View 1 RepliesCognitive Radio patch worked with ns-2.31 but when I tried it for ns-2.34 it did not work. Is there a separate patch available for ns-2.34 to support cognitive radio ? Or does it not work with ns-2.34 at all ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have finally made the switch from Windows to Linux even in my workstations at home, after several years running it in servers, routers etc and i only miss one single program that can make me delete my last virtual machine with Windows 7 forever, a professional radio broadcasting program. I have been broadcasting radio for several years and have mostly used Sam Broadcaster for Windows, have been testing a lot of linux-variants but nothing can compare with Sam or Radiodj.ro on the Windows-side. I found the package "Mixxx" lately and it's almost suit my needs but still not quite there yet with soundFx, station ID's jingles, request functions etc.
I have managed to get Sam Broadcaster (version 4.9.1) working very well with Wine, the only problem is that the audio sounds really bad. The sound crancle a lot and i have been trying several workarounds and spent hours on google without success. If i could get the audio sounds better i think the best solution for now is to stick with sam since i know that program in my sleep and it can be configured to use MySQL database to store everything from playlists to lyrics of songs etc, it will be some job to switch program if it doesn't use MySQL.
I am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.
I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThere is a bug in the upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10. I have repeated it three times. During the "installing the upgrades" section, the upgrade always stops or freezes in the same place. The Terminal message stops at "Configuring linux-image-2.6.31-21-generic". "update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-21-generic". I have a new DELL laptop computer that came with Ubuntu 9.04 pre-installed. I am using the Update Manager and have previously updated all files for 9.04 before clicking on upgrading to 9.10.
View 1 Replies View Relatedrecord my radio show from a radio I have plugged into my iMac. That's right. For now, I am dual booting on my iMac until I can afford to buy a dedicated PC desktop just for Ubuntu.
I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. When I boot into Ubuntu directly, Audio In in the Sound preferences doesn't seem to work. No audio coming through when I try to record from the radio.
I am unable to ssh a Linux box from other Linux boxes; also tried to window putty.Although I am getting the password prompt instantaneously. So far, by comparing logs of other server, I am just able figure out that "debug2: callback start" is not coming in ssh -vvv logs.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Bandluxe C120 HSDPA modem. I used to work with it with previous ubuntu versions. First I goto windows and set the radio tab to 3G only using that managing software(which only works for windows) and then to reboot with Ubuntu and work with the modem. If there is no 3G coverage modem get disconnected because it was set to 3G only mode. But with new ubuntu 10.04 when 3G signal get week the modem change to 3G first else GPRS mode. After that because 3G signal is week in my area it never catch up with HSDPA. So I need to reboot with windows and set radio mode to 3G again. So what I need is a way to set that 3G only with in Ubuntu. Is there a way??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit Ubuntu with a wired nic card connected straight to the cable modem. When I try going to Free Internet Radio - SHOUTcast Radio - Thousands of Free Online Radio Stations I get an error message that it is unable to connect. I tried it with Firefox 3.6.11 and Opera 10.06 and neither one will make a connection to Shoutcast web page.
I don't have it blocked with iptables and I don't think the Ad Block plug-in is a factor as Opera won't connect either. But if I try it with IE in XP running in VirtualBox on the same Ubuntu system it will connect to the web page! Is it something with my Ubuntu system or is Shoutcast blocking access to Linux users?
I have just installed Ubuntu 11.04 in my acer aspire 4710z laptop. After logging in, I am not able to turn on Wireless Radio, hence not able to connect to my wireless router.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Pure Evoke Flow radio that connect to my wireless router for streaming internet radio, this works fine. It also has the functionality to connect to a hard drive over wifi and play any MP3 files on it and it runs on Linux.
With Windows (sorry) I just click on the folder and make it Shareable, on the Radio I then set it to search for servers and it finds my wife's PC and plays her music.
I have (I believe) set my music directory on Ubuntu 9.10 to be shareable, it downloaded and installed a couple of files including samba and then rebooted. However my Radio cannot see it.
if anyone of you have shifted using Paid Red Hat Linux with CentOS, and what are your experiences of moving from Paid Linux to Unpaid Linux CenOS. When do you suggest a person use Paid Linux and when to use Unpaid Linux?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have learnt that the network locked huawei modems may be unlocked to use any sim card bu getting a special unlock code and it should ask for it when a "foreign" SIM card is inserted. This procedure works well in Windows, but in Linux where I use wvdial, I dont get prompted for this unlock code. Does anyone know how to insert the unlock code in Linux using any Linux tool (GAMMU/GNOKII/Minicom etc)?

I have two interfaces, gprs0 and gprs1, both connected to the Internet from the same HW device, but through two different access points I just read another blog entry with a guy who had two network cards, using one as a back up - I guess this is a little similar, but should be much easier I am guessing - I am just lost Using ifconfig (IP address given by the network) and route to setup the connection,
ifconfig gprs0 10.20.30.40 up
route add default dev gprs0
ping 66.102.7.99 works fine

There is data being transmitted and received to device again, I guess the kernel just doesn't know where the incoming data should go without the correct routing tables? Or what exactly is going on?The question I have is how do I configure the device to do the correct routing, using only the ifconfig and route commands? Maybe too trivial for you guys, but I am getting tired of goofing around not knowing what is up and down anymore

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu 9.10. I just got a Linksys WRH54G wireless router. I want to protect my wireless connection by putting a password to it but when I enter the Router's default IP address (192.168.1.1) into my browser to open the 'Utility Welcome screen', the browser does not respond.
According to the Router's manual this is because PC' TCP-IP is not set to automatically obtain the IP address.

For that purpose, I am using a 3rd machine with 2 NIC and intend to use a bridge and installing Dummynet in this machine to control the traffic between the other 2 machines.I have successfully installed Dummynet in the bridge machine. Now I require to configure Ethernet bridge in the machine. What is the process? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 pc's at home, neither v flashy but both more than capable of running this. Previously I had them both running XP SP2. One pc has 2 NICs in it and the second only one. So, PC1 (now running Ubuntu desktop 10.04) has the 2 NICs installed ...
1) A realtek NIC which is on 'eth1' and from which I receive internet connectivity from the router of this shared house. (2 other people connect their PCs to the internet via this router.)
2) A 3com NIC on 'eth0' which I have connected (using a crossover cable) to the Intel 'PRO100 VM' NIC on PC2.
Admittedly this took me some time to get half working. Currently I can connect to the internet through 'eth1' OR to PC2 via 'eth0' BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME. However, If I disconnect one (by left clicking on 'disconnect' under the top of screen menu bar, then the other one will immediately work ... and visa versa.
I had this working when both PC's were running windows XP but now in trying to educate myself further I have installed Ubuntu on PC1 and am attempting the same thing. I refuse to accept that as alot of these thread responses state, that it 'can't be done'. Quite clearly it can be done since the physical connections and hardware are no different, its just about ensuring that the protocols are all correct and that I haven't done something stupid.
I am very keen to learn more about computer networks and equally keen to educate myself in the ways of Linux, in fact I am studying to gain a network qualification as we speak but at this stage its still a little confusing. I have learned an awful lot about the fundamentals of networking but the 'hands on stuff' is where I really need to test myself.
I have just clean installed Ubuntu 11.04 on 3.06 GHz Dual core P4 with 2GB RAM
Code:
jim@venus:~$ uname -r

At the same time I purchased a Gigabit NIC from D-Link, mostly because D-Link is a reputable brand and it said on the box compatible with 2.6.x linux kernal. The original NIC is still in the system and can be seen and is functioning as eth0. The system can see the new driver and the card, here is an extract from dmesg:
