I have squid running on my home gateway, but when I try to listen to streaming radio, it doesn't work.
Using mplayer with a proxy shows this:

On my computer i have 1 network card and 1 USB modem for Mobile Internet. I can access internet using both devices, but when i am using the network card i am unable to listen to radio stations because the radio streaming is not allowed at the work place. So, i am triyng to find a solution and the solution seems to be to use the bonding module on linux. But i have a few question:
1) i don't know if it is possible to use this module for 2 such different devices
2) i don't know if, even enabling bonding, i will be able to "select" the right path in order to reach the radio streaming , or if the right path is selected automatically. When i connect to the radio station using the network card, it opens the connection, but it closes it imediately and i am not sure that the kernel is clever enough to use the other connection in this case.
I have an account to log into Coasttocoastam Site and listen to the streaming audio. On windows it plays with either Windows Media Player OR Real Player. I've always just used Windows media player. Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site. Of course I click it to copy what it's doing and XINE is displaying and I see it's buffering and then starts to play.

I'd like to have a port open for some streaming radio stations. However, I don't know if they are UDP or TCP or what "direction" to have them set up (inbound or outbound). I also don't know if they should be set up for "host" or "dynamic". The stations I'm interested in are the 181.fm channels mostly (shoutcast stations). We have a Westell A90 type modem/router from Verizon.

When I click on them, whether trying to use their "player" or (in case of jazz24) clicking on "mp3 stream" ... the result is simply crashing the browser, whether firefox or chrome. If I click the mp3 stream, banshee opens with an hourglass-type icon but doesn't do anything.
My local music files play fine on Banshee and I CAN listen to streaming baseball on mlb.com (which is a Flash-based player).
I have Lucid 64 bit. For some reason, I feel like these radio stations used to work, though I can't pinpoint when they stopped working. Can it be that the entire world of internet radio is closed to me on Linux? For some reason i doubt it, there must be something I'm doing wrong here?
I have Ubuntu on both my machines but my older machine is a Duron with 128 mb of ram. Because of that, I have Xubuntu 6.06 on it. It runs very well. So well, I wondered if I could use it to stream internet radio or even videos. Problem is, I can't find flash for it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Squid to restrict web access on the computers of my LAN. All of the computers are using static IP address and we use our firewall to deny all HTTP access except for the proxy machine so everyone needs to go through the proxy to access the web.
Most of of the computers have access to websites that are listed on a white list that I called "goodsites". I have a range of IP address that I listed in a file called "super_users". These IP adresses are able to access everything except sites that I have put in a black list called "badsites".
I would like to restrict the use of audio/video streaming for all the IP adresses including the super_users. So far I have been able to effectively block streaming for all the IP addresses except the super_users that are able to bypass this restriction.
Here is the transcript of my squid.conf file:

I successfully installed darwin streaming server .. I stream Audio through internet well but videos I can stream locally in my network only .. when I am connected to internet outside my network .. it doesn't stream I think their must be ports opened for that .. or any 1 have any ideas .. the audio is streamed on port 8000 .. video is streamed on port 7070 but locally only .. I opened those 2 ports in my router only the audio is working .. also I opened ports 554,7170 disabled the firewall of the router .. is it a problem of ports or something else .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.
I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. I have an old T30 that has an incompatible wireless card with my network. How can I disable the builtin wireless card while allowing my USB Linksys card to fully function?I can't figure out how to have one run while disabling the other.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running karmic on a laptop. I recently changed iptables to drop all new incoming packets (not the related or established ones) on all ports. I was not running a proxy, so this worked fine. More recently I got v 3.0.13 of privoxy with apt-get and looked through the config file. I changed the default port in the privoxy config to 8080 and kept the ip at 127.0.0.1. Then I changed the Firefox settings to use a HTTP proxy at 127.0.0.1 with port 8080. when I try to run privoxy with the command: privoxy /etc/privoxy/config , the terminal outputs no errors. Then when I try to access a webpage through firefox the page will not load, but firefox doesn't display any reason for it. I don't really even know if privoxy is running because when I check the logfile (after having uncommented the logfile line in the privoxy config file) it is blank. I don't know much about networking, but I was wondering if someone could tell me why this is happening? Well that was a bit dumb of me. I just had to allow new packages in from localhost.

First I goto windows and set the radio tab to 3G only using that managing software(which only works for windows) and then to reboot with Ubuntu and work with the modem. If there is no 3G coverage modem get disconnected because it was set to 3G only mode. But with new ubuntu 10.04 when 3G signal get week the modem change to 3G first else GPRS mode. After that because 3G signal is week in my area it never catch up with HSDPA. So I need to reboot with windows and set radio mode to 3G again.So what I need is a way to set that 3G only with in Ubuntu. Is there a way??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit Ubuntu with a wired nic card connected straight to the cable modem. When I try going to Free Internet Radio - SHOUTcast Radio - Thousands of Free Online Radio Stations I get an error message that it is unable to connect. I tried it with Firefox 3.6.11 and Opera 10.06 and neither one will make a connection to Shoutcast web page.
I don't have it blocked with iptables and I don't think the Ad Block plug-in is a factor as Opera won't connect either. But if I try it with IE in XP running in VirtualBox on the same Ubuntu system it will connect to the web page! Is it something with my Ubuntu system or is Shoutcast blocking access to Linux users?
I have just installed Ubuntu 11.04 in my acer aspire 4710z laptop. After logging in, I am not able to turn on Wireless Radio, hence not able to connect to my wireless router.

The problem is while copying files from B to A I expecience packet loss on the received streamed video
The two systems are connected via a LAN switch.My question is : Is it happening because scp traffic interfering with streaming video . Or there can be any other reason behind this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Pure Evoke Flow radio that connect to my wireless router for streaming internet radio, this works fine. It also has the functionality to connect to a hard drive over wifi and play any MP3 files on it and it runs on Linux.
With Windows (sorry) I just click on the folder and make it Shareable, on the Radio I then set it to search for servers and it finds my wife's PC and plays her music.
I have (I believe) set my music directory on Ubuntu 9.10 to be shareable, it downloaded and installed a couple of files including samba and then rebooted. However my Radio cannot see it.
