I'm getting this error trying to install Live GNOME 32bit v11.3 or 11.4 build 11:
Code: Couldn't find Live image configuration file
I'm installing from a USB stick. I can install v11.2 the same way no problem. USB stick created using SUSE Studio Image Writer and Win32DiskImager give same results.
This is an example of the error I receive when trying to do an update via YaST, YaST2, or zypper. Basically, curl is broken. With out it functioning normally, I can't use openSUSE's update mechanism to fix my system. Need to find a way to manually fix / upgrade curl. There was an error in the repository initialization.'Updates-for-openSUSE-11.4-11.4-0': [|] Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)History:

I've just upgraded to openSUSE 11.4 and I have 2 small problems.
1) I can't find fetchmsttffonts package, so I'm missing some fonts I was using
2) Is there a way how to change progress bar colors? I'm getting some poisonous light green and it's not very eye pleasing (I think that when I was doing same upgrade in virtual machine there where dark green similar to 11.3)
when I am trying to install a RPM package I get the following error: failed to install file: [PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.w29lVZ] Repository already exists It tried to install DBVisualizer and Adobe Reader 9 and get the same error. Just the directory is different. How do I solve this? I tried to delete the mentioned directories but I can't find them on the file system.
I have ubuntu intrepid installed in one of the amazon servers , when i try to install any software using apt-get i used to get the following error.Code: E: Couldn't find package E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I'm currently on opensuse 11.1 and I was looking at the upgrade to 11.2 because it has the DeviceKit package I was wanting But being as the 11.2 uses the ext4 instead of ext3 it may be just a little more than I would like can I, instead, just install the package from the 11.2 into my 11.1 system or is that ext4/ext3 thing gonna hork that up ?just kinda liking the whole " my system works just fine " thing and not really wanting to reload the box..
I've upgraded kernel 2.6.27.48-0.2-default to 2.6.27.54-0.1.1 on openSUSE 11.1. Before I tried to upgrade to 2.6.27.48-0.3-default where I encountered the same issue. After reboot it can not find the modules for 2.6.27.48-0.2-default which puzzled me to no end. Now I have found that the /boot which is on separate partition of ext2 type is not mounted. The mount command does not recognize ext2 and xfs anymore.
Clearly the initrd does not have the right modules. Since this is standard zypper up process I would expect this to work without issues since it has worked until the 2.6.27.48-0.2-default kernel without issues. Has something changed with the last 2 kernel versions that requires some extra actions from me and if so what do I have to do.
My conky weather doesnt show any thing and I already got my Partner ID , License Key and Location ID and I tried to run the command below to install ConkyForecast: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install conkyforecast

I upgraded to OpenSuse 11.4, and I am getting the following error message on boot:fsck.ext3 -a -c0 /dev/sdb2Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdb2The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid andreally contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then superblock is corrupt and might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
I was trying to build an RPM today and the compilation errored out because the file glibconfig.h couldn't be found. I managed to track it down to the package glib2-devel.The problem is that I couldn't find a way to do this via zypper. In Mandriva I would've just done 'urpmf glibconfig.h' and it would've told me that it's provided by the package glib2-devel.
Is there equivalent functionality in zypper? (glibconfig.h is an easy pick as being related to glib, but some header file names might be more obscure for example)
I am trying desperatly to install boxee onto my pc Boxee - Watch Movies, TV Shows and clips from the Internet on your TV.without success.I have downloaded the source code from the site and have ran
./bootstrap ./configure
The ./configure last few lines = checking for boost/shared_ptr.hpp... yes checking for main in -lGL... no configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the README for your platform.
I'm not sure what this lGL is referring to. The readme states that I need the below to run the configure, though that doesn't say lGL either?
I am trying to install gcc4.1.1 upon my opensuse machine which already has gcc 4.5 installed but I want an earlier version.
1) I downloaded gcc-4.1.1.tar.bz2 2) Extracted the contents 3) When I tried to run the command "./configure" on terminal its giving error "configure: error: can not find sources in . or ..". However I can see the configure file in the directory. Below are the files present in directory.
Upgraded from 11.1 to 11.2 using GUI (YaST and Wagon)
Machine stops on boot and says:
fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. The root file system is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write do: bash# mount -n -o remount, rw /
Attention: Only CONTROL-D will reboot the system in this maintenance mode. shutdown or reboot will not work.

I get following error during automatic patch upgrade of my SuSE 11.2 to latest path revision. I assume it is due to the KDE 4.3.5 Update part of the patch set: compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 requires libkdecorations.so.4()(64 bit) but there are no providers. The package manager suggest to replace compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 with kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.x86_64 but I don't want to loose compiz-kde. which repository I must add to resolve the dependency.
I am trying to run i386 in gcc_test-suite using dejagnu runtest and it fails with error given below. I can see that gcc-dg.exp is in folder gcc-4.6-20100911/gcc/testsuite/lib, but runtest is not searching in this folder.
how to resolve this issue and run only i386 tests.
$ cd /gcc-4.6-20100911/gcc/testsuite/gcc.target $ runtest -a -tool i386 -verbose .... .... Looking for library file /usr/local/share/dejagnu/lib/gcc-dg.exp
How can I burn the openSUSE 11.3 ISO DVD file to multiple CDROMs to upgrade a legacy notebook (Sony Vaio PCG-FXA32) running 11.1 that has only a CDROM drive? I have the 11.3 ISO on a DVD disk.
I have just upgraded from 11.1 to 11.4. When I boot up, I get a command line, but when I do 'startx', I get 'Fatal server error: no screens found'. I have been looking for a solution and tried 'Xorg -configure' but this gives:
Code: Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vboxvideo_drv.so: undefined symbol: resVgaShared
i have installed this Ubuntu in virtual-box running in windows xp. my INTERNET connection is working fine but i m using proxy for that. my problem is that when i want to install something through sudo apt-get install xxxx(whatever) it gives error "Couldn't find package".
Example: #sudo apt-get install wine Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package wine
I am not able to install linux key logger on my ubuntu 10.04 is my os this is the result that i got user36@lib-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install lkl Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package lkl user36@lib-desktop:~$
I'm currently running 11.3 and decided I'd try upgrading to 11.4 following the instructions here: SDB:System upgrade - openSUSEUnfortunately, my attempts are defeated at the point of trying to refresh the new repos; I get the following message (for the oss repo, in this case):
With 11.4 replaced by 11.3 in the repo url, it refreshes just fine. The only repository that works when I change 11.3 to 11.4 is the Packman repo. I'm not really sure why the connection fails for 11.4 but not 11.3!
Further info: I have an old router with no IPv6 support, but have IPv6 disabled system-wide. I can enter the url for the repositories into firefox and they come up just fine - it's only with zypper/YaST that I get the above error message.I also tried upgrading using the network CD but ran into the same sort of problem. In this case it may be because the CD installer doesn't disable IPv6. (I didn't want to download the DVD at my connection speed, and the KDE live CD is not listed as suitable for upgrade).
I was about to do upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4.I was following the guide I found in opensuse's website. I was to the point where I had to disable all 11.3 repositories and add the 11.4 at that point I forgot to change my nvidia repository ( I have a g210m graphic card).
thus after the upgrade the X could not start at all. I think this was because Yast could not find the nvidia driver.
Using text mode YaSt2 I added the nvidia driver but after restart I can not see and X running. I receive an error message that the current kernel can not be loaded!!!
I also checked in command line if there is something like Sax2.. but I couldnot find anything.
Now I don't have to login i.e. enter my password. It just goes to a black screen and I get this error, which I close out and than I am logged into my desktop which seems to be fine.
