Debian Configuration :: What Default Sources.list That Has Free And Non Free Etc For Squeeze

During playing around sources, synaptic playing I messed up the default list. I know I should have been more careful. Anyways could someone tell me what the default the default sources.list that has free and non free etc for squueze please? I have been trying to get the default list but I cannot find it anywhere. There are alot of lists out there but nothing tagged like the "default" list.
I installed Squeeze on a server today, and struggled a bit because the network card needed non-free firmware (Broadcom something). The server had no floppy, so I had to go and get a pen drive and put firmware from non-free on it to get it to work.
I agree on the political issues on this, but sometimes it's non-free or nothing.
So I was wondering if someone know of a patched netinstall, or know how to make one? Then I could give the pen drive away to something more useful that keeping non-free firmware. Warnings and questions about the non-free would also be nice.
This weekend, I installed Debian Squeeze on my server. I've formatted all the hard disks to EXT4, and I'm using kernel version 2.6.32-686-bigmem.When I tried to install the program saidar, it surprised me why it does not show my hard drives under 'mountpoint' [URL] <-- Saidar screenshot) as I could when I ran with Debian Lenny with the same kernel, but where the hard drives were formatted in EXT3. My laptop which has Ubuntu 10.04 as OS and the hard drive is formatted in EXT4 can easily show the hard drive in saidar. I also tried to install PHP SysInfo on the Debian computer, but it does not bother to show anything on the hard disks
I tried to check fstab file and I can see that Debian uses UUID to identify the hard drives, but I've tried to change it to something with /dev/sdx, but it did not help either.[URL] (fstab file)
I know that Debian squeeze is very new, but it would be nice if someone could give me a hint what might be wrong, because I am a little tired of all time to use 'du-hs' command To find out how much space is spent on the various drives, since the command is a little slow, since hard disks are well filled.
Is this card supported in Squeeze by either the non-free firmware or the proprietary driver? I just got one to stick into an older box that will be going to a college girl that wants the 3D desktop in KDE. The built-in video was a joke and wouldn't even work without compositing. It was one of those crappy, non-standard pieces of crap known as a "Unichrome" (not the pro).
i have successfully set up squid3 with squeeze using guide on this forum viewtopic.php?f=16&t=59301 . The only problem that i have is the size of /var/log/access.log is too big and keep increasing so i run out of free space. The size of it always the same size as my free space hard disk (so it make me run out of free space in just one day, it can have size to 30 Gb ) right now , the only workaround i make is using crontab to rm access.log every hour . I'm sure this is not the right solution . Does anybody know the correct workaround about this ? I have searching in google but seems havent yet have luck with this .
I've setup my own repository which I want to use SSH as the protocol. I managed to get everything working with an SSH key using port 22. Now, I would like to change the SSH port. I've already changed it on the SSH/repo server. Now I can't figure out how to change apt to use a custom port on the client computer.
My sources.list file line which worked over port 22: deb ssh://user@1.1.1.1/home/user/repo lenny main contrib non-free I've tried: deb ssh://user@1.1.1.1:12345/home/user/repo lenny main contrib non-free and it fails and actually says "failed connecting to port 22"
Can this be done? I've searched google for hours and I getting nothing but unrelated data. I've read the man pages. The man page for apt.conf specified that you can set the port this way for HTTP, but doesn't mention anything about ssh ports.
Today I decided to include again Debian Volatile and discovered that it doesn't exist anymore and that I can get the same packages using this line: deb [url] squeeze-updates main
And the first question is: is this the same than debian-security?
Then, I decided to use [url] to make things less confused, and this was the output:
The first line is Ok. The second line, I guest it's the same than my second line. But, the third, is something different. So, the main question is: what is the difference between squeeze-proposed-updates and squeeze-updates? Are those repos completely separated from squeeze/updates (in security.debian.org)? And, what else should I add to have an always up-to-date and secure system?
1- I'm trying to install the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 driver over the non-free repository ...the problem is that until now i didn't found a recent documentation ...and to be honest i don't know which procedure should i use to rightly install the driver .
2- I have two graphic cards (integrated Intel with the i5 processor), and i can't change the default one to the ati! because debian had set the intel card as a native one...! that's why i´ m wondering if just an installation of the non-free drivers will solve this or not! As far as I can see oxygen-icon-theme unpacks only in /usr/share, beyond it I can think of only /tmp, /var or /var/tmp that it may use, all of which have plenty more than those ~40 MiB that it supposed to occupy unpacked. All btrfs filesystems were formatted with "-d single -m single". System is Debian Sid 64-bit with linux-image-3.0.0-rc5-amd64.
I've got a question on free disk space. I'm currently running CentOS 5.5 on in Xenserver virtual environment. We've had an issue with disk space. My question is as follows: - from a ssh connection i run df -h this gives the value of 90% used leaving me with 9GB. If I use system monitor via a VNC connection the free disk space value is 20GB free on the same volume. Which one is correct? I do use SNMP to monitor the same volume and should alert me when < 10% is free I know this works as I set the alert threshold to < 90% I get an alert.
I see that an update to 6.0.2 is scheduled for Sat, June 25, 2011: [URL] will I need to add "squeeze-proposed-updates" to my sources.list for 6.0.2, or will leaving "squeeze-updates" in place as is be sufficient? My current version and sources.list:

Am I asking too much for a FREE OS? Everybody spend their precious time to help others, that's very helpful.But it seems like there is no support from UBUNTU team,how could we even get through the barrier of not using Microsoft's OSes? I have 160gb laptop. i installed vista in c primary partition which is 25gb and installed ubuntu in d primary partition which is 20gb. A remainig for my data. Now i tried to install CENT OS by formatting ubuntu. I inserted CENT OS DVD and restarted and i selected to delete my /dev/sda2 which is showing 20480mb and it shown me free space. but i tried to add partion /boot of 100mb it got added. but, when i am trying to add / of 3000mb in the remaining 20380mb free space it showing an error message that no free space is available.

It's always a good to backup a configuration file like sources.list before you edit it. To do so, issue the following command: sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup Where does it backup to and how do I access it? I want to put the backup on removable disk or upload it
I wish all of my Internet connections will go through a proxy server. HTTP as well as FTP, and every other type of link. How can i do that? On top of that, is there a free ubuntu-users' public proxy list?
I am trying to test a Gigabit Ethernet Tattile line scan camera. I installed the driver properly set the ip of device using utility given in the driver. when i am trying to open the live view of camera using a utility given (tag_show) it gives me error in /var/log/messages TBP ERROR: No buffers available in free buffers list When i looked into the code of utility it is doing ioctl call where it is failing with errno=12.
