I generally use dolphin as a file manager under KDE 4.4.1.
This is set up as a split window. Now, whenever I open dolphin, the right hand window is the "active" one. How does one make the left window the active one by default?
So I was thinking of having my bottom panel just for harbouring active windows. I thought also to uncheck expand so it will grow larger when more windows are active. All of which is not a problem. But there's one thing stopping me from doing this.
Currently the active window stops when it reaches either panel.
[forgot to edit the green bar out. Ops. Ignore it.] So in either bottom corner nothing is displayed. How can I get the active window to go all the way to the bottom of the screen. Whilst the panel still appears above the active window? [Probably won't have transparent panel when doing this.]
How can i get the windows vfat partition at left side of dolphin? Windows vfat drives are mounted in /windows.Those are not displayed at the left side of dolphin.

Like the title says, Dolphin spawns a second window when the search toolbar is enabled.
Does anyone else experience this, and is it normal?

I like openSUSE 11.3 very much. When I move the mouse pointer to the upper left corner of the screen, my active window is immediately replaced by 4, smaller windows (I think that at the beginning I had a cube). I'm afraid this gobbles up a lot of memory and henceforth slows down my computer. Is it possible to have only one window "active" at the time? If I want, say a terminal screen, I can always activate it via the "Computer" button?

I have desktop effects on and window shadows enabled. The main windows don't seem to follow this, nor does any taskbar pop-ups when you hover your mouse over them. I even set the shadow settings to high/annoying settings but I only see it on context/right-click menus.
I don't like the blue shadow because it is too light, but I can't seem to find where to change it. This seems to also apply to in-active windows as far as the size of the shadow but with a gray shadow instead. Still, if the desktop effects were effecting this, then the shadows I see should be large. Plus, desktop effects only give you one color choice with it just being darker on the active window. How to change this?
Is it possible to map the same "Present Windows - All Desktops" action which is invoked by activating the top left corner of active screens via a keyboard shortcut? I basically want to ape OSX and have an expose-like button, the screen edge works fine for now, but I would love a keyboard shortcut also. Is it possible? Also, when I set up a custom keyboard shortcut to run yast, I initially tried using the same command from the KDE menu: /usr/bin/xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2
However, when I use the keyboard shortcut to launch this command, I get problems when trying to use zypper after the initial launch using the keyboard shortcut(from yast GUI or CLI). The error basically states another instance of yast2 already exists. The problem is only with the app/repo management modules though; for instance I can launch yast (using keyboard shortcut or start menu) and access hardware info, sudo users etc, I just can't access software/repo management stuff. Even when I kill the offending PID from the CLI I still get the error and have to restart the box to rectify it proper. So I changed the keyboard shortcut command to : /usr/bin/kdesu /sbin/yast2
and this seems to have resolved the problem. My second question is what is the difference between the two in this particular instance and why does one cause problems (xdg-su) and the other does not (kdesu).
On my dual-boot system, 11.4 and win7, Iped out the Doc and DL folders in my home directory and replaced 'em with links to the ones on the windows side. It works great except for one thing: When I open Dolphin in superuser mode and change the permissions to make myself the owner of those folders, the change doesn't take. Is there a special trick to it?GEFPS: I plan to use openSUSE as my main OS, but it's easier to keep my data on the NTFS partition, because Linux speaksindows better than than Windows speaks Linux. Detect the current window that has the focus. For example at the moment am using firefox therefore teh function should say firefox is the main window.

I know it can be done, that is how it is in gnome with the Ambiance theme and such. I have already gotten all the other buttons on the left, but the chromium ones wont budge.

Was scrolling in the web browser and noticed that if I scrolled up or down fast enough the active window changes. Using kde as the desktop environment. Also this has nothing to do with the browser as it happens with anything I have open. Heck trying to scroll in console and having a document open just flips between the two of them. Only way this does not happen is if I scroll slow enough.

I had the functionality of when my mouse left the active window it would fade and any window behind it I moused over would come into focus. I liked this feature, but I broke it somehow. I have the problem that Window Selector continuously change the window list from one column to two columns of windows icons.
It is so impossible to click on a window icon to select it.
I've tried to set the size to larger and different sizes. I've tried to show or hide the panel. I've tried to group or ungroup windows.
Is there a way to tell windows selector to stay in one column windows list?
