apache2: Syntax error on line 204 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2: undefined symbol: gzopen64 Have been running ubuntu server for about 6 months on a rickety but reliable AMD1.2GHz laptop (hp compaq nx9005) Had successfully deployed a UPS and various CGI scripts. Familiar with the basics of apache tomcat and even dabbled with some mods. All was running sweetly until I performed an upgraded yesterday which took me to Kernel (from uname -a) 2.6.31-22-generic-pae #70-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 00:54:52 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
During the upgrade there were libraries which apache2 depended upon and the process halted. Have brute forced some other libraries - given there were 87 packages in the upgrade and it had got to 78 - I did not dare roll back - so pursued further until I finally noticed the message above
I have an Epson Stylus Photo PX710W. It worked fine in opensuse 11.2, but I've now done a fresh install of opensuse 11.3 and I can't get the printer to work. I set it up as for 11.2, so I'm sure it should just work.
CUPS job page says:
stopped "/opt/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/cups/lib/filter/epson-escpr-wrapper failed" and CUPS error log says: PID 1294 (/opt/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/cups/lib/filter/epson-escpr-wrapper) stopped with status 127!
While the scanner also isn't working, I think this is a separate issue as the CUPS log seems to suggest it is connecting to the printer, + I'm using network and usb connection.
I have updated using zypper from 11.1 to 11.2. Does this process update the boot/menu.lst file with an entry for the new kernel? Didn't for me.
Any rate, that's not really the problem. I have created a new entry in menu.lst to load the new kernel but I don't have a ramdisk image - all I have is a broken link initrd -> initrd-2.6.31.5-0.1-default
I have installed a LAMP server (Debian Lenny + Apache2 + PHP Version 5.3.1-0.dotdeb.1). On this machine, my web application (PHP + MySQL) exists in 2 flavours:
- Dev - Prod
In /etc/apache2/sites-available, I have ims & ims-dev, one for each instance. Their contents are identical in terms of settings, except for the paths (dev/prod):
When I attempt to refresh my zypper repositories, I get messages like:
Repository 'gwdg_suse11.1' is invalid. File /var/tmp/TmpFile.vRNflE doesn't contain public key data
I've asked for help (which has been freely given) on these forums before, but nothing has worked, and I've been stuck with this error for many months now. In effect, my system is effectively non-upgradable.
However, I would like to upgrade to 11.2. Is there an upgrade CD, or should I just download the 11.2 DVD (at nearly 5GB) and choose the "upgrade" option from it?
I was having a problem with a fresh 11.04 install and the VPN software I use for work. I found the fix was to upgrade the software, so I downloaded an RPM, converted it to .deb and installed it via dpkg. The install worked and the VPN software now works, but Package Manager says I have a broken package and wants to 'upgrade' to the older broken one. How can I fix this without breaking my VPN SW again?
I have suse10 64 bit installed. I am setting up a svn server on it. After installation and adding the modules ,while reloading the apache2 it's throwing the error as: HTML Code: httpd2-prefork: Syntax error on line 113 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 31 of /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/loadmodule.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/apache2/mod_dav_svn.so into server: /usr/lib64/libsvn_subr-1.so.0: undefined symbol: apr_memcache_add_server

After upgrading my 64bit 9.10 install to lucid, KDE went poof. I am presented with the login screen, and after supplying my credentials the screen goes black and all I am left with is a mouse pointer.
According to ps kded4 is dead (zombie). kdm.log also indicates a problem with ibus. I installed the "ibus" pkg, but didn't resolve it. Attached is an excerpt of my kdm.log, I can't really find useful information in syslog/dmesg/messages. The system is up-to-date and I've tried starting with a clean user account as well as removing the .kde directory.
Curious thing happening since upgrade. The desktop toolbar is invisible, although I can get click and access the drop down menus for login, calander, power settings etc. Alt-tab works in 2D. The new desktop icons for natty are also invisible. I have tied to access a terminal using Alt-F2, but terminal window doesnt open. I had compiz running on previous 10.10 installation. I am at a loss as to where to begin fixing this. If I didn't have a windows 7 installation partition that would get screwed up I would flatten the installation and download and install a fresh install, but I do and I don't want to go through that pain if I don't have to.
I have just upgraded to 9.10 and now my internet wont work. I am not very technical and need help please Firefox opens but the screen remains blank and firefox claims "done"
I have a number of CentOS 5.4 machines that use kerberos to authenticate. This works fine. However, after upgrading one of them to CentOS 5.5 it is no longer possible to log in.
In 5.4, I get this in the log:
> called to authenticate 'hans', realm 'MYREALM' > authenticating 'hans@MYREALM' > not using an entered password for 'hans', allowing libkrb5 to prompt for more > authenticating 'hans@MYREALM' to 'krbtgt/MYREALM@MYREALM'
[code]....
Note the absence of the line where libkrb5 asks for a password. Running "kinit hans" on the machine (as root, who can log in) works as it should, so I don't think anything is wrong with kerberos as such (as I did yesterday, in [URL]. Clients still running 5.4 have no problems, so the problem was introduced in 5.5.
I recently upgraded my x86_64 system from FC8-FC10 using Pre-Upgrade, and here I got some help fixing all the package conflicts that resulted. Following the first reboot after this massive package update, it appears DNS doesn't work in some apps.
I could ping www.yahoo.com, and nslookup www.yahoo.com resolved the name, but firefox and links couldn't. Typing the ip addr that nslookup gives for www.yahoo.com works fine in both firefox and links. Something's obviously wrong with DNS.
I found a workaround for Firefox which is to browse to about:config and set network.dns.disableipv6 = true. Firefox started resolving names after that.
But then I noticed yum is DNS incapable as well. I don't know how to fix it. Here's what I get:
Code: [~]$ sudo yum update Loaded plugins: allowdowngrade, refresh-packagekit http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/linux/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')> Trying other mirror.
[Code]....
Does anyone have any additional info on workarounds or fixes for this DNS problem?
The machine in question has a static ip addr, and I have static nameserver addrs in /etc/resolv.conf, corresponding to the static settings provided by my isp.
Am trying to upgrade from karmic 9.1 to lucid 10.04 and have the problem that as part of the upgrade I get a report that some packages are broken. As suggested posting the relevant files APT and MAIN Logs from the /var/log/dist-upgrade below.
I tried to upgrade my pc from 9.10 to 10.04 version with the alternative cd as the update manager was not showing the new release. There were some problem in installation and the process stopped somewhere. Then, when I tried with the update manager I got some error.
Like so many others, after upgrading 8.04->10.04 LTS, Bluetooth is now busted. I've spent the better part of a day trying to find answers; I've tried many things and the results have not been consistent. I'm not going to write a book here as there are many other posts on the same problem and no real answers other than to complete a fresh install. I CAN do that but I'll have to overcome one bothersome problem:
Bluetooth is an important protocol. Now my (Bluetooth) broadband adapter is busted and I have to try and resolve this issue using a lousy phone line and modem. Needless to say... I can't download a new distro with that configuration. The updates would take weeks!
I suppose I'll have to drive into town and get someone to burn me a copy of 10.04 lts... Hope that works!
I'll think twice (or more) before upgrading an LTS distro again! That machine was working great....I don't know why I upgraded.. security concerns mainly. live and learn I guess... live and learn.
11.04 has finally fixed my Screen Resolution problems. Yippee. But now the Internet access has broken, again rendering my Ubuntu installation mostly useless. Yes, it tells me Wired internet disconnected, after repeated attempts to gain access to the internet over a LAN cable. I have tried everything to get it to work, even manually entering all the info to allow access to my router. But still No. What is even more frustrating is that the internet worked fine on the Live CD, but not on the final installation.
I had been running a dual boot of both ubuntu and windows 7. I recently upgraded to ubuntu 11.04. After doing so i no longer have the option to select to load windows from the grub loader. Instead of the options presenting themselves my screen remains black before loading ubuntu.
I was updating from 10.04 to 10.10 (was updating through update manager) after some time I got following message:
Code: An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. When I tried to run the command
Code: ubuntu-bug update-manager as above message says I got error
Code: The problem cannot be reported: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package

After upgrading to CentOS 5.3 my sendmail will no longer deliver messages using a program in my /etc/smrsh. It fails with the message "unknown mailer error 1". This program was working perfectly before I did the upgrade using yum. Here is the list of packages that were upgraded. Does anything jump out as being the source of the issue? I don't believe that sendmail itself was upgraded:
My chrome browser has been broken since the last upgrade. I did (just a regular "apt-get upgrade").
I get this when I try to run the browser from a console :
Code: Select alldarko@paris:~$ google-chrome [3229:3229:0918/103229:ERROR:nss_util.cc(845)] After loading Root Certs, loaded==false: NSS error code: -8018 [3229:3229:0918/103259:ERROR:zygote_host_impl_linux.cc(541)] Failed to send GetTerminationStatus message to zygote [3229:3229:0918/103259:ERROR:zygote_host_impl_linux.cc(541)] Failed to send GetTerminationStatus message to zygote
So to be more specific :
My system is : Code: Select alldarko@paris:~$ uname -a ; cat /etc/debian_version ; cat /etc/issue Linux paris 3.16.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u3 (2015-08-04) i686 GNU/Linux 8.2 Debian GNU/Linux 8 l
I run the Xfce desktop
The problem is the same whether is use google-chrome stable, beta, unstable, or chromium
I would like to ask whether somebody has had the similar experience after KDE 4.4 upgrade. 1. From the attached picture you can see that an icon for xine has a different size. When I change it manually and align the icon, it has previous status after the restart. If I delete that icon and recreate it again, it's smaller than other icons. Icon size for desktop is set up to 32, Desktop Activity. 2. Minimizing/maximizing e.g. Firefox breaks all icons in task bar. I am able to refresh only Firefox/Thunderbird icons.
What can cause these issues? Maybe: 1. my nouveau driver 2. bugs in KDE 4.4. 3. my theme
I recently upgraded to Fedora 14 from F13 using Yum, it worked to my amazement except now yum appears to be broken because of a massive amount of dependency issues. It appears the old F13 packages are still around and yum is unable to get ride of them because their dependency with F14 packages of the same name. I tried yum distro-sync, and I tried yum resolvedep $(package-cleanup --orphans) --skip-broken but to no avail. Package--cleanup--orphans identifies all of the left over F13 packages.
I also can't install or upgrade anything using Yum, does give me a reason except the massive amount of dependency issues with the left over F13 packages. When I use the graphical software update it tells me among other things that Yum and RPM have updates but of course it won't update. I did follow the instructions and used yum update yum before I upgraded to F14, maybe it didn't take? Anyway to resolve this issue other than a clean install?
