After some tests I found that some USB Bluetooth Dongles errors, only are recoverable if the USB is unplugged an then plugged again. Is there some way to simulate that a USB device is unplugged and re-plugged?

After an upgrade to 10.04, every time I unplug the AC adapter, the laptop crashes, and immediately shuts down and restarts, and will boot up normal, and shut down again as soon as it reaches the login screen.The laptop only runs fine when the cable is plugged in.I'm assuming this has something to do with the gnome power manager.I'm running an HP Pavilion dv4-2012la .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a flash drive that I regularly use on my laptop. If I unplug the flash drive without first unmounting it, I get a popup notification of a kernel failure (with diagnostics sent to kerneloops.org). Then, if I attempt to shut down the system via the console, it hangs on "The system is going down for halt/reboot NOW!" and doesn't actually shut down. Using Gnome's graphical System > Shut Down feature just logs me out and sends me to the login screen; the shutdown feature from there does nothing. I have to disconnect the power cord on the laptop in order to shut it down, and I don't like doing this.
System: 32-bit Debian Squeeze stable with kernel version 2.6.32-5-686, running Gnome 2.30.2, on an Acer Aspire 5570z.
I use Keepassx to store my passwords and keep the keyfile for my password database on the flash drive in question. I mention this just in case it helps determine what's causing the failure.

I am currently using opensuse to run a server, however I am experiencing some difficulties. Every once in a while, and I mean completely randomly. This will occur out of no where, and then not happen for five days, then occur twenty times in a row. What happens is the computer runs fine, and all is well but suddenly it wont connect to the internet. All applications are fine and everything is working. It isn't frozen, just won't load webpages. I am using a belkin 111v2 wireless g adapter and it usually works fine.
So when the internet freezes, if I unplug any usb the computer freezes. The mouse stops moving and the keyboard won't respond. The caps lock light won't even turn on. However the laser on the mouse is on, but the computer won't respond. Its like its shutting off the usb hubs. The only thing to do is force shut it off and restart until i no longer have the problem. Sometimes it helps if I open it and re-seat the ram, but that gets old. Does anyone have a solution?
When I start X, my keyboard does not work. It seems like the wrong layout is being used. If I unplug it and then plug it back in then everything is good. I only have any Xkb options in xorg.conf.d. below is my keyboard config from xorg.conf.d. NOTE: I have /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d symlink'd to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d, if that might be the cause of this problem

It is the linksys WUSB54g V4, im assuming it runs on the rt2500 chipset,when im connected and working it runs fine, however if i try to let a download run, it generally will disconnect and require me to unplug the device and plug it back in to get it working again, i cant just reconnect if i do that it simply wont connect, im connecting to a linksys router with the most recent firmware i think its the wrt54g v7, its setup using a wpa personal password and im connected through manual entry of my ip address due to port forwarding for some of my games, however the same issue persists even when im connected through an automatic configuration.
I do not have a webcam yet, but would like to set certain video files I have to be played as my 'streaming video content' from a 'virtual' webcam.

So I would like to know how can I simulate an enter key press so that e.g. a command can be executed in terminal. Because I have some source code uncommitted, I want them at least get committed first.
I'm trying to save the output of the script I wanna run but for some reason I cant manage to do it with "script.sh > Output_4.txt"

After going through hoops and loops to get it working only to discover that you only needed to install g15daemon through the Ubuntu Software Center, I found myself with one big problem. I migrated from windows just now, and there, I had my macro keys(the extra ones) bound to CTRL+W, CTRL+T and to a simulated mouse-wheel scroll so I could navigate the web more easily. How would I go about doing that? I figured, if I used the System->Preferences->Keyboard Shortcuts thingy and bound my key, in my case XF86Launch5, to a command similar to "simulate keypress CTRL+W"(I know it's totally wrong, just to give you an idea), I might be able to get it working again. Only problem is, I can't find anything like that. Any of you has any clue about it? I googled but I only find C++/Java/coding related results, which are not exactly what I need to do.

But during some simulation throughputs are very low ( 190Kbps....210Kbps....) for different values of XXXX and YYYY.... (I don't want that the loss probability is caused by the buffer and the limit value but only by the loss probability setted on netem...)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer with no floppy drive (x64 ubuntu lucid installed) I have a program (wine windows xp) that will only save data and export data from/to a floppy drive. I found information on setting up an emulated floppy drive. i.e.

sudo mkfs.msdos imagefile.img
sudo mount imagefile.img /media/floppy -o loop
I modified the winecfg to include under the drive section A: /media/floppy. Problem is I cannot write to the drive as a normal user. I have tried everything I know but only root can read write to the drive. Is there someway to set up this emulated floppy to allow me as a user to write and read contents.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a test RHEL5 box, sitting in a brand new Dell blade rack on a PowerEdge M610, with a lovely Emulex OCm10102-F-M FCoE card connected to a Cisco Nexus 5000 switch. The whole setup is extremely new (the cards only recently became available for purchase.) We've finally worked with Emulex to get the cards functional, and we are ready to some stress testing to the SAN. My question now is, is there a good tool I can use to generate a large amount of traffic to a LUN? The Wintel team used a windows-only tool that showed an average of 6gigs/second throughput, so I need something that can generate very large files and simulate a consistent throughput to the LUN. I found iozone, but I'm having a devil of a time with it.
