Networking :: Ensure Reliable RS-232 Connection?

Oct 15, 2010

I have a configuration file for a network device(2100 lines). This device is configurable only over console line. If I copy chunks of those lines into terminal(I use minicom), there will be mistakes (sometimes some characters missing, space characters added etc). Hardware flow control and software flow control doesn't help either. I tried with cu utility, but same issues appeared. There will be mistakes even if I copy in ~100 line parts. What causes those missing/added characters? How to avoid those?

CentOS 5 Networking :: Can Ping Server Network But Cannot Share Resources

Feb 15, 2010

I have OpenVPN running successfully on a CentOS Linux server. All remote clients connect without a problem and can ping the server LAN (10.5.0.0/24) . The server address is
10.5.0.1. All network shares on the server are available to the remote clients via SAMBA shares and this works well. The problem is that I am unable to get the remote clients to access services on the LAN clients. For example, there is a webserver running on a Windows XP PC (on the server LAN @ 10.5.0.2) with no firewall enabled. The remote VPN clients can ping this webserver at 10.5.0.2, but cannot browse the webserver at [URL]. All clients on the server LAN can however browse the webserver. The remote clients are using Windows XP and VISTA with OpenVPN 2.1.1.

I am new to VPNs and networking, but from my research, it seems as if this may be a routing issue. I would appreciate any help you may give in getting the remote clients to access the services on the LAN clients (other than the server @ 10.5.0.1).

The server configuration is:

local 192.168.10.6
port 1194
proto tcp

General :: Pcfg_openfile - Unable To Check Htaccess File - Ensure It Is Readable

Jul 8, 2010

After moving a website folder on my local development machine to another drive, then moving it back, I got a 403 error. Most of this problem had probably to do with rights that got messed up. After deleting the code and restoring it from SVN, the rights seemed allright. The error stayed however.

The setup is a bit complex, as follows:

I have Ubuntu 10.4 as development machine, trying to mimic the server as much as possible We use Eclipse + SVN and I create all projects in a local folder under my user account In /var/www-vhosts I create folders for each vhost, like this one: test.localhost test.local/index.php: includes the index file of the project
test.local/.htaccess is a dynamic link to the htaccess file in a project subfolder

I get the following error in the apache error log:

The problem seems to be the .htaccess file, or the link to it. When I empty the htaccess, nothing changes When I remove the link, the index-include produces some output (in the apache error log) When I remove the link and replace it with the actual file, I get another error:

Debian :: Create Own Self-signed SSL Certificate To Ensure The Basket Area Remains Secure?

Dec 27, 2010

Things beyond my control are causing me to rush a bit in getting the website moved. I'm working hard to try and get it done, but something else has come up that SSL Certificate.I know that our website's "basket" area is protected by an SSL certificate to ensure customer information, especially credit info, is secure. With the move to Amazon's service, it looks like I may need to create our own self-signed SSL certificate to ensure the basket area remains secure.

I have found guides that walk through how to make one yourself and configuring apache to allow it, but something else has come to mind. The guides I found don't really indicate where the SSL certificate goes afterwards, and also doesn't suggest which sections should be governed by the certificate (as only the basket section uses it, not anything else). How would I find out that information?

Ubuntu :: HDDs Keep Swapping The Location?

Jan 1, 2011

One boot the OS is /dev/sda and the next its /dev/sdb, same goes for the second drive. This makes it difficult to setup fstab so it will mount the large storage drive on boot.
