General :: HPLIP - When Turn Off The PC And Turn It On Again The Printer Does NOT Work
Nov 4, 2009I have Ubuntu 9.04, and a HP laserjet 1018 printer.
I install the printer using:
And when it ask me about plugin I give the path to it. (the 3.9.2 version of the plugin, because Ubuntu 9.04 has the 3.9.2 version of hplip)
well I install the printer, everything works perfectly.....but, when I turn off the PC, and turn it on again, the printer does NOT work!, I send work for being printed but mothing happens , Ubuntu tells me that the job was printed but ... no case, my printer does not print it.
I have to install it again since cero. what can I don to stop install it every time I turn off the computer ?

Mar 29, 2010I have a bad problem with debian 5.0 . I have installed it all right with no fail or error and when it boots,i just see a black screen with nothing else. My graphic card : Nvidia 9500M gs. I tried ubuntu,fodero but both of them were same after installing debian (Before i didn't have this problem)

Oct 12, 2010I'm rather new to linux, and I have a dedi server. I know how to browse, install, remove etc, all the basics needed to use it. I've installed flvtool2, memcoder and ffmpeg, and at the moment im converting avi files in to flv. Im then passing metadata using yamdi.
However, this process is very timely as im converting loads of avi files at a time.Im looking for a script, or a way where I can execute one command/script and which will convert all files in the directory I specify, then run those converted files through yamdi.Im guessing it would be some sort of loop, and then changing for each file?

Feb 12, 2010I have been dual booting my XP and Ubuntu for a while now. However, my pc monitor does not turn on until I am booted into windows/linux. This means I have to 'guess' to a certain extent which OS to select on boot (using GRUB). I expect I will have to change a setting in the BIOS but I am not too sure what to look out for.
After turning on my pc I have to restart it for it too do anything, it appears to just hang!However as I cannot see what is happening due to the monitor problem I am completely in the dark as to why it would do this/what is going on! I have XP installed at the front of my hard drive and Ubuntu at the back. It worked ok the first time I tried it after install (still had the monitor problem but was able to guess) then after that this random problem!
