installed it and used CPUS but cannot print. SELinux is enabled. On Brothers site there is an FAQ about SELinux and CUPS. [URL] I followed these instructions but still cannot print. Jobs get queued. Under Printer properties -> Policies, there is an Enabled checked. For some reason when I check this Enabled box and click Apply, the changes do not take effect. Then Enabled checkbox gets uncheck again.
I cannot even print a test page as its status shows Pending.
