View 1 Replies View RelatedThe symptom is that NetworkManager repeatedly ask for password to connect to my AP.My AP is secured with WPA-PKI. The problem even happens with Fedora 11 live cd if I'm not quickly configure wireless connection using NetworkManager right after Fedora completes booting up. It means if I promptly configure wireless connection, i'm still able to access Internet. Same thing happens for the first boot of Fedora from hdd. For the second boot or when I dont quickly configure wireless connection when system finished booting up, NetworkManger repeatedly asks for password for AP.
I did try several approaches posted in this forum but problem still persisted. Some of approaches I tried are:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am deployed to Iraq and the Earthlink ISP here uses PPPoE to configure a connection to their wireless broadband. His english skills are pretty good and from what I gather, he's got a DSL connection that he's trying to connect me to. He showed me how he does it on a Windows machine but I can't figure it out on my ubuntu laptop. That windows machine didn't need any IP addresses or server names. It only used a username and password to connect. Of course a strong wireless signal detected was also pre-requisite.
I know my laptop works because I've had great success with it here lately, just not on the Earthlink service.I see their wireless is broadcast and I can connect to it. I just can't figure out how to post my credentials and authenticate.I don't see a way of entering my username and password because I don't know how to install (or configure) for PPPoE.I did use the pppoeconfig and got to the part where I add my username and password, but most of what's going on up to and after that, I do not have the knowledge base to use. I am no longer using bind9, but now using the installation-defaults nameserver and dhcp and trying to get a handle on how things ought to be setup properly. My previous attempts was a disaster.}
Coming fresh out of a newly installed 10.4, I obviously was able to get network connectivity but then I ran into trouble the minute that I tried to change eth0/eth1 connections via network-manager's applet. What I found was, that when I attempted to define static connections, all bets were off. It seems that once one attempts to change eth0/eth1 which are wired devices, I was no longer able to recover my network connectivity!
I was however able to setup a wireless connection, so in this way I was able to get back network (and Internet) connectivity, and write this thread on this forum. I notice also, that there is no longer 'Networks' in the System->Administration menus! Geez, what the hell is going on? how to properly configure my static wired connection? Networks in 10.4 have really changed alot!
Doing a fresh F12 install on a Dell Vostro 430. Machine needs to have 2 Network adapters for our setup.The install seems to go just fine but the on board network adapter doesn't appear to get detected/configured. If I look in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I find is ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-lo. Looking carefully at ifcfg-eth0 I see it's the second card that I've put in the machine.As a test I removed the second network card and did another fresh install of F12. This time in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I have is ifcfg-lo. When I go to system>Administration>Network Device Control I see no network devices displayed.
Is this an issue others have seen with F12 or is it possible my on board network adapter has an issue?BTW I did check the BIOS to be sure that Onboard Lan was enabled and it is.output from "lspci -k " with both cards installed on machine (I only listed Ethernet controllers)

I want to migrate my bind configuration from A to B I've read the release notes and man pages and I can't see why copying
/etc/named*
and
/var/named/*
I checked /etc/sysconfig/named too... Seems to have no effect on my brand new install on Fedora 11. Host B stays basically un-configured.

View 13 Replies View RelatedUsing Fedora 15 with Gnome 3 I am unable to configure a new network connection as the configure button is greyed out.I use a network without DHCP thus auto-connect is useless and I must enter the network configuration myself. This was simple to do in Gnome 2.x but is impossible in Gnome 3 as the configure button is greyed out when your not 'connected' to the network. Also when the auto-connect fails it switches the NIC 'off'.How am I meant to connect to a network requiring manual configuration when I can only configure networks I am already connected to?FYI: I have edited the configuration of other networks which do utilise DHCP but only after the initial connection was established by DHCP.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just want to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to connect to the internet. I have done a massive amount of troubleshooting, but some of it seems to contradict itself, and the only two things that I know for sure are that it used to work, and that my Ethernet cable is not the problem. When I use Terminal utilities like ifup and dhclient it seems that it can not determine IP information, but when I try to put it in manually, the "Apply" button grays out right after I finish typing it in. When I try to connect normally, in KDE or GNOME, the icon acts like it's connecting, then instead of having the connected icon, I receive a notification that "the network has been disconnected", and it goes back to the disconnected icon.
Oh, and by the way, I know that I could probably find a workaround, but I have limited resources, and this used to work. The Linux is a Dell desktop with Fedora 12 and the Windows is a Windows 7 HP laptop.EDIT: I hope that I didn't mess something up, but I accidentally used system-network-config to try putting in the IP address there, and ended up changing it back to the original settings, but the computer is now calling it Auto Ethernet in the taskbar icon, although sudo iwconfig in the terminal still calls it eth0.
