Every time I get an email, I receive a couple of notifications for that email and the notification sound plays twice as well. If I disable the notifications for gmail plasmoid, I don't get any notifications at all - which means that the double notifications are really triggered by gmail plasmoid.
openSUSE 11.4 64 bitsI have "sensors" package installed and configured with sensors-detect.The cpu temperature monitor plasmoid worked on kde 4.6.0 without problems but after installing 4.6.2 the monitor do not show any info.By running "sensor" from konsole I can see the temperature for both processors so it seems to be something related with the kde update
I had to reload my openSuSE 11.1 and reloaded KDE 4.3.4 from KDE Repositories and did an unconditional update on KDE Core and Community to ensure I got all the current versions back.
I am now having an issue with at least two plasmoids that is regularly used. When I attempt to add them to the desktop, I get the message "component not found". This happens to at least these two, yasp and yawp for system status and weather. It may happen to others, I haven't tried.
They are both loaded and both are present in /usr/share/kde4/services. I removed them using YaST, then rebooted, then re-added them, then rebooted and still get the same result, component not found.
I have a problem whit this plasmoid. If I add this plasmoid while amarok runs, It works correctly. But if I close Amarok e then I run it again, plasmoid doesn't work.
I'm just curious as to where I can find an Eye Dropper plasmoid for my KDE 4.4 Desktop. I'm pretty sure I had one installed and working a few weeks ago before I reinstalled, but I can't seem to find one anywhere.
So, do any of you have a link or anything to where I can find an Eye Dropper / Color Chooser plasmoid? It doesn't actually have to be a plasmoid, I just need one that isn't tied to a specific application.
I had some difficulty getting Plasmoid to work on to connect to a WPA2-Enterprise Network. The Cert file is in DER format which is something like this "XXXX.cer" After I filed a bug report I got a respond to try the updated Plasmoid from this Repo:
Index of /repositories/KDE:/UpdatedApps/openSUSE_11.4 To use it you have to first install your certificate in openssl using terminal. First copy the certificate into the ssl directory (In OpenSUSE it is /etc/ssl/certs/)
1) sudo cp path_to_file /etc/ssl/certs/Then install it (If you don't do this it will fail) Source:http://gagravarr.org/writing/openssl...tml#Installing
3)Then after that when using Plasmoid to connect check the box use system certificate.
It should work like it worked for me but I still think certificate handling needs a lot of improvement.Pointing the cert directly from plasmoid does not work.
I received an update yesterday and now my analog clock plasmoid is no longer functional. It's strange too because when I change a setting in the plasmoid, it'll magically come to life. I ran plasma-desktop in terminal to catch an error output, but nothing came up.
Useful info: Running KDE 4.4.0 release 223 Opensuse 11.2
After digging around in vain in my local .kde4 I am unable to find where the RSSNow plasmoid stores the feeds. It apparently wants to keep them secret forever.
(Man - Plasmoids are okay, but the utter lack of documentation for them makes them far less useful than then could be.)
I have open phoenix SL viewer and I get nagging notification who is on/offline and when I recieve a message. When I minimize it or change virtual desktop, I really dont want to see any notification from this application as it is distracting me.I first tried to find setting in phoenix but I couldnt find any. Notification widget cannot supress it completey, so I went to advanced application settings, but I couldnt find it there either. Is there a way to say to KDE that I dont want any notifications recieved from that application?
since i put suse 11.4 (kde 4) on my new laptop there has been something really bugging me. Now, when i transfer files (e.g. from computer to USB HDD) no window pops up, it just runs in the background and uses the notification manager thingy instead. i much preferred having a small pop-up window instead. any ideas on how to get it back like this?
Is it possible to set how quickly the notifications in KDE4's notifications widget will disappear? They stick around a couple of seconds too long for my taste.
I am trying to set up sound notifications for my wireless internet because my router is old and glitchy (plus it would be pretty cool to hear Homer Simpson get exited about me connecting to the internet). The only notification that does not work is the sound option. I can point the network manager to the .wav file but it will not play, even when I press the little play/test button.
I don't like the 'hide' array on the system tray. I never hide my icons there. There is an icon-by-icon setting to hide/show but this is a little laborious. However, there currently doesn't seem to be an easy way to show all icons, but, at the same, hide pop-up notifications after a short delay. How to implement this? OpenSUSE 11.3 KDE 4 repos (STABLE): packman, oss, non-oss, updates, network, security
About two weeks ago I enabled KDE factory repo to get the latest KDE 4.4. Everything was fine until a recent update, which caused sound working only in some applications. Sound now works when tried in System Settings and Yast->Sound, but it does not work in Firefox, VLC, Skype, and so on.
My laptop's been locking up in Linux (Ubuntu, Backtrack, Puppy) periodically for a while now. When it locked up, it was always immune to the magic of SysRq, which I thought might indicate a hardware problem. It became so bad that I had to stop using the laptop.
Today, when I turned it on and tried to boot into Fedora 12, I got the following error (just once, it just locked up at various points during the splash screen after this once):
double fault: 0000 [#1] SMP last sysfs file: CPU 0 odules linked in: Pid: 1, co m: swapper Not ta nted 2.6.32.11-99.fc 2.x86_64 #VGN-T 250N RIP: 0010:[<ff
All the seemingly missing letters were really missing, not my typos.
As you can see, kernel version is 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64 and my laptop is a Sony Vaio TZ 250N (Core 2 Duo ULV 1.2GHZ). Note that with the other remaining kernels from the updates, nothing ever happened other than the locking up. The core temperatures hover pretty high, about 55-60C peak but this is still below the critical temp. Memtest came up clean when the problem first started happening.
use any browser and go to gmail. i can't get gmail to load. if i browse on videos, links to videos don't work. they appear to be taking a long time to buffer, then a message appears saying to try again. sometimes, links on google search pages are all dead. yahoo mail loads as far as logging me in, then i get a page with all dead links.
i'm using a laptop at several locations that have free public wifi. at some places, everything works perfectly normally. at other places, google and yahoo are almost useless. the "bad" places work just fine under ms windows.
so i figure it's a networking/handshaking issue, but that's all i can figure. i need help to troubleshoot it further. if it's happening to me, it has to be happening to other people, and i consider it a major hassle.
My college internet providers shifted to a different setting.. defined in the changing lan proxy settings on the user end. I.e.ip - 192.168.0.200 and port to 3000. This to reduce misuse of the net connection ..The thing is, since then, every other website is working, except GMail. It isnt blocked, the Nebero page shows up for blocked sites. When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.
My sound was working fine except I couldn't get system sounds (notifications) to work. So I decided to install pulseaudio to see if it would fix it. Now I get system sounds and my other sounds, but now in most things (such as firefox and warcraft 3) the sound is choppy. I've tried SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE and a couple other things I've googled but it's not working for me. I'd like to be able to fix it or at least go back to the way it was.
I have been trying to configure the mailcheck in gkrellm to check and notify for new mail on my gmail account. I have activated pop of course...
These are the pop info taken from gmail:
Quote:
Server for incoming mail (IMAP) - needs SSL: imap.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 993 Server outgoing mail (SMTP) - needs TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use verification) Use verifiering: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes(some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587
As far as I know, GNOME can't act like MS or OSX when we wan't to rename a file..you know, when you slightly re click the file name and its ready to be renamed.. instead, I should go right click - context menu - rename to do that.
First thing I do is double click the top of the window to enlarge it and when I do that the window enlarges correctly, but it also lunches an app like the double click lags behind to click on an app after the window enlages, im using the 64bit version.
If u dnt knw wat I mean please try it out and tell me how I can fix this, just double click a sized window to make it fullscreen and tell me wat happens.
I also would like to knw if maybe its the fact that im using the 64bit version and that its glitchy.
My issue is that i'm trying to send emails with postfix and gmail as the mail relay,i'm trying to send emails to my self by sendmail -bv user@gmail.com

When login in my gmail account i can't see nothing under the sent / inbox / spam folder.
it's seems like the mail are been sent.. but nothing is happening.
Whenever I run glxgears or glxinfo from an ssh or vnc session, I get "Error: couldn't get an RGB, double-buffered visual". I can run glx stuff fine on the console under KDE, but that's not practical for the intended users. I've tried updating drivers (it's a Dell R610 w/ Matrox G200ew videa), firmware, rpms, etc., even running ssh with -X or -Y, but to no avail.
I have a Lexmark 736DN printer (color, 2-sided printing). With openSUSE 11.3, there was non specific driver to pick during printer installation: I picked up "Lexmark C772dn Foomatic/Postscript" and everything was fine (at least I didn't notice problems). With openSUSE 11.4, there's no such a driver! Even more, the list of drivers for lexmark is a lot, lot shorter than the list present in 11.3. C772dn is not present so i picked up "Lexmark 4076 - CUPS + Gutenprint v5.2.6": but there is no color option and non double sided printing! what's up? Maybe I miss a rpm with printer's drivers (not installed by default)?
Just configured a new printer, an Oki B410d and have a problem with the automatic double-sided printing:it will only print with the "long-edge flip", no matter if I mark the "short-edge" option. This is very annoying, since I have to print lots of booklets on horizontal A4 paper, and reverse pages are printed upside-down! I'm using the "OKI B4000 / B400 / MB400 PCL" driver from Okidata web page.
This is probably not the best question i posted on a forum, but i want to make sure i got something right on the live-upgrade page (SDB:System upgrade - openSUSE)
It says: "Check if [URL] (replace 11.3 with your version)"
I have currently 11.3 installed and want to move to 11.4. Now when it says "replace 11.3 with your version" does that mean current or version that i am migrating to?
Worst thing is i have done this before (from 11.2 to 11.3, but am not sure how i interpreted it at that time)
