OpenSUSE Hardware :: Couldn't Reference Dri2 Back Buffer

what the following means and what I can do, if possible, to fix it:

Couldn't reference dri2 back buffer handle 0x00000002: No such file or directory
Segmentation fault I know what segmentation fault is, but the rest is a mystery to me. This is on OpenSuse 11.3, 64bit.
I get it from some games I installed for the kids to play, but obviously they can't until I've managed to fix that. It happens in Ppracer and Super Maryo Chronicles, and the games worked fine in 11.2. Same graphics card too, and the same xorg.conf file. DRI is enabled in that config-file.
The gfx-card works fine otherwise, and it's an Intel G33 GPU. I do get some lock-ups now and then, but I'm not sure if it's the gfx-card/driver or something else.

I have been developing some code which I have been testing an another i386 system. However I have been getting some weird data received on a socket I am communicating with some 3rd party hardware, I have opened a socket to read data on the hardware's telnet port. The data being read is as expected and my code appears to function correctly.
However I have now began testing the code on a target platform, this platform is of a better spec than my development system. When I read data from the socket using recv(), all the expected data has not been read.A chunk of data from the beginning is missing and a portion of data that would be at the end is now at the beginning of the buffer. I'll try and illustrate this below.

I installed Mangler and one of its requirements was pulse-audio. I installed pulse-audio everything worked great except i couldn't get sound out of wow if i started mangler first and vice-versa. I then found a version of Mangler that worked with alsa. So i uninstalled mangler and pulse-audio, installed mangler-alsa. Everything works great now. The problem is when i uninstalled Pulse-audio i lost all my sliders in Yast > Hardware > Sound > other > volume. The only thing that shows up is master volume > Test. My sound works great just can't adjust anything. How do i get my sliders back. I would like some advice before i screw something up. (lol) My Sound card is according to sound configuration SBx00 Azalia(Intel HDA) - Driver snd-hda-intel.Opensuse 11.2 KDE 4.3.5

Is this a beta version or something? I installed this version because it came as a live cd coupled with emc2 for cnc machining. I cannot get anything to work correctly. I tried to install Mozilla thunderbird using the application manager and it is very slow. It takes forever for the menus to open. or emails and is virtually unusable. I tried to use the startup manager and it killed my grub bootloader so I needed to reinstall. I couldnt successfully use the grub2 console prompt to log back into linux even though I ollwed several tutorials for this. I tried to install the flash player plugin and it kept telling me still to install it before I could watch flash videos even though I had installed it 3 or 4 times. I just tried to install evolution mail and it cannot log into my gmail account. I tried to install swift dove which is a faster version of thunderbird and it says it is starting but then never does. I am reasonably sure I should hang in there as I have heard Ubuntu is very good as an os.

When I am burning iso with k3b its slow, buffer is underrunning. Burning under root account is fine, no buffer underruns. I think this is permission problem....

create a VM here with virsh. I've managed to create the XML file and got it to work properly, however running it is the problem. i have noticed that if vista is not the active partition, hybernate does not work. it just goes black and then back to the user icon screen to log back in. another "slight" problem was that i was not able to apply a service pack. after restoring vistas dominance i was able to install the pack. is there any other work arounds for hybernate? even though you might not be interested in cleaning up after microsoft.

This is an example of the error I receive when trying to do an update via YaST, YaST2, or zypper. Basically, curl is broken. With out it functioning normally, I can't use openSUSE's update mechanism to fix my system. Whenever I run glxgears or glxinfo from an ssh or vnc session, I get "Error: couldn't get an RGB, double-buffered visual". I can run glx stuff fine on the console under KDE, but that's not practical for the intended users. I've tried updating drivers (it's a Dell R610 w/ Matrox G200ew videa), firmware, rpms, etc., even running ssh with -X or -Y, but to no avail.

I've choice English as "primary language" in language configuration in Yast, and have also installed Chinese as secondary language.In most programs Chinese displays normally, like Evolution, Firefox, Dolphin, but in VLC media player and some other applications, Chinese couldn't be displayed properly.

After installing madwifi, I get this error message at login
couldn't update ICEauthority/home/name/ICEaithority.
Now I don't have to login i.e. enter my password. It just goes to a black screen and I get this error, which I close out and than I am logged into my desktop which seems to be fine.

I was having a problem with cairo dock, asked on the board how to resolve was told to reinstall the visual driver for my monitor since I have an ati vid card since with the updated kernal u have to reinstall those drivers(didn't know that, I'm new to opensuse). I thought I did that before so I completely uninstalled it so I could then do a fresh reinstall but I wasn't paying attention and my laptop was unplugged for a while. I stepped away while the install was going on and my laptop died.
I tried plugging it in but had to restart my laptop when I did I got the command line rows and when I tried to start GDM it wouldn't start, I did so as SU. Attempted to connect to the internet via networkmanager and couldn't get wifi or wired to work. Anyway I can access my desktop visually just so I can start yast and install the driver or will I have to reinstall 11.2 or use the cd to repair? If so how do I use the cd to repair?

I have an HP OfficeJet 5610v installed on my system, and cups can print the test page. I can also get the test page to print via [URL] which appears to be printed under the anonymous user. Now if I attempt to print the test page via the printer control panel from windows, I get the following sets of error:

CUPS is showing that the "user" is my XP login name so I added that user to Linux and even added that account to the "lp" group and still get the above errors.

I'm often playing videos from my external hard disk, and, well, it has issues. It'll often spin down and it often takes 5-10 seconds to spin back up in order to keep reading files. This is really terrible for video playback, as it'll often completely hang until the drive spins back up. Is there a way that I can tell VLC to set a larger buffer to at least give me more buffer into the future so the drive will have time to spin up when the buffer runs out?

I have 3 pc's - Carol running Fedora 12, Vince running Fedora 12 and blue running Fedora 13. I am trying to use NFS to share the files. I can't seem to figure out how to reference the PC's. Attempts to mount the shares exported using /etc/exports either can't find the node if I use Vince:/... If I use Vince.localdomain:/.. it times out. I tried to use telnet blue and got telnet: blue: Name or service not known blue: Unknown host Tried telnet blue.localdoamin and got Trying 208.68.139.89...
blue's IP is 192.168.1.104 I was hoping I could use names and not explicit IP addresses as those might change if the Linksys router has to reboot or something.

I am having a Oracle server installed on Linux server. I want to clear the buffers after a certain time interval. I use the following command for the same.
echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
Can I have a script which will execute the above script after certain time interval OR a script which will execute the above command when certain memory size is reached.
