OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Streaming Online Radio Server?
Dec 9, 2009tried to do a search for this but it's a bit of a tricky thing to search for. Basically what I'm after is a solution for my work so I can stream a online radio station down to 1 server, and then have the clients stream the audio from that. Anyone know if that's possible?
so:
Online Radio >> Server >> Clients
Any linux or winblows solution would be fine, I'm just trying to look for a solution that would cut down on the internet bandwidth usage, but still allow uses to listen to online radio.
Ubuntu :: Trying To Listen To Some Streaming Radio
Jun 15, 2010I have an account to log into Coasttocoastam Site and listen to the streaming audio. On windows it plays with either Windows Media Player OR Real Player. I've always just used Windows media player. Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site. Of course I click it to copy what it's doing and XINE is displaying and I see it's buffering and then starts to play.

Jun 18, 2011I am unable to play any radio streams such as those found at www.jazz24.org and [URL]
When I click on them, whether trying to use their "player" or (in case of jazz24) clicking on "mp3 stream" ... the result is simply crashing the browser, whether firefox or chrome. If I click the mp3 stream, banshee opens with an hourglass-type icon but doesn't do anything.
My local music files play fine on Banshee and I CAN listen to streaming baseball on mlb.com (which is a Flash-based player).
I have Lucid 64 bit. For some reason, I feel like these radio stations used to work, though I can't pinpoint when they stopped working. Can it be that the entire world of internet radio is closed to me on Linux? For some reason i doubt it, there must be something I'm doing wrong here?

It has two versions the one on the left is for windows media player and the other one is something like the bbc radio iplayer i could listen to the iplayer version yesterday but something happened and now i just can't. Mar 13, 2010I have Ubuntu on both my machines but my older machine is a Duron with 128 mb of ram. Because of that, I have Xubuntu 6.06 on it. It runs very well. So well, I wondered if I could use it to stream internet radio or even videos. Problem is, I can't find flash for it.

Oct 18, 2010I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, and so far I'm digging it a lot more than 10.04 (had annoying sound issues then), but I have a mild issue with playing online radio streaming through either FireFox or Chrome.
After about 25 minutes or so, the audio will just stop, I then have to click on my radio channel to get it back up again. Kind of annoying. I assume this is some sort of plugin or keep alive issue?

Jul 18, 2011I'd like to have a port open for some streaming radio stations. However, I don't know if they are UDP or TCP or what "direction" to have them set up (inbound or outbound). I also don't know if they should be set up for "host" or "dynamic". The stations I'm interested in are the 181.fm channels mostly (shoutcast stations). We have a Westell A90 type modem/router from Verizon.

Apr 26, 2011why some online video players are coming up with just a grey or black screen and the ones that do come i am waiting till they are downloaded(i mean in the scrub bar at bottom of player is full) are playing jerky.. i am using mozilla 3.6.16 with shockwave flash 10.1 and the gnash swf player add-on.I know its not the pc because when i first installed ubuntu about three months ago all sites played fine. i feel it changed after one of the updates.

Nov 25, 2010I am using ubuntu 10.10 on Dell Inspiron 1525 dual boot with vista. My concern is streaming online videos through websites such as BBC iplayer, sky news, ....., NDTV news channel, etc. Videos are streaming perfectly fine as long as they are not running on full screen but if I try to run them on full screen video freezes (after a few minutes, say 5). Interestingly, sound does not stop. I can still hear the latest news updates but the video does not correspond. Same videos are running fine whether full screen or not in vista.

Apr 25, 2010running kubuntu 9.10 karmic koala, and my sound settings -at first glance- seem to be in order... a strange thing is occurring, is my machine haunted? my sound works when:
a. the machine boots up
b. files are played in dragon player
c. the machine shuts down
my sound does not work when:
1. i try to play streaming flash videos online (e.g. videos videos show the image but no sound will play)
2. the same goes for vlc media player: images yes, sound no.
3. i use skype *edit: additional problem*
i made no changes, that i know of, to my machine before this started happening. one day everything was working fine and i turned off my machine to go to sleep. the next day, i turn on my machine, and surprise, the sound doesn't work in some instances.
Networking :: 2 Nics And Bonding - "select" The Right Path In Order To Reach The Radio Streaming
Aug 5, 2010On my computer i have 1 network card and 1 USB modem for Mobile Internet. I can access internet using both devices, but when i am using the network card i am unable to listen to radio stations because the radio streaming is not allowed at the work place. So, i am triyng to find a solution and the solution seems to be to use the bonding module on linux. But i have a few question:
1) i don't know if it is possible to use this module for 2 such different devices
2) i don't know if, even enabling bonding, i will be able to "select" the right path in order to reach the radio streaming , or if the right path is selected automatically. When i connect to the radio station using the network card, it opens the connection, but it closes it imediately and i am not sure that the kernel is clever enough to use the other connection in this case.

Apr 13, 2010I want to stream .avi *divx/xvid* (because of the nice compression and quality) online and have all streams accessible through a web based library type thing. Something like Jinzora ( http://en.jinzora.com/ ) is what I am looking for, but it's buggy. I would even be satisfied with a web based library of streams that you click and open with an external program. I have searched a lot for this and the only thing I found that can do this how I want (if it worked right) was jinzora. I don't want to convert to mpeg4 or flv because of size and quality issues.

The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.

May 1, 2010I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

Dec 8, 2010record my radio show from a radio I have plugged into my iMac. That's right. For now, I am dual booting on my iMac until I can afford to buy a dedicated PC desktop just for Ubuntu.
I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. When I boot into Ubuntu directly, Audio In in the Sound preferences doesn't seem to work. No audio coming through when I try to record from the radio.
Networking :: Darwin Streaming Server Video Streaming Local Only?
May 26, 2009I successfully installed darwin streaming server .. I stream Audio through internet well but videos I can stream locally in my network only .. when I am connected to internet outside my network .. it doesn't stream I think their must be ports opened for that .. or any 1 have any ideas .. the audio is streamed on port 8000 .. video is streamed on port 7070 but locally only .. I opened those 2 ports in my router only the audio is working .. also I opened ports 554,7170 disabled the firewall of the router .. is it a problem of ports or something else .

May 17, 2010My brother gave me his desktop so that I could use it for a headless server. I'm controlling via ssh/vnc. It has a TV/FM radio tuner in it, and I was wondering, could I stream FM radio or TV with it? I have it all setup with LAMP, so I just need to find out if the card works and how to stream using both flash and traditional audio formats. When I tried to use xawtv the server disconnected VNC and ssh and wouldn't let me log on. It did shutdown normal after I pushed the power button. I Here's the output from lshw code....
