Debian :: Logitech Trackball Middle Mouse Is Not Working Anymore?

Feb 21, 2011

the Squeeze uprgade I also lost the middle mouse functionaly of my Logitech Marble Mouse. I do not remember how I set it up to be honest. I am not sure if it was by default middle was mouse was "pressing 2 buttons on eachside at the same time" or I did set up manually using Xmod or similar tool. I might have even set up in the hal settings. The reason I do not remember exactly is that I used multiple tuts and places to set this up long time ago and now that the functionality is gone I am kind of confused about how to go ahead about it.

Debian Hardware :: Logitech Wireless Mouse Not Working On 64 Bit Jessie

Sep 22, 2013

I have a couple of Logitech wireless mice (M325) with USB Unifying receivers, one for a couple of netbooks (Asus & HP) and one for my old desktop. These have been working very nicely

under 32 bit OSs :-

Windows XP

Debian testing (Wheezy & Jessie)

I now have a new 64 bit desktop (Intel i5) and the Logitech mouse

DOES work with :-

The Bios
Windows 7

But it does NOT work with :-

Debian Jessie

I have found an old mechanical Sun 3 button mouse (USB), which has got me
working to some extent, but does remind me why I got an optical wireless mouse!

My old 32 bit desktop reports :-

Code: Select all$ uname -a
Linux copper 3.10-2-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.10.7-1 (2013-08-17) i686 GNU/Linux

Code: Select all$ lsmod | grep hid
hid_logitech_dj        13054  0
usbhid                 36040  0
hid                    64702  2 usbhid,hid_logitech_dj
usbcore               110348  4 uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd,ehci_pci,usbhid

[Code]....

I need to get the comparative info off the new desktop, but I am currently hampered by the old mouse and the bug, whereby when I asked for the LXDE desktop I also got Gnome installed, and Lightdm ignores my request to start LXDE and dumps me in Gnome!!

The main differences that I have found was in the modules where the 32 bit one uses uhci_hcd, while the 64 bit one uses xhci_hcd. The dmesg section is like the above, finding the Unifying device, but is missing the last line where djdevice finds the mouse..

Ubuntu Installation :: Unmitigated Disaster - Logitech Cordless Keyboard Is Not Working

Jun 28, 2011

I have been a keen user of Ubuntu since version 7.something. In that time I have updated, upgraded, or done clean installs of each new versions usually about 2 months after the release to enable small bugs to iron out. There have always been minor issues usually easily rectified via this forum. However the 11.04 release is the worst I have ever come across almost forcing me back to winblows. So what is my gripe. -- 7 hours downloading and upgrading -- to obtain a system that does nothing -- nada. zip. it booted came to the desktop and nothing, Unity doesn't respond, no applications open, and the shutdown didn't work.

So -- downloaded the ISO this morning did a clean install and eagerly went into my new system. First issue -- my logitech cordless keyboard is not working, never had an issue before. so plug in a USB one, which is what I am using now. Go to the 'system settings' (took me a while to find where they had gone) but couldn't find anything in the keyboard section to allow me to configure a cordless keyboard. Failure 1

Open banshee and ask it to load the music library. It does, then click for a file to play and --- no sound! so choose another track just in case and banshee crashes, and the icon disappears from the unity bar. Failure 2 As usual I have an Nvidea graphics card so one of the first things is to install the proprietary driver. Never had an issue before. this time it loaded (apparently) and then I do the restart to enable it, and when I get back in there is no top bar, the Unity bar sits there and won't slide in and out, and no applications will respond. BIG failure 3

Re boot into recovery mode and opt for safe graphics mode. System re boots - Top bar now appears, Unity remains inoperative, and when I click the shutdown icon to get to system settings --- crash and burn system shuts down.-- BIG failure 4 Re boot into recovery mode (again) run "fix broken packages" DPKG runs for a while replacing and upgrading hundreds of packages. When finished reboot -- same issue desktop stuffed! Currently working off the live CD. To the developers -- maybe you are pushing ahead too quickly now. this sort of overall failure will lose more users than gain. I don't usually complain but as my title says for me Natty is an unmitigated disaster.

Hardware :: Logitech M215 Wireless Mouse And Ubuntu

Apr 27, 2010

I just purchased this mouse today. The box brags that one can insert the include AA battery, put the little remote in a USB port, turn the mouse, on, and away you go.

However, it doesn't work. I've gone through the whole troubleshooting guide, which generally consists of silly questions such as "Is the mouse on?"

My previous mouse was a logitech, but it was not wireless. It worked fine. Are there any restricted extras in order to get this beauty up and running? Or should I return it and invest in a more Linux-friendly mouse?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitech Marble Mouse USB Scrollwheel Emulation On 11.2?

Jan 7, 2010

After upgrading from OS11.1 to 11.2 I am annoyed by the fact that no configuration options exist any more to customize for my mouse. This is a 2-button trackball very ergonomic for people. that are prone to have RSI problems like me, a real solution.

Before in 11.1 I could use Yast to set up X that it would emulate a scrollwheel with the right button. Unfortunately now with 11.2 all has to be recognised automatically and they simply threw out the mouse configuration in Yast, leaving us with some useless console mouse configuration. Not every upgrade means an improvement, which seems very much like ....

Could somebody help me or give me pointers what is the procedure to recover this emulated scrollwheel functionality? I know it has to do with xorg.conf, but I don't have that file and without this good start it will be difficult for me to get anywhere. How is this file re-created?

Fedora Hardware :: Asus A53S Elantech Touchpad Recognized As PS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse

Aug 23, 2011

i cant get this right for some reason. i switched from ubuntu to fedora. in ubuntu i had the same issue with the touchpad, but there i found a fix which worked with ubuntu, but not with fedora.[URL]... the problem in fedora is that i dont have any psmouse.ko module in /lib/modules/2.6.39.4/kernel/drivers/input/mouse so the patch cant really be applied so i get an error, saying there is no psmouse

i found a fix, but since my knowledge with linux is limited i didnt get it right. "I spent some time trying to get this working (and one will find other threads here, on the Fedora list, etc, where I was trying to get help), but the problem, in the end, is that Fedora doesn't install the PS/2 mouse driver as a module, but builds it into the kernel. So the solution was to recompile the kernel using the changed files from System 76's repo.

This is not nearly as difficult as it sounds. The process described in the Fedora docs, under Building a Custom Kernel, is easy enough to follow. In my case, it was even easier. I unpacked the kernel source by following the steps down through "Prepare the Kernel Source Tree" and then copied the source for the new "module" into drivers/input/mouse, replacing just the elantech.h and elantech.c files. I don't really care about getting an RPM, so I just built the kernel"[URL]..
