Apr 12, 2010After upgrading from opensuse 11.1 to 11.2 I get the following error messages while booting the system caused by the initial filesystem check routines:
ERROR: Couldn't open /dev/null (Too many open files)
ext2fs_check_if_mount: Too many open files while determining whether ... is mounted.
fsck.ext3: Too many open files while trying to open ...
I found a new version of the e2fsprogs at the OBS package claiming to fix this problem. But installing this new version did not solve my problem.
Here some information about the affected system:
Operating System:openSUSE 11.2 (i586)
Installed e2fsprogs:e2fsprogs-1.41.11-4.1.i586
Number of LVs:35 (all ext3)
I can only boot if I comment out some of the filesystems in my /etc/fstab. It seems that the number of filesystems must be less or equal 32.

Wine will be built without X support, which probably isn't what you want.You will need to install development packages of Xlib/Xfree86 at the very least. Jul 7, 2011When I install wine the add/remove program wants to install both 86_64 and i686 files. I have the x86_64 version of Fedora 14. I am having problems with counterstrike and have installed it using Wine, have noted problems when both types of files are installed.
I would like to have Fedora set up just right but as with all Linux distros, am having trouble keeping my head above water with fc14. I have success up to a point and then want to go back to Windows for its simplicity. Just this wine problem

Appear "open with...", and i look for wine application but there isn't an executable to run wine.This problem happends in OpenSuse. Mar 9, 2010I have done a bit of research on WineHQ and other places, but cannot seem to get Office to install. I am running openSUSE 11.2 and from what I have read, Office should install and run without issue. I have a relatively fresh install, but had added the winetricks (with lots of errors and no success) and then afterward uninstalled wine and reinstalled. (I hope that makes sense). After installing Wine the first time, I could get to about 2/3 installed before wine crashed. Now after the reinstall It crashes almost immediately after the install process begins.

Aug 9, 2011I've had a problem with libreoffice - it won't open files. That is,File/Open doesn't bring up a dialog box. File/New works and so does using a filename on the command line when starting libreoffice.Now there's good news and bad news. The good news is that with help from some libreoffice-users folks, I now know what caused this and I have a workaround. The bad news is that it's a bug in Libreoffice and I need some help testing other versions, please. So here's the steps to reproduce:
(1) Login to a Gnome session (KDE may also work, dunno)
(2) Start libreoffice
(3) Select Tools/Options/LibreOffice/General
(4) Observe in that page a checkbox 'Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes'
(5) Ensure the checkbox is blank (not selected)
(6) Save settings and check that File/Open pops up a dialog box.
(7) Quit libreoffice and log out of the session
(8) Login to an LXDE session
(9) Start libreoffice
(10) Select File/Open
*(11) Check whether a dialog box appears
(12) If not, select Tools/Options/LibreOffice/General
*(13) Check whether there is a checkbox 'Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes'
If your system does NOT open a dialog box in step 11 and does NOT have a checkbox in step 13, you are seeing the same bug as me.I'm using opensuse 11.3.

Sep 15, 2011I'm beginner of open suse 11.3. 64bit I cannot open mp3 files. Amarok is opening but it stops immediately. It can be connected with the installation problem. During installations some respositories for mp3 etc was stopping at 50% and repeating the cycle. So I think it's general problem, not Amarok.

I've looked through the various config files in ~home and /usr/share/wine, and can't find any parameter that might even remotely address this.

This was after I compiled WINE from source and removed it with "make uninstall" and "rm -rf /.wine".So now I installed the WINE from a deb package and the Wine menu entry is not showing up.I've tried re-installing Wine and rebooting my PC but nothing seems to work.

OpenSUSE :: .torrent Files Won't Open With Utorrent
Aug 25, 2010I have utorrent running on wine without issue. I click on the utorrent.exe and it opens and runs great. My problem is that even after setting .torrent files to open with utorrent (instead of transmission which is the defualt) and then try to open them NOTHING happens. I have to go into utorrent and open the torrent files. This is kind of a pain in the butt cause I want to be able to download and run them from my browser so after the download is finished it gets loaded into utorrent.

Mar 4, 2011I received some M$ Power Points files and cannot open then. One file was from Power Points 2010, and another saved with the option 2000-2010. These were rejected by Impress with the failure report "Version Incompatibility. Incorrect file version". When a file was saved with the option Power Point 95, Impress tried to open it but when RAM useable ramped up to > 1GB, Impress automatically shut down. The only other information wrt the files is that its highly likely they contain graphics generated with M$Visio. Has anyone had similar experiences? Are there any work arounds?
