I would like to send emails form my server using my gmail account.Does anybody know how to do it?
OS = OPENSUSE 11.3 server installation - NO GUI....
My issue is that i'm trying to send emails with postfix and gmail as the mail relay,i'm trying to send emails to my self by sendmail -bv user@gmail.com
In the logs, i can understand that it been delivered to the destination,

When login in my gmail account i can't see nothing under the sent / inbox / spam folder.
it's seems like the mail are been sent.. but nothing is happening.
I'm trying to set up my postfix server to relay mail (via a php cms) using Gmail's smtp on my account, but for some reason, Gmail returns an error code that StartTLS must be sent first, my postfix main.cnf file can be found at pastebin, because of this forum's text length I cannot paste my postfix main.cnf file as can be seen I have everything set and configured for Gmail, but postfix (for some unseen reason) can not send StartTLS. Mutt can only read email's from my gmail account, but no emails can be send through gmail to the Internet. I need some guide for Mutt , don't know how to configure it , for sending emails via my gmail account. I tried many muttrc conf files from the Internet and even tried to configure my own muttrc file , but still no luck. My windows xp box ( Outlook Express ) is configured and works with gmail account , but I would like to explore the power of Linux.
I have evolution set up to send emails using gmail's smtp server. I've always been able to do it with no problems, but a couple of days ago I stopped being able to send emails to gmail accounts. I can send emails to other addresses but not gmail. The same happens with my wife's laptop with ubuntu. The only thing I can think of is that we recently moved and thus changed ISP, but I don't see how that's preventing us to send mails specifically to gmail accounts...

have plenty of experience in ubuntu and mandriva.I am looking for a way of sending emails from CLI via my gmail account.in ubuntu I use mailx+exim4. in mandriva i use msmtpbut in opensuse i cant install exim4, and the installation of msmtp has a completely different architecture and i cant find the configuration file i modified in my mandriva computer to send mails via gmail.Does anyone know of a simple and quick installation of some MTA in opensuse which can satisfy my need?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running 11.04 desktop 64 bit and have smartmontools and mdadm set to send automated test emails at bootup (I have a RAID5 setup).I'm using msmtp with a gmail account. When I'm logged in, I can manually send test emails with both smartmontools and mdadm; neither will send me an email at bootup even though they are set to do so. The msmtp log at bootup has a smtp.gmail.com exitcode=EX_NOHOST.why it can't find the smtp server at bootup but has no problem once I'm logged in and test it manually? Is there some dependency that isn't loading in time at bootup???

I think something is not completed, I need to make that fetch to a specific user only, not all users.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHas thunderbird (recent version) have a "TEST" function ? basically, i'm trying to send messages, with 20+ accounts (different emails, but one domain / SMTP server). one account works fine - the other one doesn't. i go to my "outgoing server" & everything is fine - usernames / ports etc..) The settings for each account do show the right outgoing server. If i 'send later' & close down thunderbird, 7 re-open - it asks me for my password again (which it saves), & then it is able to send the email.
QUESTION :- is there a TESt option that will test each & EVERY account in one timeslot ? Ie, will go through each email address - sends an email to itself (the same address), & sends it. it will then try the server again, to see if the email was received. & then give me a single report, of all the incorrect settings.(I've tried this 1 email account half a dozen times tonight & i dont know *WHY* its not sending on the 1st go.. )
I run a 6.06.2 Dapper server for a not-for-profit, and have had a very simple email set-up working for a couple of years. Users have their email address set up on the server, and use a gmail account as webmail access/storage. Emails are downloaded via POP to users gmail accounts, and are sent out from gmail via SMTP to the server. Like I said, this has worked fine for ages, but in the last couple of days its all gone wrong.
