I have a web/db server running OpenSuSE 11.1, Apache 2.0, and MySQL 5.0.
What would be a good and free antivirus solution for it? I don't mind whether it's installed or runs from a website similar to housecall.trendmicro.com as long as it's decent.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a question on free disk space. I'm currently running CentOS 5.5 on in Xenserver virtual environment. We've had an issue with disk space. My question is as follows: - from a ssh connection i run df -h this gives the value of 90% used leaving me with 9GB. If I use system monitor via a VNC connection the free disk space value is 20GB free on the same volume. Which one is correct? I do use SNMP to monitor the same volume and should alert me when < 10% is free I know this works as I set the alert threshold to < 90% I get an alert.

I would like to install Linux based AntiVirus Server with Windows Clients. As per the existing setup, all Windows machines are using "demo" or "evaluation" copy of antivirus & all antivirus softwares are not same on all windows computers.
Someone is using Trend-Micro ,other is using Avast. Due to above listed problem,i want to implement Linux Based Free AntiVirus Server,which will be connected directly on the internet. The Linux AntiVirus server will updated it's database from Internet automatically.
Inside the Linux Server,all Windows PC's are connected in a same Local Area Connection. All windows XP computers will fetch the updated data from the Anti Virus Server. First off i know that suse linux cant be infected by window based viruses and that as a whole reactive based technology such as anti virus wont be that effective as it is always dependent on the virus spreading first-but is there a way to have a real time antivirus scanner under linux? It would be nice to know if i file i opened had a nasty virus in it like the way it does in windows. I first came to think of this since the new opera browser has built in protection from avg. Ive tried opera but still prefer firefox with all the addons like noscript and adblockplus etc.

All I want is a simple way so my frien and I can play chess over the net. So I looked at php scripts. Nothing suitable, that I could find. I'd like a nice web interface. My thought figure out how to "talk" to gnuchess or whatever an write some php to talk to it. Xboard, html style. (Is there one?) Or run my own private chess server.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Redhat EL 3 server , I found that the / directory is nearly full , then I remove the file in it .Now ,the files are removed , but I found that the / directory size is not changed , I sure the files are under / directory , it is strange that sometimes this problem do not happen , I usually reboot the server then the size will be reduced .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to set up a simple FTP server with an Ubuntu 10.04 box that I'm using as a file server. So far, I've tried a couple FTP server apps from the repos. One was proftpd with gadmin installed for the GUI. The other was pure ftp, with PureAdmin installed as the GUI. The problem I'm having is that gadmin seems buggy, and PureAdmin I cannot seem to make work properly. Another dilemma of mine is that I have two large hard drives with several folders on them. I only want to share a couple folders from each drive, but have them how up in the home directory of the user that logs in.
It seems like I may need a strong program that supports virtual folders (like Wing FTP), but I wanted to see if anyone out there in the Ubuntu world uses a free one that can help me make folders from different hard drives appear as though they're organized in one home directory?
just some time ago, my /usr partition's used space is started to increase rapidly, and currently it reached 17.5GB. We put /usr as a separate partition (/dev/sda2)
So when we do "df" this is the result:

But what makes me puzzled is if I do "du", I only get 4.3GB instead of 20GB as "df" reported.

Everybody spend their precious time to help others, that's very helpful.But it seems like there is no support from UBUNTU team,how could we even get through the barrier of not using Microsoft's OSes? If I try to get apache2 to not run on 80 shellinxabox appears to bind to it ok, but when I visit my site at port 80 via firefox I get apache instead. 1) How do I stop this and get shellinabox and apache2 working at the same time?2) How do I find another free port that isn't firewalled? All I have been trying is starting shellinabox on various ports and trying to connect and this is a very slow process

I have been running a fedora server without issues for many years and recently updated to FC12. It turned out that there is a bug in OpenSSL in FC12 that caused me a lot of problems and I had to build apache, mod_ssl and OpenSSL from source to get it working.I'm now looking at migrating to another distribution becasue Fedora is not appropriate for a production server environment in a growing company.
What I want to know is what is the most reliable distribution with regards automatic updates (bug free that is)? I'm comparing RedHat, Ubuntu LTS, Debian, etc. at the moment. Is there any report that looks at this topic?I'd expect RedHat would have the best, but I also have to take cost into account as it is the only platform that you have to pay for these updates.I read this but it seems to quickly move away from the "bug-free" question initially asked.
I'm trying to configure notifying 'sys admins' cellulars about some events in clients IT infrastructure. In linux env it would be ease, just to use 'mail' cmd but need solution for windows env in this case.
I have RAID Controller running under windows xp and its raid array sotfware has feature to notify about events by email. I found some free solutions on the internet but most of them are shareware and if are freeware, they have limitations e.g. nr of sent emails per day.

VirtualBox is successfully installed on my openSUSE 11.2 and the guest OS is Win XP. I am looking for a way to acomplish two things from the guest OS:-use USB -use internet connection
On the first one, I've run into a howto for openSUSE 11.2 that says usb access for guest OSes in VBox is supported only in the binary (non-free) version. Since I am running the free one, does that mean I am out of luck on usb matter?
On the second one, I am puzzled as well. WinXP image is already installed and I tried to configure its networking via the "settings" section in VBox which gives me several options out of which none is for setting up IP's. How do I get internet connection that openSUSE host already has to share it with the guest OS within VBox?
Where can i request a free openSUSE cd's from online.I could not Download Because my Internet connection speed is very low.

Many ISPs these days don't even have a news.ispname.com server and certainly not when using a 3G dongle one. recommend a decent free Usenet service for the text groups?
