Sometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
How can I get the fullscreen on top??
I am trying to use 32 bit Gemalto pkcs#11 on 64 bit 3.5.8 Firefox on 64bit Opensuse 11.2(2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-03-16 21:25:39 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Unfortunately I do not have 64 bit pksc#11. I have installed 32 bit pkcs#11 and the smart card is accessible from operation system. Is there any solution to push 64bit Firefox to work with 32 pksc#11?

Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.
I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?
I have a win7 laptop and installed a dual-boot ubuntu 10.10. I'm using firefox & thunderbird, shared between windows and ubuntu (default profiles are on a fat32 disk that is shared between the two OSs). I can mount the fat32 disk as usual, but I can't get firefox OR thunderbird to start unless I start them from a terminal using 'sudo'. This is kinda strange. I used to do this all the time and never had a problem before.
I installed firefox, then did:
cd /etc/firefox
sudo firefox -P
in the profile manager, I set the profile file etc, but when I open firefox without doing 'sudo firefox', it hangs up and cannot find the profile. Why do I have to use 'sudo' to open firefox or thunderbird?
It works fine on my other laptop, but I've deleted & reinstalled ubuntu 3 times on this laptop and still have the same problem.
I got the mozilla FF4, extracted, copied to /usr/lib/firefox, changed the old one to /usr/lib/firefox-3 (I had the 3.03 or something like it) Now,I just can make it work... but just as root! If I am in Konqueror, super user, and click over the firefox it opens Firefox 4, as root. If I open another X, as root, I just need to click the old firefox icon and it opens. As user, there is no way I compared the files from /usr/lib/firefox, the new ones with the old ones in /usr/lib/firefox-3, and the permissions are THE SAME. I even tried to replace the firefox and the run-mozilla.sh, the only difference is that then I can get the update window to appear, but it does nothing and just crash. I didn't touched the /usr/bin/firefox, since it just point to the /usr/lib, and in fact, since it is working as root, in user space and in root KDE,it is OK. I tries first,of course, to get a slack one, but at linuxpackages there is only the FF4 for the newest slacks.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I open 'firefox' from the app panel at the top of the screen, it opens on the last web site visited.
I've looked every place I can think to tell it to open in a blank screen. My preferences are set to blank. Right click on the icon > properties shows 'firefox %u'.
Is there something in 'about:config' that would control this and what do I search for?
all my text files are opened with firefox how can I change that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTruthfully, I don't know if this is a Firefox bug or not, but I've only experienced this on my Fedora machine.
There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern, and it's happened in trusted sites when clicking on various links (like this one for instance), but Firefox will suddenly go mad and just start opening window after window.
The only way I can get out of it is 'ps -ef' 'ing for the firefox process and killing it.
This has happened under both 10 and 12.
Submitted a forum post on mozilla's support site here: Firefox Opens 'Infinite' Windows During a Session
Using an online language course, there are links to hear the words and phrases pronounced. If I click these links, a media player opens in the browser (firefox), but after a few seconds Ubuntu crashes.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running OpenSuse 11.1 with KDE 4.3.1 updated. If I am open a terminal and type in
kfmclient openURL $HOME; my konqueror does not open in normal explorer like mode instead it's open the FSview (FileSizeView) mode. Where can I change this behavior?
Konqueror opens in full screen every time which is more a nuance than an issue, I just haven't had time to search why; I'm seeing if anyone else has this issue or knows the preset to change how K. starts up. I don't use Konqueror enough. I can right click to take it off full screen mode, but for who ever else who uses it, it can be a nuance.
I also have this same issue with Thunderbird, but I can't get it out of full screen mode there is no menu bar up top to reduce, minimize or close out.
I've asked this on Opera's forum also with no replies yet. When ever I click on a url link, Opera insists on opening two additional identical tabs over what is already there. This happens whether Opera is open already or has to be started from scratch. The link could be in KMail, Akregator or even a link on an applications About box, it makes no difference. I have set Opera up as the default web browser and I am using the following command "opera %u"

After I double click the installation on the desktop, it opens then closes after like 30 seconds. I dont know if the ImgBurner did not burn it on the disk properly, or if my computer is just retarded.

View 14 Replies View Relatedeverything else seems well with my FC13-x86-64 except firefox (3.6.4 and earlier versions too) VERY frequently hangs the whole system. only the mouse still working, keyboard not responding to ctrl-alt-del, ctrl-alt-function or any other key and even num-lock won't turn the led on. system is still remotely accessible through ssh so I can issue a reboot. same thing may have occurred with thunderbird but only once or twice and probably firefox was also running then. no problems so far with google chrome (but I have no flash plugin for that). FC5-x86-32 on my old PC has never had any of these problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHere's how to install latest Firefox on a 64 bit system (leaving your old firefox install untouched):
1. Get the latest Firefox tarball (64 bit) from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and save it to whereever you like.
2. Make a new directory in /usr/lib64 and untar it there
Code:
3. We want to create a new user profile for Firefox 4. So start Firefox 4 profilemanager and create one.
Code:
Name the new profile whatever you like, I created a new profile named FF4b for example. Also before quitting make sure you click on the "default" profile so that you don't mess up your existing Firefox install.
4. You can now start Firefox 4 with the new profile:
5. If not already installed download flash player square plugin (64 bit) from [url]
Code:
Now you need to go to your .mozilla folder in your home directory and create a symlink for the flash plugin.
Code:
Now look for a folder which is associated with the firefox profile you created earlier. The folder name should end with the name you created it with. Mine was cay67zed.FF4b for example. Cd to that directory:
Code:
Make a plugins directory and put the symlink there:
Code:
If you want, you can create a launcher for Firefox 4 on your desktop or taskbar with the following command option:

how to run a java application on a 64 bit Firefox install on Fedora, but I didn't find any simple and direct way to do it. So I'll post this here, hoping that people who search for this problem can easily find this really quick solution.
1-> on the terminal do the usual su -
2-> yum install jre
3.> make a link in /home/your_name/.mozilla/plugins/ folder to the file located at /usr/java/jre1.6.0_23/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
(just select the file, press ctrl+shift and drag it to the plugins folder)
4-> go to http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp from firefox and test your install
Piece of cake, but it doesn't show up in search engines that easily when I look for: jre firefox 64 plugin fedora Granted that many tutorials mention the linking method, but most either tell you to install the binary/rpm from the java site or even installing the 32bit version for older fedoras... yum makes it so much easier.

I'm running Debian AMD64. I downloaded the flash square (64-bit) plugin, and in progressive attempts to get Firefox to see it, I put libflashplayer.so in the following places:
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/
/opt/firefox/plugins/
And nothing, it still complains the plugin isn't installed. I even tried removing all instances of the file and running aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree (cos 32-bit flash is better than nothing), and it still didn't see it.
I'm not sure why, but over the last couple of days when I browse the web with my Centos 5.3 machine running firefox 3.0.5, it takes a very long time to load web pages. Loading the app itself is pretty quick, and I have not issues with system resources (it's an HP Proliant ML115 server, with dual opteron processors & 3Gb RAM).
