Networking :: Sometimes Not All Of A Webpage Loads?

I suspect the network card but I could be wrong.
Sometimes it doesn't load all of a webpage. In Firefox this results in only some of the page being displayed. In konqueror I get the "Connection to host www.page.invalid is broken" error message. The computer was doing this when running Opensuse 11.3 and continues to do it when running a clean install of Opensuse 11.4. I haven't tried a live CD of Ubuntu or something but that might be worth a go.
I can launch applications via SSH on a remote wins box. the pid shows up with @:>tasklist. However, for some reason I can not access the app via its web interface after its launched. Also, the process is not showing up in the desktop gui. its like its there but not at the same time...kinda like democracy in the US...Really though, could use some help. do i need to open applications with a " run as" or something like that. I already have the user account szet on the machine.
My laptop has become very sluggish. So I loaded firestarter firewall. It is reporting loads of incoming UDP traffic. I only use this machine for Skype and Firefox based work as most of my stuff is kept on the cloud. Is it safe to stop all this UDP traffic? It would free up my CPU I guess. It seems port 56095 is getting hammered.
I have recently upgraded to the new ubuntu 11.04 but am having problems with the internet. Often When I try to access a website it takes a long time (5-10 minutes) to load even google, and sometimes I just get the following error message: This web page is not available. The server at google.com can't be found because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the web service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Chromium from accessing the network.
Here are some suggestions: - Reload this web page later. - Check your Internet connection. Reboot any routers, modems or other network devices that you may be using. - Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means. - Try disabling DNS prefetching by following these steps: Go to Spanner menu > Preferences > Under the Bonnet and deselect "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance". - Try adding Chromium as a permitted programme in your firewall or antivirus software's settings. - If it is already a permitted programme, try deleting it from the list of permitted programmes and adding it again. - If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or check with your network administrator to make sure that the proxy server is working. - If you don't believe that you should be using a proxy server, try the following steps: Go to Spanner menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings and make sure that your configuration is set to "no proxy" or "direct". I have tried to access the internet using Chrome, Firefox, Konqueror, on the Untiy Desktop, and the Classic Desktop. I've checked my Proxy settings in Chrome (My main browser) and its set to direct internet connection. I've Disabled the UFW. I've edited the resolv.conf which initially showed:

But nothing works. It seems like When I initially log on to the internet it runs fine, but over the coarse of 10 minutes the page loading times go down then eventually I just get the above error message. There are other computers here running windows which connect through the same wireless fine.
My plan is to set up a simple webpage using no-ip. I already made an account and downloaded and configures the client. Now I want to make the actual website (hosted on my local machine). How would I do that? I assume I would need a hosting software.
I am doing samba file sharing. I got struct in problem relating reading passwords. I have to read password whatever user enter from web interface and process it. And through that password and username the user must log on from windows system. I have to write appropriate shell script for this. this is all i am doing for sharing files through samba.
I'm kinda new to all of this so I believe there's a simple solution for what I need I just don't know how it's done.
So I've configured a vsftpd, ftp server and enabled the anonymous user, therefore when I do

a directory like view is displayed in my web browser, corresponding to /srv/ftp where the files for the anonymous account are kept. Now I've made a little web page and I've copied it there, and can be executed running main.html so the address to access the web page would be

My problem is that I don't want anybody to have the possibility to see the directory like display so I'm wondering if when someone does ftp://my_location.com can't this be redirected so it will do ftp://my_location.com/main.html instead?, making the display of files and directories impossible from the ftp://my_location.com
I have 2 computers with kubuntu 8.10 using vinagre for my remote desktop viewer and x11nc for my server and I am trying to connect remotely through the command line from one computer to login to the startup screen in the other computer. Is this possible, since it looks like my server does not start until after I log in to my desktop screen?

there's a way to locally proxy or spoof just one web page. That is, use tsocks or hosts or something so that when I run an application that requests [URL], it receives /home/user/myversion.html, but for any other address it gets the normal page. Seems simple enough, if a little unusual... (I'm trying to work around a wget bug.)
After installing FC11 on my Mac Mini intel terminals, I noticed the network config GUI is completely broke, So I continued with a hand configuration.
Everything seems ok eth0 is up , it has the correct IP, DNS and default gateway, but browser quieries take forever to load.
E.g. if I type Google in the browser it takes about 20seconds before it loads the page.
To add insult to injury, I have a 16Mbit/s Down 2.5Mbit/s uplink. the other 10 or so rackservers on the network responds fast, so it is nothing to do with the network or connection. They all run FC7-9.
The problem is squarely with FC11 and must be some bug not reading or resolving DNS correctly. Anyone have an idea how I can figure this out with FC-11.
It seems to be the worst FC distro.
I generally was happy with all FC6-9, but 11 really sucks (the ppc version wont even install on my ppc terminals)
That the Mighty Mouse Wireless, worlks out of the box is very nice though, but that is all.
I have a little bit of a prediciment with my Mobile Broadband dongle, even though I know I'm in a 3G area (Dongle Supports 3G connection) my internet still loads at the normal GPRS speeds max of 5kb/s. Is there anyway to change the speed of it or do I have to keep with GPRS at the moment?
When Ubuntu 10.10 loads I get the above pop-up after logging in.Does anyone know how I would go about finding out what this refers to, or how I could address it?
I recently got a new hard drive for my notebook, and was playing a little with it taking advantage of the fact that my working system is intact on my old drive. So, I installed Slackware 13.0, and ran slackpkg to get -current. Everything runs fine, except for my wireless network.
With slack13 I was using the broadcom-sta driver (wl module) and it was working perfectly. In -current I can build the wl module, and load it, but it will do nothing. The interface (eth1 in 13.0) is not created, the card is not registered, and actually nothing is logged to /var/log/messages by the wl module itself. When I load it I only get a few lines from a module it loads (ieee something, for wireless cryptography I think), but the WiFi LED is off, and it does not reacts to the keyboard (Fn-F2 is supposed to switch the wifi off and on). Basically it seems like it is actually doing *nothing*, or that maybe there is something I need to do to activate it.
The other option is b43 with b43-fwcutter. I tried it, it worked for a few minutes before dying on me saying that it can't use DMA with my device, and that I need to reconfigure the kernel to use PIO instead. And it also behaved in a weird way. The interface was not created immediately (wlan0) and I had to play with the iwconfig command to bring it up (although I don't actually remember what exactly I did to do it). Also it looks like it takes a few minutes to load the firmware, is not immediate. The third thing i got was rfkill messages in the output of dmesg, reacting to my keyboard (logging stuff like "the radio thinghy is ENABLED or DISABLED) when I tried to bring wifi up, but without actually switching the LED on.
I don't really know what is wrong. I am thinking on building my own kernel with the option b43 suggests, but before I'd like to know why wl is failing. I could very well go back to Slack13, but staying with an old kernel version due to silly hardware issues does not seems like the right choice.
I think I must say as well that the wifi is working flawless with Windows Vista and Slackware 13.
I just installed a fresh version of fedora 11, and it went extremely smooth, except for one thing; I opened up firefox and it was at the fedora start page with a google search, i typed text into the search box, hit enter, and got a infamous "This page cannot be displayed" error.I have checked my connection, turned off the firewall, and rebooted the system. The problem still persists. I have no idea what is going on, it says i'm connected, I can do a software update which has to go through the internet connection, but for some reason, firefox doesn't want me to go anywhere besides fedoraproject.org.
I was installing fedora 13 just for fun and it move grub boot to different partition. Now I can't boot anything but fedora I know I need to be booting from hd0 sa1 but grub loads from hd0 sa7 .I just need my ubuntu os back .
I've been using Ubuntu for more than a year (just basic simple stuff like surfing the net or the occasional document) and in the last months I've been running into the following problem.I've been updating regularly to the latest Kernels the last one should be 2.6.32-25. However at start up Grub loads only 2.6.31-19 and below and there's no mentioning of 2.6.32 in grub.cfg while it is present in menu.lst. I tried to update grub with no success.
just 3 or 4 weeks with it and i like it very much. But I have a problem Some days ago, I just partitioned my HDD, installed Windows on it (for playing videogames) and ubuntu later. The problem is that ubuntu loads automatically, i cant go windows because ubuntu starts always, what can i do?
I used yum 5 days ago when I installed mplayer and some dependencies. And now I manage to use Yum and it is not working, I cant find out what is happening but yum loads the plugins and then freezes and is no reaction to ctrl-c or something to stop it so I am have to kill it dna finally got no result from any update processes. Also I manage to clean cache or even to run yum. I checked the logs and it writes nothing about this ,neither an error or something to make me understand whats happening. Tried to install with rpm but the same thing happens. It just freezes...
Is there a website builder for Fedora 12 that will allow me to design a webpage using a GUI, and then produce the relevant html code from that?I'd like something that would allow me to create, move and resize several <div>'s on the page, and update the code as well. Then allow me to drop text or graphical elements into those <div>'sAt the moment I'm looking into KompoZer, which runs on F12 OK.
I have just started to learn abit about websites so I thought I would learn from internet, I have followed w3schools.com I have done what they said infact I copied and pasted in to ooo saved as index.html my problem is how do i view it, I opened firefox opened index file but allit shows is what I pasted not showing up as web page any help pointing me in right direction.
Im having issues to connecting to my network and it continues to not connect and keeps saying that webpage cannot be displayed....i have other computers here that connect just find....i was wondering is there a command like ipconfig or something
I removed CYGWIN and installed a Ubuntu 10.10 64bit virtual box and now I have it running, but I still can't get it to run my CGI script from my webpage that i have on Ubuntu platform. I was wondering if there was a certain way that I need to install apache or whatever to get it running correctly.
