OpenSUSE :: Exaile Won't Open After Install?
Dec 24, 2009I'm running 11.2 Gnome and I've installed Exaile and its now listed in Yast, but it won't open. I rebooted and it still would not open.
What am I missing to get Exaile to work?

Apr 11, 2010The following message comes up when I boot up: Logging in user Warning: Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 0. When I press OK, the system completes the start up and everything looks normal. But when I try to connect to internet, I get the following message:
KNetworkManager cannot start because the installation is misconfigured. System DBUS policy does not allow it to provide user settings; contact your system administrator or distribution. KNetworkManager will not start automatically in future. If I reboot the system, I logg in successfully. So far the problem has appeared approximately upon every second time I boot up. Rebooting the system seems to take care of it.

Opensuse 11.2
KDE 4.4.2 (Factory)
After upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 it worked fine for a week or so.
OpenSUSE Install :: Fresh Install + Update & Reboot = Unable To Open Session?
Sep 14, 2010I just reinstalled my OpenSuse 11.3 with the GNOME desktop. As soon as I was done installing and I was on a fresh desktop, I installed the Yast updates that were available, rebooted, and now I can't login to any of my User accounts. Whenever I try to login, it tells me that it is "Unable to Open Session".o any of you know how I can fix this without having to reinstall all over again

Mar 6, 2011I am trying to Install Open Suse 11.3 (burned as an ISO DVD) along with existing Win 2008 R2 OS. When I try to boot from the DVD it just logs in to Win2008 though boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the boot sequence. So i tried to mount the ISO and run from Windows ! BUT I get an error before installation starts telling that Win2008 R2 is not supported in open suse installer! Is there anything I can do to overcome this and install/retain both OS? In fact I am even trying to c hange my win2008 from R2 to Enterprise to see if I can overcome the problem!

Nov 20, 2010I cannot open YaST nor 'install software' in the GUI. A new window is appears in the panel, but after 10 seconds or so it disappears. When in terminal, i can open YaST.
This happens from time to time and often after a while I can open it again in GUI (also when rebooting). It's very annoying when I want to install something and I cannot open Yast2 (I'm not familiar with terminal, so that's why i want to stay with GUI, which is KDE btw).

Jul 17, 2010I installed openSUSE 11.3 on my notebook (lenovo 510i, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000).When I connect to my home wlan with WPA2 there is no problem, but when I try to connect to an open WLAN without encryption, the essid is not set (seen with iwconfig wlan0). If I set it after rcnetwork start wlan0 with iwconfig wlan0 essid the_open_sid, it associates and dhcp is working fine.

"Warning: Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session. The name

After acknowledging the error, it resets back to the login manager screen. If I login with root, I get the same message, but it continues on and logins into the session

Jul 16, 2010Everything was working fine with dual boot sda/osuse 11.2 and sdb/kubuntu. Decided to install new 11.3. Lost dual boot, can now only boot to 11.3, sort expected that. I see the root and home partitions in Dolphin but can't mount or open them? Would like to access the files copy to Osuse. Rite clik get me "error permission denied" I can reinstall Kubunt and it will set up my boot loader correctly with grub2, but is their a better quicker way? Why does Osuse still use the legacy grub?

OpenSUSE Install :: ATI Driver - Boot But X Windows Crashes When Open Any Application?
Apr 4, 2011I am new to opensuse, having migrated from Ubuntu. I have had some difficulty with power management on Ubuntu so i decided to install opensuse with kde as i heard it was good for laptops. I have had lots of trouble getting opensuse 11.4 to boot properly and to run without freezing.
I have trawled the forums and bugzilla and the documentation, e.g. SDB:ATI - openSUSE and SDB:Configuring graphics cards - openSUSE. Consequently i am now able to boot (normally), however whenever i open any application, e.g. Dolphin file manager, Firefox, etc, the tab starts to load (little circle starts spinning on the tab), and then it freezes.
At this point I can exit X Windows and enter the text mode. I have repeated this with the FGLRX and Radeon drivers running. This is always repeatable. I can also boot into level 3 and do things there.
My computer details are:
HP Pavilion dv6 3032TX
Processor - Intel i7 720 QM
Ram - 6GB
GPU - ATI Mobility Radeon 5650
Harddrive - 640GB 5400rpm

What i have tried so far:
1. First 4 steps on SDB:Configuring graphics cards - openSUSE
2. Install and run FGLRX
Note that i cannot failsafe boot - it never boots into X Windows and just hangs. I really do like the look and feel of opensuse and would love to use it, but at this point my only option is to try another distro.
